It's basically the same UI blizz had before patch 13, but now with patch 13 runes instead >_> and a redundant elective mode button which has no use in a 3 category skill system.
They scrapped it already, they aren't going back to it.
Agreed, but I wouldn't say the new UI is confusing but annoying.
And I believe the new UI wouldn't be THAT bad if Blizzard hadn't removed the ability
to hot-swap your skills in the action bar.
Seriously, what the FUCK were they thinking?
The former UI had no flaws whatsoever. Simple, straightforward, easy and fast to use.
Now the skill screen takes up in a "in your face" fashion all of you monitor space.
I think any UI that shows the user more than 3-4 skills at a time is probably a step in the right direction. Why am I flipping through 6 pages for no reason? Why are they making it so hard for me to compare skills? Isn't this game suppose to be largely about creating new "builds"?
People have been giving this new UI an amazing amount of slack, mostly because it is a product of Blizzard programming. The simple truth is that the new D3 UI is BAD DESIGN. This crap would get a C- in any game design class. We don't need to have long, drawn out conversations about it. It's just a poorly design feature that makes the game worse.
Implement this. Implement v12. Implement ANYTHING except the current UI design. No competent game developer would let this kind of thing slip by, let alone Blizzard entertainment.

people need to stop wishing hoping praying for a change when its obviously not going to happen. they wont even change the ever so terrible chat channels because it would apparently 'delay release' so they definitely wont revamped their skill UI when they spent so effing long doing it in the first place.

there are things about diablo I dont like... but I dont care enough to talk about them, but this... holy crap this new skill ui, it makes me want to rage, im so so so so serious, the old ui (seen in the OP) was SOOO grand when they made it. I fell in love and was like YES! thats what blizzard is about!...
This new UI...wow, I have not disliked a UI in any game this much in many many years, so yes, I have full support for something like whats seen in the OP (minus how the tooltips are, that looks a little ugly) but the main idea is there

I agree with every word of this.
Agreed.
If they don't want to change the current UI, just please, for everything that is fucking holy,
let us have the option to switch to the old UI.
I mean they already have all the coding and programming done, no?
Just give us the choice, BOOM, everyone's happy.
That is one of the worst thing in Diablo 3 so far.
I recently got my hand on the beta and hell this UI is sooo annoying..
Its great though for casual gamers.
The solution would be pretty simple.
New UI by default for casuals, and "old" UI when elective mode is activated.
The "old" UI is definitely perfect if compared to the new one.
honestly people are getting worked up over a UI that isnt hard to get used to. after seriously a few hours of playing i completely forgot how bad the UI was and didnt care and just made my builds.
sure it sucks but if blizzard doesnt change it (which is most likely they wont) will it just faceroll your experience? i dont believe so. someone with beta whos played more then 5 hours with the new system please tell me how its just completely ruining your gaming experience and ruins the game entirely. its just a minor inconvenience at most

Its all matters of opinion, to me, being able to see all the spells, and look through all the runes to see what I want to change to is one of the most important things to me. This new UI Ruins one of the core things I enjoy. That, is an issue for me.
Granted you can say at 60, once I find the build I like, it wont matter. That may be true.. but thats still 5 characters to 60..and with the idea of "many builds" I would want to try new fun things, and switch a lot. This new UI does not make that fun or easy

yes thats true. and yes it is important i agree. are you in the beta molst? have you spent hours n hours using the new skill system while playing? like i said it sucks for sure but after a few hours you get used to it just like anything

I think its more than just a minor inconvenience.
In the Beta we have access to maybe 10-15% of all the skills (not to mention runes) and you don't really switch skills often (I don't because there isn't much choice to make once everything is unlocked), but imagine when you'll have unlocked every skills and every rune and you'll want to know "was this skill with that rune better than this one with this rune.. or.." ... this minor inconvenience will happen so often there is no way you'll get along with it easily and won't be wishing to have access to the old UI.
That is my opinion but I guess a lot will feel this way if they don't change it for release.
Ill never get use to it, every time I have to open it up, and hit that dumb arrow until I find the right spell, I get mad
lol sorry to hear that man. it bugged me at first then i got over it because the UI in most games is trash. idk if they will change it. i mean they internally tested it to 60 and beyond before they even implemented this in the beta. so obviously all or most of the internal testers didnt have a huge problem with it....

The demographic on this forum is mostly seasoned players. Veteran types will mostly prefer the old quick and noninvasive UI and I couldn't agree more. I have strong doubts it will ever change though. The new mickey mouse UI will be appealing to new players and that is the largest chunk of the upcoming player base for D3.

So we should just "grin and bear it"? When Blizzard wants to release the game when it's "perfect"? I don't think so. I would rather people actually got a spine and stood up to a developer when they provide something substandard. If enough people complain, they will change it. Case in point: RealID. I would rather they get the game right the first time then release a shitty game. And yes, releasing a shitty UI with the game makes the game more shitty.
I doubt these developers will change it because I don't believe they have the pride, the willingness, the know-how nor the work ethic to actually make a game that is a worthy sequel to developers that left the company years ago. I hope to god I am wrong, but given their changes and their PR-speak explanations I have more than just doubts. Time will tell, and I sincerely hope that I will eat crow when the game is released, because I have been waiting over a decade for a sequel to my favourite game. It's something I want to see.
that wasnt my point big guy. people have already complained enough. thread on thread on thread screaming for change on the main forums ever since the day P13 hit. they get it. the ball is in their court now. and what they choose to do is final. more whining isnt going to solve or help anyone at THIS point.
and im saying because of this and because of the unlikely hood of it changing you should get used to it or your going to ruin the game for yourself holding a grudge and staying mad

They were trying to make it easy enough for our grandmas to understand. A fail idea that produces fail results.
