We don't know. Meta has changed in every other season mid-season, and the meta as we saw it one week before season start has almost never been exactly the same at the end of the season.
Currently, it looks like 4p is sup monk, sup barb, LoN WD, and necro as RG killer. In 3p you take any of those out (except for monk). In 2p it's even more uncertain, probably monk+WD and monk+wizard and monk+necro depending on what you want to fish for (RG with adds for WD or good mob type for an RG killer DPS). But honestly, all that is just super second guessing. We have no clue, especially since we might not even have seen all of the necro changes, and the current iteration is just out for one week. And I personally am 100% sure there's gonna be other exploits/bugs so I expect a rough season with lots of changes and potentially even a shortened season (like S2).
2 DPS necro is unlikely; you can certainly do that, but having two classes is almost always beneficial, and especially once you go above GR100 the monk is almost irreplaceable thanks to its powerful healing (alongside lots of other useful buffs). But it can work - there's a GR105 clear in 2p in Europe currently by a Hammerdin+wizard. But of course they're paragon 3000 and could potentially clear GR110 solo themselves, so that puts that GR105 in a different spotlight.
Yea i thought you would say something like that, its because we are 2 ppl that are gonna start S11 together, and we try to start what would be something to push the leaderboards with.
And when we have 2 "solo pushing" chars, one of us makes a monk for support. But before that, we need the 2 strongest dps in the game, and as i see it atm it will be the necro? What you think about that.
And do you think we will se more nerfs/bufs/changes to the necro before S11?
I'm sure there will be a patch, because they need to deploy a patch (next week) in order to fix the Rathma tooltip. So some minor changes might be coming. If they will nerf/fix anything - I wouldn't count on it. The necro right now is quite strong, but if I'd hazard a guess Blizzard is probably fine with it since it's the new class and they want everyone to feel powerful. You can't really count on that anyways for your decision.
Keep in mind that there's literally been no testing for the necro. The "beta" or "PTR" was just a marketing gag; 90% of invited people were just promoters (streamers and mostly from NA), but most of the builds come from theorycrafters, oftentimes from Asia and EU, and almost none of them were invited to the beta. And since the necro went live, most of those guys were too busy exploiting. So basically the real testing will begin 3-4 weeks into the season when the first farming is over and they'll be looking for the push build. Then new builds will emerge.
Currently the necro is quite strong, but also very squishy - in Torment rifts I always play with Goldwrap+Boon of the Hoarder, but in GRs that obviously doesn't work. It's a matter of preference I guess: I personally just don't like the necro in its current state. It feels a bit clunky for speed farming. And speed farming is what you do at the beginning of the season - run a ton of rifts to get gear, paragon, gem levels, and more gem levels for augments. For that just pick whichever class you enjoy the most. Once you have all that stuff you can still switch to the class you want to push with, farm the gear (if you don't have it yet), put on augments, and get a rank. Pick 2 classes for the season start you enjoy, period. Especially in 2p the meta is really of very little relevance, and a heal monk is geared up in a day if necessary.
Oh thanks Nachten, that's a good point. Necro as RG killer is probably only worth it for fishing and gambling on good RNG, but for more consistent clears and sub-GR120 the wizard or DH are probably better. But then, the community *wants* the necro to be part of the meta, so I'm sure they'll find a way. Maybe as support (but even here his heal is not consistent enough atm to replace the monk, and it doesn't have long-range pulling like the barb).
Inspired by this thread, I added something to a new overview I just recently created: a comparison of the meta as we knew it before the season and the final meta by the end of the season:
You will notice that not a single time the meta prediction was 100% accurate. Sometimes only apparently "minor" things changed, but keep in mind that switching an entire class set is not far away from switching to an entirely different class+build as it means the gear you collected, the rolls you were looking for, and the pieces you augmented were *wrong*.
And oftentimes the meta changed absolutely entirely and had barely any resemblance to what it looked like before the season.
Regarding our testing yesterday, I'm still unsure if the Necro with different builds might be a solid solution for killing bosses.
I wouldn't underestimate him still, but i guess, there might be some different "wild" builds upcoming when the season prorgress moves on.
Hi, I'm just wondering why you are still unsure Necro is not the best solution for killing bosses? It has been proven by some players it can kill up to two times as fast as DH, even with sub-optimal gear. It also has no problems with bosses with adds, although it does have some issues with certain bosses that kill skeletons.
Ah sorry I misunderstood, I thought u meant necro wasn't suitable. So Trags and Raths are not viable at higher tiers but Inarius is currently the best option for RGK.

New tragoul build with Leger's Disdain offhand is very good. Were doing 110 quite fast and my party member said they were doing 112 fast too with tragoul. He kills RG very fast, faster than inarius.
I play the tragoul necro. As elit killer and rg killer. It is insane strong. 116 boss 0 pylons is 1,5 min to kill 107 boss in 12 sec. More opptimal gear it wil outpreform all other rg killing specks/classes. You can see the build and vid under my build.
Wow, that's very interesting guys, thanks for your thoughts. 107 boss in 12 sec is insane kill speed. Overpowered even. Thanks for the build, 'll be looking forward to playing it in the upcoming season
I think the overall meta will be very much the same as last season. I have done gr 100+ with a trash-clear-necro which worked fne, but I don't see it replacing the WD by a long shot. For the supports spots I am almost certain that we will see the omnipresent Barb and Monk in 4 man groups, Monk can't be replaced simply put and the barb offers too much utility to swap in higher lvl speed clears.
The RG Killer spot will be a season-long contest between the DH, the Wiz and the Necro. Personally I think all three classes are pretty much the same unless you are pushing 120+: all 3 can clear an RG within 3 mins in 110's with ease. With that said I see the Necro coming on top of the other two, but not with the Inarius build. I belive the Trag'Oul corpse lance build will be the strongest RG killer in the game for season 11... I did some testing and it turns out that a 2.5 mil DPS Trag-Corpse-Lance can clear a 105 RG in one rotation... 30 seconds or so.
I cannot agree more with your post. That are the same thoughts i have after the experience of last season and the non season necro group tests.
Ruls already said Trag Necro killing 107 boss in 12 seconds, I think DH/Wiz would both take at least 1+ mins. Why are some of u guys still saying it's a contest between DH/Wiz and Necro I dont understand.

Maybe because if it doesn't die in 12 seconds, you need to wait like a minute until next damage comes?
Of course wizard is not in contention after cows exploit is fixed(i assume it is)
At this point it's Inarius, with potential from other necro builds to catch up.
Like Inarius is like now you dont do alot off dmg in the rift since skeletons are more or less dead. Tragoul stt you can burn elits down on evry cd, the CD is around 40 sec if you have around 50% cdr from gear. + Blood is power. And it is just time to stack a bitt off striken and make corpses.
For me playing bothe specks i think tragoul is alot strongers even on higer tiers. Have a 121 kill on Inarius and 117 on tragouls.
Ther is still som tunning to be done to the tragoul set. you can see bothe build under. http://www.diablofans.com/builds/91225-boss-killer-4man-122-update http://www.diablofans.com/builds/92582-1-shot-boss-killer-105-130-vid
Looks like going Necro will be a good choice this season I was wondering though, does Necro have a good speed farming build at low paragon? I initially wanted to start DH because it can do T13/GR70 by the end of day 1. Is there a Necro equivalent?

Hello all,
I was wondering if someone could give a "professional" opinion, on what the meta would be in season 11:
2 player
3 player
4 player
I was thinking 2 dps necro for 2 player with trang corpse, let know know what u think :-)
Here's a "professional" fact, not even opinion:

bah always are all season same, this game is bored and dead.
do yall think the support necro / dps WD build currently rank 1 on Americas will be viable?
