Hope we won't get tired of it looping.... i wish it was 8 minutes long as epic as the 2 minutes was....
I don't think we are ever meant to be in town NEARLY as long as in D1 and D2, to be honest. Especially not in the beginning area. We shouldn't hear it for very long.
Some of these are amazing. The Tribal music has such a nice feeling to it
We can only imagine what's in store for the other Acts, let alone the boss chambers! I'm so excited for this specifically because it's the one thing upon which we have NO insight.
I guess the question I feel I have to pose now is... How does the Tristram theme of new compare to the old.
I'm not going to lie, I feel like there may be a serious lack of actual "music". It's fine that the riffs in the ambiance are extremely simplistic background noise, but when you're just chilling in a town it seems like the music should carry more weight, as if it were telling a story(partially muted when you're talking with townsfolk for the actual story).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining as much as I am making an observation as a fellow guitarist/musician. I have nothing but respect and nostalgia for the old pieces, while feeling I have to make excuses for the newer ones. I'm sure there are some epic scores for boss encounters we have yet to hear, but I still feel they should have stayed even more towards home for tristram than they did. I understand that we won't be in town, as long or as often as we used to be (on average) but I still feel it is somewhat lackluster compared to tracks of the past that really knocked the players into the mode "this game kicks ass" right from the get-go by means of said scores.
Has anyone found a D3 equivalent to D2's mindblowingly good "Rogue Encampment" track? It's the music from the starting town in D2, *not* Tristram. (music link below)
Would be great to see some version of this making a return in D3!
Thanks man! These sound great; this was the only thing that I wasnt sure about and still never really got an answer until now. New Tristram is AMAZING!!!

Finally got a Beta invite and I've been through all the MPQ files and can't find the music that plays initially. I'm not talking about the Tristram music and other tracks at Sound.mpq\SoundBank\Music, I'm talking about the tracks that play when you're signing in such as what I imagine to be Act II's music (the original loop was taken down from the official Diablo III website but it was much better than what is up there now).
Has anyone been able to find those other tracks? They are somewhere but WinMPQ is really not helpful because it's sort-by-size column doesn't correctly work though I did briefly scroll through all the MPQ files.
Finally found it. I decided to find all files and arrange them by size. Then I was patient and used the filter (*ogg) using WinMPQ which made scrolling through the files reasonably easier considering the vast number of assets in just the beta alone. If the beta is ANY indication of the final shipping version then holy moly are we in for some uncontested awesomeness.

This file also contains other folders with ogg music files as well.
Without any doubt I know that someone will follow in my footsteps and be utterly annoyed that no one else has bothered to list where the music is or how to find it. If the game has been released and you're working with that version (not the beta) then hopefully Blizzard will have really organized the MPQ files (though it is possible Blizzard might change the internal path of the audio files). Personally I'm big on the ORIGINAL game score (incorrectly referenced as game soundtrack, soundtracks typically are just tack-on CD's whereas the SCORE is the actual music in anime, games, films, etc. THIS is the method used to get the actual original music so I hope this helps. I have more game and indie gamer related music on my site; my personal music collection makes NiN look Madonna-level mainstream.

Or you can let your ears feast on these themes, as a preview of the game. It will get you more excited.
