Okay well i used to play DII more than a slept, like most of you.. I stopped playing for a few years now. I used to use Windows computers, but now i have Macs. Basically the reason for this post is to see if what im using is going to satisfy me while i play the game, when it comes out.
Basic info on the comp is 20" iMac 2.16ghz intel core 2 duo, 250gb HD, 4gb RAM, 128mb RadeonX1600 graphic card.
So what do u guys think. Will this be cool for this game. Ive never played a game on any of my Macs, so i really have no clue how they compare to Windows comps. I know this thing is super fast for everything else i use it for... just not a clue when it comes to the games.
I'm not too big on the Radeon graphics cards, I tend to find that Nvidia graphics cards perform alot better with Blizzard games. I guess I haven't had much luck with Radeon, plus I don't know too much about the X1600 series. I would look into an upgrade(preferably 256MB Nvidia card). You got alot of RAM and your processor is fine. I am not a Mac person so I have no idea which graphics cards tend to perform better on Macs.
You have a similar setup to me, and I'm not looking at upgrading before DIII unless I run into a large sum of money (unlikely)
THe only thing there that may have problems is your graphics card. I have a Radeon 2800 256MB, and (at high graphics settings) I do have some problems running some of the games I have installed, which are of a similar graphical level.
That said, I do not believe that the lower/medium level graphics settings for DIII will cause you any problems at all - although we do not know exactly what these will be just yet, but based on Blizzard's history of including a fairly broad range in graphic settings you should be ok.
hmmmm...thats pretty harsh cause i got a mac too, i use to have a pc with ATI x800 pro card...
but i have seen people playing WoW on macs and they seem to run fine...
i bet the graphics cant be that too demanding...it is diablo after all, not some ridiculous console game
where u need a 1080p tv and hd cords, and a 600$ operating system....
Yes it will work fine but installing LoD is a pain in the ass. I forgot how i did it, I think I had to reinstall diablo 2 and select install LoD (Used to own a Mac until my LoD got jammed in the CD drive). PM me if you need help with it
Its better than my mac and i can play so youll be able to do Dibalo 2 and LoD just fine. Maybe not D3 though or most modern games just cause your vid card is pretty low end.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
Originally, they shipped separate versions for Mac and Windows. Newer versions support both on same disc (I can't install it on Mac with my original discs, but can with new ones).
Also not sure if you've upgraded to 10.6 (snow leopard) but those no longer support PowerPC, so I'm wondering whether this new version will support that? I thought Rosetta took care of that, but maybe not. Check your install disc for which version it supports.
And regards to the original post... I'm sure the game will run very smoothly. Question though, did you upgrade to your Radeon? I thought all Macs (at least the MacBooks and the Mac Pros) came standard with nVidia?
The way I got D2 & LoD to run on mine (10.5.8, Nvidia 9600) was registering the games on the new battle.net accounts, downloading the game client, and installing.
It wouldn't let me install from the disc, though.

D3 Pros: Outdoors environment, night time environment, female Barbarian, rune spell system, the Wizard class
D3 Cons: Fantasy architecture, fantasy armor, fanstasy weapons, no shaders.
Yes, D2 and LoD work on Mac's.
As will D3..
I'm unsure as to how the Linux OS will do with D3, it might work..
But who uses Linux for gaming purposes anyway.
