Random is not boring, Random is Random and its always different, so thats a good thing. There is no such thing in diablo as waste of time when it comes to monster killing (only if the area is for a lower lvl than yours) every time you explore you encounter monsters, and everytime you kill you got a chance to get good items, and gain xp, and have fun... i dont see how you think you are right... seriously.
Allways different ? How one baal rush are different from another ?
And the best way of lvling in d2 is not go into those random areas and kill stuff as you said. The best way is find and discover the hotspots and rush that place until you reach a point that you need to dicover another hot spot.
And in a multiplay, if something is not the best, it isn't even good. So kill random stuff is waste of time, once it's not good, because it's not the best way of lvling.
I agree, every time I ever do a boss run it almost goes exactly like the last one. Randomness can only be random to a certain extent. Diablo 3 however looks to have built more scenarios and added to the random experience which is good. We just need some uniqueness to areas now.
Why does it even matter we all know maphack will come back as soon as the fan base will come back
I prefer randomized dungeons it makes the game WAY more interesting, I played D2 without rush half the time because it was fun to play through the game
There is an "ingame maphack" already .. at least if u watch the gameplay trailer you see a big area of the map in the radar already.
Besides if they do it right this time, the maphack would have to snif the data from servers and not just your D2 folder. A lot harder case.
Random dungeos ok
Random everything boring! In D2 those sandbox areas were just boring.. flipped around couple of times, nothing interesting you just ended up following the road anyways.
I always found the best items in the most random of dungeons (Ancient Tunnels, The Pits).
I think in Diablo III, the action will be so fierce and intense, that you won't want to skip anything! Oh and I'm sure they'll be adding content in each little side dungeon that will be worth going after...
Well I would like to play D3 a few years after release and still make it worthwhile to visit such random dungeons.
That is actually a really valid point. That was probably the worst thing about D2 and we can only hope D3 changes in that respect.

In D2, when you created/joined to a game the map was sent to your Windows data files, and it's no big deal to do some searching in there.
Actually that is not true. The server didn't issue map data back to you unless your client specifically asked for it. The maphack made a query for an entire Act at a time, and the serverside software wasn't clever enough to detect that as something illegal.
It is actually not easy at all to protect against maphacks, but sure is possible. Maybe not as soon as the game will be out, but at one point it will be if only they make the system a bit more different from the start. Which I am sure they will.

But yes, I think they are adding side quests, and hopefully more worth while treasures in the side dungeons.
Randomness is very important in Diablo, they can't just remove it.
PS:You play settlers II? The new one? It was my favorite game back in... 1996! Hehe
Have Fun,

Thats all we want really, content in side dungeons making them worth going after. Not the exact same content as the next dungeon.
So no one would like to re post this in the blizzard forums to try to get an answer on the topic?
