"The max player limit isn’t set yet, but they’re thinking it might be just 4. They can add more, and it’s actually less stress on b.net to have more players in fewer games, but as Jay pointed out, more than 4 turns into total chaos, or else players are off in different parts of the same game. So the upper limit will probably be more about fun and party play than technical capability."
This was taken from http://www.diii.net/blog/comments/d3-gameplay-panel/ check the link out for your self. In my opinion I don't know if this is good or bad, I would think more players would be better but I haven't played the game so I don't know.
Haha. Another striking similarity to D1 mechanics.
Excellent, excellent... Getting full games will be easier, there will be more games to choose from, being alone in a game rewards 1/4 and not 1/8.... etc. Basically, it will be twice better as far as I am concerned.
Indeed- Blizzard has also stated that they don't want to have classes based on those roles for Diablo - everyone deals damage here- and honestly its a welcome design philosophy that will make Diablo 3 fun for everyone
Nothing of this, because this isn't WoW. In Diablo, everyone fights, everyone contributes directly to the death of enemies, everyone supports his teammates, everyone gets hurt... Diablo III is a game you can play in single player, there's no place for things like this.
One of the reason I loved d2 was its fast paced game play. Adding healers and CC classes with stuns... will slow the game down.
4 Players is ok i wouldve rather seen 6 because i wanna get to know people and make a huge act 1 run the day it comes out, but then again remeber cow game where you had a necro with his billion skeles and shit then he spammed poison nova after using bone wall on the hell bovines and then the sorc would use glacial ord and he barb would be whirlwinding while the javazon used that chain lightning move and if you were with a druid his bear and crows and snake and buffer and his hurricane and then an assasin with all those traps and a pally with thorns on and the hammers flying....IT GOT SO FUCKING LAGGY I ALWAYS DCED so i think this is a better move it may be able to support up 5-6 i hope cuz that would make for a beter gameplay because i mean 4 is a small number and for pvp they said they are doing something diffrent then there other games... i would think you log into b.net and you log in and shit when it opens it should say choose a bar with PvP and a bar with multiplayer click which ever you want and play and most likely they will max out the player limit in Pvp without overloadig the servers

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
I saw a few pages back someone saying "Hey! Who cares? In D2, there's usually 4 out of 8 players who are afk!"
Great. Now, 2 out of 4 will be afk. Now we have 2-players games.
Uh no now your going to be able to actually play i think the people who go afk in the 1/8 isi because they just wanna be there when you leave so they can do shit themselves lol with their party instead of yours...... now in 4 player games your coming in to party with those people so you can go rape the act to shreds

Indeed. WoW was developed to have a larger level of interaction and cooperation in the sense of having various characters play various roles to achieve a single function- monster or boss defeat. Diablo III is more comfortable in the sense that you do not have to depend on a tank or a healer or someone with a fixed role to be able to kill a horde of mosters or a boss - you only kick arse and what's more fun than kicking arse? Kicking arse with your buddies!
Well, this is our moment to complain about something that hasn't been added yet. Everyone that disagrees with it get on the B.net forums and post your opinion. Maybe we will be able to change their minds.
i bet they settled on 4 players because
1. there are only 5 classes.. they don't want there always to be multiple players with the same class in a full game
2. 8 players = 8 drops per boss...that might be a little too much
Yeah thats close to what I thought. Seems more logical

Just because theres 8 players in a game doesn't mean everyones going to get a drop from a boss...

a tank, a support/healer, crowd controller, dps machine.. what else could you want from a party?
