Once again more misunderstanding from the mindless.
No one wants to keep the old graphics. Everyone is in full support of a next-gen game.
The problem is Blizzard isn't using next-gen. They're not even using last-gen. But that's okay, even with old engines you can still make a masterpiece. Games don't need to be photo-realistic.
The other problem is the flat texturing. Artists use perspective in order to make you visualise an object in the third-dimension and promote realism, Blizzard seems to deny that games should ever have a minute amount of realism and just does the thing they've done in WC3 and WoW. They tried to do it in SC2 but complaints from the community drove about change.
The final problem is the lighting, yes it is a problem. I want you to go into a stone cathedral at night, with only the candles lit. I then want you to come back and tell me if a blue light was magically in the building keeping everything illuminated.
I can understand a bit of brightness outside, but that was nearly as bright and vibrant as Act 2 which was in a sun-scorched desert! At least in Act 2, when you went underground, it was dark and the same familiar stuff we're used to in a Diablo game.
Evolution is great. But there's a difference between evolution and entirely recreating. Blizzard is entirely recreating Diablo in an image that is not familiar.
Um way too attack with insults. "Mindless". Ok first off I wasn't just talking about the graphics...if you would read I was also talking about lighting, gameplay, etc. Hell look at something as simple as adding RUN from d1 to d2...I bet you'd bitch about THAT if this was the release of d2 and not d3. And yes I know what perspective is; I'm an artist. How are they not using perspective? The game is 3d rendered you dolt. If anything d2 isn't using perspective; since it is drawn, flat sprites genius. Holy christ....the outside was bright!! Oh my god, there's this thing called "the sun"; maybe you've heard of it. You're arguments are unfounded and basically the same garbage that 90% of you complainers are babbling about. I know I sound like and ass, but here's me caring.
And yes I know I'm attacking with insults; I could care less people like you piss me off.
Green backlight in Diablo3 is awesome. "Colors" like that are awesome. All hail evolution.
Yeah man, I know. Like how when the moon shines through a cathedrals painted stained-glass windows and reflects an ambient backlight from the colors on the glass.....Sweet...Moon-lit cathedrals.
Btw, its one thing to say d3 looks like WoW, but its another to actually tinker with a zoomed-in shot to make it feel more WoW-esque.
Just trust blizzard. Every dungeon won't be a clone of the one we just saw (duh). Of course there will be more sinister dungeons than Act 1. We saw Act 1 in that demo. Now if you're willing to base an entire game off of a 20-min showing of easy-Act-1 then something is wrong.
Maybe but just maybe they'll give you a choice in the options menu to let you choose the classic colors or the new colors. Wishful thinking....yea.
I like playing Diablo2 and I like playing WOW. I like how Diablo3 looks so far with it's colors. I think it's a nice change. Who knows, maybe when they make the next sequel they'll revert back to the dark colors.

Just because you made a DeviantArt account doesn't make you an artist.
If you think perspective means 3D, I hardly believe you've ever drawn a picture.
Paintings are on a flat plane, yet some painters use perspective so well that you can almost feel like you are there. The best explanation fo what perspective is, is the road going off into the distance. It starts out wide but the lines meet at the end, creating the effect of a horizon.
Blizzard doesn't do that with their texturing. They use the most minimal amount of 3D for a game to be considered 3D and then just paint flat textures onto the objects. The objects don't feel like they have depth and are just flat.
Diablo 2 may have been 2D, but everything in it, from characters to monsters to backgrounds, looks like it has real depth to it.

if it is, how come i do not feel the same way as i felt in d1, right? 3d has artistic value too! colour- matching is what matters.
