Couldn't you have like hindu monks like characters?
Sure we could. But we need a reason as to why. And I'm guessing since you suggested it, you have a decent idea of why you'd like them included in the game?
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Ok, um... well they could join us as a playable class because Diablo or just demons have invaded their homeland (the asian based area). They could have skills such as healing skills, blunt melee skills, and passive bonuses. The person could look like Hralti (or w/e his name was) from act 3, the black smith.

I never really got into thos whole monk thing. What's so fascinating about playing as a monk? I mean sure, you get passives with flashy names, some martial arts techniques, and occasionally healing.
I guess I'm really not a fan of the asian concepts in games like these.
They are the same as the barbarian, priest, warrior or whatever class we may have, but it just doesn't agree with me. Most of the time anyway.

Well it would be a more support type character for if someone has clan battles, the monk would mainly provide support, healing those who are injured, giving certain people bonuses if they can, etc. It's more for tactical pvp than anything else.

Not sure even Blizzard with their take a different spin on something would have an Indian monk, come from an Chinese/Japanese area. But they might. They have a Indian in the Amazon.

Aladin?... o.O
First thing I thought of when you said that was this:
Lol...

They have an Indian in the Amazon? Was this in one of the novels?
Honestly though, I think some kind of character along the lines of that Throne of Darkness game would be pretty good for a character for Diablo 3.

Alkor in act III ("Amazonia") has a very distinctive Indian accept, he sounds rather Apu Nahasapeemapetilon-esque.

I was thinking more along the lines of Hadji from Johnny Quest.

TOD is pretty cool. Love the big ass castle stages.

not with a turban but like the guys in the red robes and everything, let me get a pic
That's kinda looks like the Act 3 guy... Shit, his name escapes me now... But yea. I think the new class would either be something like that or a fighter...

I do too. Just too many damn enemies at once! My party keeps dying. x.x (I usually use a leader, a fighter, a wizard, and an archer...)

His name was Hratli or something.
I think a monk guy could be interesting, if you take it as a non-weapon class. You could combine evasiveness with high attack rating and high critical hits or something like that... the problem is not the class, or, rather, making it different from all the other classes. A class that takes advantage of the others' attacks? Deflects swords, arrows, and magic? Collects them to exert a powerful nova blast? xD I dunno. It's really Blizzard's job. I am not against this class...
Hfratli is the blacksmith. Alkor is the potion guy.

That's kind of how DnD monks work, their hands become like weapons, often more powerful than weapons.
Maybe absorbing certain attacks (fire, poison, ice, etc) and then once the absorbed energy has increased enough, you unleash it in different forms.
Probable. they already have skills which require you to build them up then unleash a massive amount of energy.
Of all the asian architectures, the temples this guys live in is probably the easiest to impliment in the diablo series, it's not like the Forbidden City in China, or Japan's Imperial Palace, even though those locations are awesome.

Perhaps it could be a hand-to-hand class? Kinda like martial arts? not really Assassin style but actual martial arts like Karate and stuff with the punching and the choping and all that good crap?

Well, that's all good in theory but how do you imagine it in Diablo? That's what we are thinking about here.

His skill sets would be various fighting styles or martial arts.
If you had to go with an anime, I probably would have gone with Naruto. Lightning blade Jutsu!!! Hmm, speaking of which, three sets of techniques in Naruto, Ninjutsu, Genjusu and Taijutsu, each one could be a skill set.
But that might be pushing it. As Genjutsu is actually a Naruto only thing, the other two are real.
Different kinds of knuckles? Like brass knuckles? Or the gloves could give an attack kinda like the shield gives the Paladin attack...
Yea, gloves would be the "weapon" with a conventional "weapon" only giving stats, again, like the Paladin's "Smite" skill.
After all, who says that you have to use a sword or a mace or an axe?
If they were to use a weapon, it would no doubt be reminescient of a Shaolin Monk's weapon.

Or something like Dragon Ball Z?
Then it can develope into active skills or passive skills (passive: adding elemental dmg to fist attacks).
Then for their super move it could be like an energy unleash type ability.
