i think the pay to play think is retarted but u know its going 2 happin because there money hungry
I agree!!! I remember going out and buying City of Heroes when it came out. I got home and all set 2 hook it up, found out it was pay 2 play! I was so pissed, I just put it back in the box, and it's still setting in a box in storage somewhare! I always liked the Diablo games, but never was big on playing online! I tried it but, like playing single player better! You already pay for the game, then you continue paying! I think it's great for people who like playing online, but would like 2 also be able 2 play off line a single player game.
payin to play is stupid, because it prohibits a lot of people from buying the game jsut for that reason, some kids (like me) have to go to school and do not have a full time job that would allow me to pay for it, even if it is only 5$ a month i dont want to be wasting money when i could only be on during the weekends
paying does suck but everything can't be free i would p2p just because the money goes to a good cause (make a better game pay those programmers that are programmin there little fingers off) as well as the other game makers as well.
i agree with you ghostz i don't want to pay because i only can play on the weekends
P2P is gay especially when u already pay like $50 for the game I wonder how much it'll cost when it comes out??????? Hope it doesn't cost much more than usuall
As for your DLL solution: Doesn't work. A game doesn't register keyboard strokes when you are playing online. It is registered using packets. Only on your side does it reconize key strokes. A DLL would not matter.
And duping: There is no way to fix this on Open Battle Net. The items that your character has is saved in your .D2 file. The item I.D. is easily changed when you dupe on your character. The program is actually hex editing the item when it is duped, so that Diablo does not reconize it as a dupe.
That duping issue is why sometimes when you would hack on Diablo 2, you would go to play your character and it pops up with "Bad Inventory Data" when you went to enter an actual game.
These are problems with every game online, always will be there. There is no way to 100% fix a game. Only prevent it. Like water proof. There is never anything that is water proof, only resistant. Think of hackers like water.
Wait you misunderstand me. I said make it so that the game does register key strokes before it will pass a network packet to the server. If the game doesn't get the command originating from a mouse or keyboard action, it won't do anything. Program can be programmed to know if it is the keyboard telling the game or another program telling the game to do something. I know, I have a little C++ program that knows the difference when I am running another program inside it, and its fast. Don't see why they can't do it with Diablo2.
If they implemented this, they could tell if some program is trying to tell their software to do something. For someone to get around this, they would need to make a highly expensive device to mimc this type(s) of input through the actual input ports. Most Hackers would find it a waste of time, and the cost of such a hardward device outweighs its worth.
This would also identify dupe programs, and almost all the hacks. It is possible, very possible. And this is done in the DLL structures.
i am looking forward to play diablo 3 for sure but i dunno about paying monthly for it. i voted no on this. I loved the last 2 but when you pay like 60-70 dollars for the game itself, then a monthly fee ontop of that i dunno. I guess i would if the fee was cheap enough. I guess i will have to play it first to see.
ok, so when did all of u confirm that d3 was an mmo?
I thought we all already overruled that possibility?
even if it is an mmo, all mmo titles are beginning to follow guild war's example. Its free, and it has low computer sys requirements and connection requirements. heck u can even play comfortably with a modem! And not to mention, despite all of this, its still stunning to play!
Oh wait we discussed this before the server crashed. I dont know how many of u were old members who used different nicks, but if you were there, then lets debate!
#1: Diablo 3 would not be profitably configured into an mmo, since probably the most exciting thing about the game is its amazing storyline. A key element which mmos lack.
#2: Blizzard having D3 as an mmo would detract all of its online players from the mmo giant, wow, which they are still currently releasing expansions 4.
there were many others but i cant remember them. If u can remember, pls chime in...
cheers.

Just PM me if you're intrested in playing DOTA through SICK.
i would not p2p diablo 3... if i just payed 50-60 bucks for a game, why in the hell would i pay more money just to keep playing it? you payed to take this program to your house and install it on your computer, so you got the whole game, and now you have to pay them like they're doing you a favour? no way, thats outrageous, its gotta be free, if i told my parents i have to pay to play this game some more they'd smack me
right now the yes is 49 % and no is 51%
i also hope that d3 cant be hacked/made unfun for ppl being killed by hackers. maybe 10-15% is hackers and it might bring more attention because it is say to be very good.
i also think in D3 depending on how much strength % dexterity you have you can hold more... sort of like it was on the ps2 game Champions of Norath
not that i'm saying it wouldn't still be a kickass game even if it did have it.
Hacks are only good for people who can't play the game ( and for people that are scared that they will die once they pop around a corner) or you've beaten the game a thousand times and are just doing mf.
i would spend over a $1,000,000 just to play d3 first before it comes out (if i had that much to spend)
i voted yes but mostly because, i need a new big 'd'. i've taken a pass on all mmo's so far (except for wow beta) because i dont want to pay over 10 bucks a month for a game i already bought. please stay free but i'll take what i can get.

if everything were free in the world we would all be dead -Saddam Huessain, OSama Pinata, JK but we probably would be dead anyway. Paying to keep idiot noobs off the internet helps. Pay 2 Play is not soo gay.
well, just because you dont wanna pay doesent mean your a noob, what if you wanna save money for something more important? or what if your income isent so good? even with p2p, there will always be some noobs around there, besides, we were all noobs at one point, it wouldnt hurt to help them out once in a while

They also ask for your credit card so you might want to be careful with it.
Guild wars is a MMORPG that isn't pay to play and has a 8.2 rating, the second best ranking in class.
