I order to shave the last time off, and reach 80m+ xp per hour, you would need to dual wield and with a mighty weapon in main hand. That way you can have 100% uptime on wotb (20% movement speed) Its imposible with a Skorn. What your doing now is the max performance of two handing barbs. Consider to dual wield if you want to reach the magic 80m,
Toss in wotb instead of leap depending on your dps. Trash should should die to your tornados.
or
Wotb instead of leap and overpower with momentum instead of rend.
or
Wotb instead of rend, and change furious charge run to stamina.
There is many options. Pick the one that suits your needs best. Wotb needs 100% uptime. The movement speed it grants is essential for the efficiency.
Since your play low mp levels, you dont need higher weapon dmg, you dont need higher burst. Its all about speed. Dual wield gives you that speed. Take a decent mighty weapon in your main hand an some medium echoing offhand. Play correctly with that weapon setup and i guarantee you that you xp per hour increases by 10 mill. Dont fool yourself with tooltip dps, its increadible missleading.
Dual wield mp1 with 100% uptime on wotb and your above 80m xp per hour.

The problem for many of us is that our DPS is too high to maintain WOTB below MP 4, yet it takes more than a couple of passes to kill elites at this level and thus efficiency is lost.

Your problem is because you play standard ww build on mp1... You need to rethink your build and use the extra fury generators the game offer. Furiois charge with stamina, overpower with momentum. Use the tools you have avaible and you will see your problems solved and your xp gain go up.
No, my standard whirlwind build is 300k buffed dps, not counting my Tyrael's 14% to demons bonus. I farm MP0 and drop WOTB and use Charge with Animosity and Unforgiving.
Running without wotb has a price. That price is lost efficiency.
Its more than posible to run mp1 with full uptime on wotb. I know first hand, since i did it for 44 paragon levels myself. WW with furious charge(stamina) and/or overpower(momentum) Animosity, unforgiven (both passives) and a templar.
Whatever you want to do it or not, is your choice. Just saying not doing it have its price. Lost efficiency.
2h suck. yes, faster kill, but cannot keep wotb up. I dw with a echoing fury and able to keep wotb up the whole time. only problem with the echoing fury is it high fear. really annoying.
I use cleave with the aoe on crit for my main attack, i can literally fill 120 fury in ONE swing on a pack of 5 mobs.
Even ww spec, tbh, if you kill stuff with first crit, I'm not quite sure if ias skorn and overall ias gear is mandatory for this. Trash dies to first tornado crits anyways, if they crit for over 100k at mp0. So you get no benifit of it ticking faster, in terms of fury generation. There is also passive fury generation that is big part of this build.
I feel like with seriously overgearing content, no wotb build ias might not be that important, even for ww/tornado build.
I don't think IAS matters for this build at all either. I also want to suggest again that you guys give Merciless Assault another shot. It doesn't gain speed, because of the animation stall at the end, but I don't think it loses it either... I think the increased speed from the charge itself cancels out with the stall and its the same as if you had just run that distance. But what it does do is #1 increase your fury generation significantly, meaning you can drop animosity and run both ruthless and weapon master, and #2 do near instant 195% weapon damage to an entire elite pack. Instead of overpower, my combo is to leap > rend > charge, making sure sprint is active. if you point it the right direction this will kill all but the highest HP elite packs without losing any time. I think being able to run both DPS passives along with the extra 30% weapon dmg on charge vs overpower more than makes up for any DPS loss from the killing spree bonus.
i recently going went back to my barb and was looking for the fastest plvling build. i noticed that almost every build still use WW as the main attack. is this still the most suitable one if i use a skorn?
Have you guys settled on a spec? For now I think I like Merciless Assault + Overpower the best, leaving out Leap, and using Thunderstrike over Rend. But Aerialus it looks like your profile is back to rend?
Also, where do you guys go after Tower of the Damned 1 in your Alkaizer route? The standard route is Crater 2, but I hate going there with less than 5 stacks.
Overkill - momentum = almost nil cooldown spammable burst aoe dmg + full fury regen all in one.
Furious Charge - merciless assault = no cooldown spammable burst aoe dmg + full fury regen + short dash all in one.
Which i find more efficient over ground stomp or leap's low fury high cooldown.
basically you want to be able to sprint 90%+ of the time
The op's build made me want to play the game again. I'm way below your gear level but at 75k ish dps, and mp0-1, this build introduced a whole new level of fun for me
I'm posting this with a little embarassment because I've been a big cheerleader for using Skorns and 2 hand builds, but yesterday/today I tried using the exact same build but with two high DPS 1 handers, and I have to say that the results are improved for me over using the Skorn.
As you can see, I'm still using the exact same spec that we're talking about here, and I'm playing it exactly the same way that I was playing it with the Skorn. It's just that on MP0 with good enough DPS you really don't need the Skorn's high base damage to 1 shot the trash, and the DW setup makes elites faster because there is less delay. It also generates more rage because of the higher tick rate on WW and the tornadoes.
Anyways, I still think this is the best build for farming XP/items on MP0, but as much as I like Skorn I'm not sure that's better for this build than using a DW setup unless you are on a budget.

82m xp /hour. Sometimes 86m others 77m. Id say an average would be around 82m xp per hour.

After some testing of builds, I have settled with a simpler and therefore efficient/easy build
