ya that argument about the barb can only be solved by the release and testing them both.
as for the wizard, spectral blade is the most important ability because of the rune that gives 100% critical dmg returned as life, main point in surviving. and the +20% to defense rating with a ton of defense stacked gear will make you have a shit ton of dmg reduction. and yes id rely on the images taking some of the attention away from me. and blur and galvanizing ward help a lot with surviving in melee also.
id say a good sub build, ONLY if that 45% dmg returned is enough. you could sub indigo rune in spectral blade for far more dmg and a huge radius. and replace galvanizing ward with glass cannon too. would make your spectral blade pretty much 3x better with hitting a lot more guys. still worried about surviving though in inferno. I'm thinking the wizard even with tons of defense it will only take a few hits to kill him so therefor he NEEDS the super life steal to constantly return him to full health and then meteor in between. but again, release will tell. so excited to actually test out all these builds
Lol, Barbarians have always been suceptable to ranged / casters. If your surrounded by melee and your a barb... chances are your gunna be fine regardless of your build... thats what barbs are built for. Its when your surrounded and u have casters / ranged picking you off that u get your ass handed to you, during battle when your running around trying to kill these high value targets or targets with magical affixes that do insane burst what if u miss a globe? will you die?
Of all the builds ANY1 has suggested here you are using the most bottomless argument... you have no IDEA how health globes will work.. i can tell u that 25% lifesteal is 25% lifesteal... and i can tell you that melee characters in diablo die to explosions and aoe burst, thats what kills us 90% of the time unless u are dying to player error, both of which are magic dmg.
Your orb dropping spec is the same thing as my original spec except a few skills that are purely preferance and need testing and u took 100% armor and 100% torn dmg with ur orb dropping shit, and i took 10% lifesteal and 20% less dmg from magic and ranged and generate fury when u take dmg from magic / ranged. 100% MORE armor... so u wanna guard against MORE melee... and what if u kill a mob infront of u... and it drops a health globe... but they other mage is behind u 10 feet away... u could jump to him with my build... but with yours u gotta take a step forward and grab your globes, i dont like that, i like to stay in the fight and i would rather not worry about globes, they drop? awesome. they dont? im still fine.

again your arguing in vein because you have no new info to bring to the table. double health globes all over the screen will make you invincible, you think 25% life steal will do better? thats laughable in a serious way. ill have whatever life steal from my gear PLUS the orbs. because theres no way your doing that much insane damage that 10% life steal out ways 200% healing orbs that are everywhere constantly. so again, these ideas have to be TESTED in order for either of us to "win". i don't think life steal is shit, you don't think globes are shit. thats all it is, matter of OPINION at this point until release.
orbs > 60% life over 1 min + 10% lifesteal is i guess the real issue then? lol......?
200% orbs dropping MORE often > 60% health of 1 min + 10% life steal yes, thats our entire issue, lmao
so until we know how good health globes are and how good life steal is. we won't know who's right. i think i am, you think you are. clearly were headed for epic fail e-mail tag
Meh i was bored today at work, so im glad we have different opinions maybe when we both get the game we can come back here and see who was right. Im not stupid and i realize u very well could be right depending on how the orbs scale with difficulty and frequency and what not, but it will be SO much fun to try all this shit out... hope this game dosnt come out any later than feb / march 2012 or i might SLASH WRISTS. lol.

dude i already //wrists soon as i woke up to see "diablo 3 pushed back to 2012". it literally ruined my whole fucking week. is that sad? lol. but ya we won't know who's right till release. but barb will be my 3rd character. wizard - WD - barb - monk - DH. in that order, lol.
No its not sad, my life has been ruined since that day... it took a step in the right direction when i preordered the collectors edition and found out u get facking WINGS, but all in all im in a fit of constant rage because of that pushback.

ya me too because i can no longer play wow, and starting any other game seems pointless. i really needed it to come out nov-dec.... em i supposed to get a fucking life or something? fuck that. lol. i thought i could play TL2 or POE while i waited but both of those were pushed back like 4 times already... won't be released till basically december..
yeah it sucks... and like you i can no longer stand world of warcraft... i have had enough.. lol. so i play Sc2 / LoL and i wait... and i slowly go insane...

Well, what I meant is that the 40% loot rune by itself is meaningless without context. Percentage to drop loot doesn't matter in the long run, only drops per minute do (will some other skill kill mobs more than 40% faster than hammer of the ancients? Probably.). And because Hammer of the Ancients is a single target, probably rather slow hitting (from the videos it was shown in, it has a rather long cast animation), high damage skill, I'm not yet sure whether it's a good farming skill (bosses, maybe?).
Once again, it's too early to say for sure. It's also too early to say whether Hammer of the Ancients attack speed will be affected by Frenzy.
A very potential problem arises from how Frenzy will function (whether it works best with quick weapons) while as I could see Hammer of the Ancients benefit most from high-damage, slower weapons (of course, this is 100% speculation before we play the game).
Hammer and Frenzy are both in beta, so we actually do know quite a bit about how they work.
Hammer casts very quickly, it's not slow at all. It's based on weapon speed. If I had to guess, I'd say it's basically equal to a swing, but I don't have any testing data to back that up.
Frenzy's increased attack speed only affects Frenzy, it does not affect any other skill.
So the basic tradeoff between fast and slow weapons is more attacks that do less damage vs. fewer attacks doing more damage. A Hammer with fast weapons does less damage, but you'll also generate fury faster and thus will cast more Hammers than you would with a slow weapon.
Hammer is also not single target. It's small area AOE. For monsters that cluster tightly (zombies), it can hit quite a few. For larger monsters (Unburied), it's a one hit deal.
I have tried a Frenzy build with a two-hander and I didn't like how it felt. The Frenzy buff duration is very short, so you have to start it up again on every mob group. It takes too long to swing a two-hander before you start getting the benefit of the attack speed. Not that it's not viable, I just prefer DW for Frenzy much more.
You pointed out something of great interest revealing the 2-hand weapon vs dualwield dilema. In Wow, you could make macros which let you automize certain things like swaping weapons (2hvsDW). Using this swaping device, some things may become feasable. For exemple, with "Weapons master", you can dualwield mighty weapons first to generate fury using frenzy (incredible 10 fury per attack total). When Overpower kicks in, you can trade off the dual-wielded mighty weapons for a 2h weapon with a different bonus from "Weapons master" like the 5%crit. Then you and start using fury spenders.
In Wow, those macro where easy to create. Will this be something we will be able to tool with in D3?

ya man. my only fun in wow was leveling and using new characters. so i have all 10 classes at 85. well i deleted 1 to make room for the monk with the new expansion. i bought that annual pass so i could get D3 for free and beta access for the MOP. i have to at least try it. lol. but ya man I'm going insane too. i bought dragon age 2 but that stinks.
