I would not compared D3 to D2. Those games are miles away even if they seem so close to each other from a sequel stand point. But the truth is that D3 did not delivered what people hoped for. No skill balance at all and seeing that no work as been put into it. No PVP which is the 1st reason I stopped playing. and then, itemization, challenge, villain personalities, storyline... and i coudl go like this for hours. The system, graphics, control is good but it is missing a lot of things.

Will there be a better future for d3, i think so. But for now, it feels like buying a pizza and having it delivered with half of the slices missing.

On a side note, i don't really give a shit about you Ruksak fanboy. Never enjoyed your posts. Maybe you can step down from your cloud and come live with us mortals.

posted a message on Malthael's reason behind stealing the black soulstone
    Quote from Jinshin

I wonder if each of the angels derives their power from a particular artifact? The Worldstone was at the center of Creation because it embodied life and death. With it gone, there is an imbalance. Perhaps Malthael perceives an excess of life and seeks to balance the equation?

Or perhaps -- and this is exciting -- I wonder if he intends to attract the attention of the rest of the Angiris Council, bring them to Sanctuary, and then bind them into the stone to cancel out the power of the Prime Evils? However, Tyrael's lost his essence of Justice and thus leaves the equation unbalanced. If this IS involved in the recreation of the World Stone, then it may be biased towards Evil, thus bringing Sanctuary one step closer to the Final Day -- all because of Tyrael. Which I find to be fittingly tragic and ironic. :D

Further more, from what we now know, the final confrontation in ROS should take place in the Pandemonium fortress.

    How do you figure?

In the GamesCom interview with Josh Mosquiera:

What variation of environments are we going to see in the expansion — we have seen some like Westmarch, Bloodmarch — what can we expect?

We were just sorta teasing some of the zones, but we can’t mention them. So I’ll cover the Bloodmarch.
The Bloodmarsh is an area outside of the city of Westmarch. It’s a very cool area, it’s one of our more fun and dangerous looking zones we have in the game.
Actually you see some of it in the opening cinematic, where the Black Soulstone is buried. Where Archangel Malthael comes and steal it from Tyrael. It’s underneath the Bloodmarch, and it does exist in the game right now.
The other area you will be exploring is the Pandemonion Fortress. It’s sort of the heart of creation, and that’s going to be a really great counterpoint to the more gothic feeling of Westmarch. The players will really love the journey from Westmarch to the Bloodmarch to the Pandemonium.
It’s a place where the angels and demons have fought over forever.

    Quote from Drkclone

    Quote from 1up_Mush

Malthael did not just abstain because he was not wise enough to decide. He abstain because he did not care. At least this is what he said and what's written. Malthael first purpose is not hunting down the Nephalems. Remember that the event that really mattered to Malthael is the destruction of the world stone. This is what drove him crazy. This is where he started all is wondering thinking about the meaning of life and death. He did not give a fuck about Nephalems.

Malthael was first interested in getting his hands on the black soul stone. Why? He wants some sort of power in order to achieve something. That something is presumed to be righteous intent since El'druin passed trough him.

Malthael then goes wandering about collecting the essences of demons, angels and the living things upon sanctuary. What will happen when all Angels and demons will be trapped into the black soulstone? Seems to me like the essence of Anu and Tathamet being reunited. Will the black soul stone form the pearl that was once at the beginning of all time?

Now, this is what you find on Wiki when you search for Anu:

Made of shining diamond. Anu was the sum of all things: good and evil, light and dark, physical and mystical, joy and sadness—all reflected across the crystalline facets of its form. And, within its eternal dream-state, Anu considered itself—all of its myriad facets. Seeking a state of total purity and perfection, Anu cast all evil from itself. All dissonance was gone. But what of the cast-off aspect of its being? The dark parts, the sharp, searing aspects of hate and pridefulness? Those could not remain in a state of separation, for all things are drawn to all things. All parts are drawn to the whole. Those discordant parts assembled into the Beast-the Dragon. Tathamet was his name-and he breathed unending death and darkness from his seven devouring heads. The Dragon was solely composed of Anu's cast-off aspects. The end sum of the whole became a singular Evil- the Prime Evil, from which all the vileness would eventually spread throughout existence.

The diamond warrior and the seven-headed dragon proved to be the equal of the other, neither ever gaining the upper hand in their fierce and unending combat-till at last, their energies nearly spent after countless millennia of battle, the two combatants delivered their final blows. The energies unleashed by their impossible fury ignited an explosion of light and matter so vast and terrible that it birthed the very universe all around us.

Now, once again, i will ask you guys, what will happen if Malthael successfully traps all aspects, dark and light? Will it result in the creation of a new universe? Malthael became a madmen because of the world stone. He probably found the way to feed his needs. If Malthael was to revive the worldstone or a new universe, this would definitely be something that we could call righteous intents. I believe that Malthael is still haunted by the world stone and all his actions are driven by that. Why Malthael did not appeared earlier in the story? Seems to me like he appeared not long after the black soulstone was retrieved.
Where do you get this connection of him not carrying? Also, he was shrinking into darkness before the worldstone's desctruction. It was after that when he left the High Heavens. Also, if he wanted to trap every angel and demon in the stone, why did he leave Tyreal? Malthael sensed that he was not mortal, he most likely knew that he was actually a fallen angel. Though I doubt he knew that it was in fact, Tyrael. And also, if he did trap every angel and demon, who would be able to control the Soulstone to create a new universe? As we have already seen, the Lords of Hell can hardly be contained in the stone. So all of the Archangels being in it as well could quite possibly destroy it.

Malthael said himself that he does not care in "The vailed prophet".

"Whatever the choice in the end, it does not matter for me... I abstain."

Selathiel says in D3 act4 that Malthael was lost to them the moment the world stone disappear.

"Much uncertainty surrounds the archangel Malthael. Once the calm guiding hand of wisdom, he was lost to us the moment the Worldstone disappeared. Unable to fathom that catastrophic event, he abandoned Heaven. His departure has created a colossal fracture within the council, one that to this day remains unrepaired."

I think that Malthael left Tyrael live because he was not "an angel" as to speak. Tyrael became mortal so it might not be the time to removes Tyrael's essence right now for Malthael. Maybe he is waiting for Tyrael to regain his angelic powers.

About trapping everything in the soul stone, if you recall correctly, Anu was the sum of all to begin with and all of this was contained in something similar to a pearl. That pearl exploded to create the universe after the final blow was dealt by Anu and Tathamet.

posted a message on Malthael's reason behind stealing the black soulstone
I believe that Malthael is seeking out the power of the black soulstone in order to reach the status of god and be able to bring back the World stone or something equivalent that would allow him to create life. There is duality between life and death. Death cannot exist if life does not exist and life cannot exist without death. This means that Malthael would need the worldstone in order to maintain his own existance. This would also explain why El'druin did not harm Malthael.

Malthael did not really care about Sanctuary or the humans. "Whatever the choice in the end, it does not matter for me... I abstain." The thing he really cared about was the World stone and its power that enables the creation of life. "He was lost to us the moment the world stone disappeared" (Selathiel)

"Some speculated that he haunts the silent halls of Pandemonium, seeking answers to the unknowable mysteries of life and death."

Further more, from what we now know, the final confrontation in ROS should take place in the Pandemonium fortress.

    Quote from Drkclone

And, at the End of Days, Wisdom shall be lost
as Justice falls upon the world of men.
    Valor shall turn to Wrath
and all Hope will be swallowed by Despair.
Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all
    as Fate lies shattered forever.
I feel the prophecy has actually not been fulfilled yet. I will argue that Valor has not turned to Wrath, but instead was consumed by Pride when he ignored help and denounced Tyreal. And Fate, is currently not shattered. Sure he can't see the future of the Nephalem, and I doubt he could see Maltheal falling, but what is the one thing that could cause Fate to be shattered forever? The rise of Tathamet.

    Who wrote the Prophecy? Itheral?

The other thing I want to add is that I think it was always highly presumptuous for Tyreal to call himself 'Wisdom'

I think that Maltheal IS STILL WISDOM and at the End of this expansion (RoS) he 'will be lost' and then the prophecy will really begin!

I also think that 'FATE lies shattered forever' will actually refer to Nephalems having free will...

I think that Malthael is really death. I think it was in Athene's interview that Josh acolyte(can't remember is name) said that Malthael was death.

I think that Malthael is seeking the same power Kule was seeking from the black soulstone. He might want to infuse the power of the soulstone (after trapping as many soul as he can) to make himself a god of death. I think that "fate lies shattered forever" refers to the black soul stone being shattered and thus putting an end to the possibility of trapping the demons soul anymore.

posted a message on Efficient farming, SC or HC?
    Quote from Shad3slayer

Well I had a very good char who could play mp8-10 very efficiently in SC so... in HC I'm still pretty scared of dieing (haven't ever died yet), and disconnects are a bigger threat than you let it sound. Not just unstable ISP, but Bnet itself is pretty unreliable with its random lags and disconnects that happen at least a few times every week. One of those is bound to go wrong sooner or later (probably sooner) even if you have a lot of EHP, and especially if you play a "softcore" build.

Since you also got Sc, when you see that a thunder storm is coming or that your connection feels unstable, switch to Sc.

posted a message on Efficient farming, SC or HC?
    Quote from Shad3slayer

Well first the obvious point: most people die in Hardcore, sooner or later. ESPECIALLY people used to max efficiency in SC, not caring about survivability but just kills/ hour.

Other than that, HC farming is far slower for obvious reasons as you have to be balanced/ more focused on survivability than in SC if you want to survive any meaningful period of time.

Also people on HC on average play far lower MP than they would with the same chars on SC (for example my SNS Wizard is geared enough to easily farm mp7 with only the occasional death, but I play mp2 in HC. Occasional deaths are too many deaths in HC, obviously :P). Which means less paragon lvls and less drops. Far less drops. And the chance for you to get a really good drop isn't THAT much higher than in SC. In HC top tier godly items go for like 500 mil, as people just have far less gold in general. So if you'd for example get a 6% crit Mempo in HC it'd be worth less than in SC I think.

But on the other hand, I have a friend whose best drops ever (in 700h /played) in SC were around 60-70 mil, and in his first few hours in Inferno HC he got a 10% crit chance Stormshield with 31% block chance, which sold for 500 mil (equivalent of 1.6 bil in SC), which would have been salvage material on SC.

I for example just enjoy playing HC for the better economy and adrenaline. But on the whole I'd say SC is far more efficient, if you were just playing for money/ gold.

Personnaly, i don't play any different from Hc than i do for Sc. I am pretty good at video games with over 20yrs background at playing constantly and i know some people are not able to achieve as much as i can but i think that the risk is worth it. Saying everyone will die sooner or later is debatable since if you play safely mp1 and can handle say mp6, the risk of dying aint that high if you dont get any badluck with disc.I am in no way slower on Hc than i am on Sc and i mostly farm around mp3 with my monk.

Of course high end gear is worth as much in Sc if not even more than Hc but if you average everything out, Hc gives you more bucks for your gear than Sc does and not only a little bit more.

The difference between max mf at mp0 and max mf at mp10 is 250% from the NV stacks. If one can be as efficient at farming mp10 on softcore than me on mp0 Hc, thats not even twice as effective for drops. Trading Sc gold for Hc gold already gives me better efficiency from farming Hc than Sc.

Frankly, from my own experience (played all 5 classes Hc/Sc (monk Hc lvl86 and monk/barb Sc around lvl45)) i don't see how Sc can be more efficient. But, as i mentionned i don't change my playstyle at all from Sc to Hc.

posted a message on Efficient farming, SC or HC?
Since the SC economy is totally screwed up right now and since there as been a lot of nerfing done to the inferno difficulty, i am just curious to know why there aint more people playing Hc even tho they think Sc is the way to go. I mean, someone could farm gold on hardcore, cash out and make a godly sc caracter.

Gold from Hc to Sc is 2:1 3:1 ratio. The items on Hc sell for way more than for Sc right now. To me it seems like simple math, farming Hc and then returning to Sc with all that $$$ seems like the best way to farm right now even if you are a Sc lover. I know some people will say that you risk loosing much more on Hc but i see this as taking the lottery and either loosing your money or earning big. What do you think? To some extent, Sc can possibly be better for farming if you can do efficiently mp8+ right now but for lower mps...

posted a message on Hardcore AH out of control
AH on Hc makes sense but on SC it is totally screwed up. If you have moderate luck and you are efficient at farming, you will quickly earn all the money you need to faceroll mp1 quickly. Personnally, i made my way up to lvl60 with all caracters. Once there, i bought MF gear for my monk and after approx 12hrs farming, i found a leoric signet. I then bought good budget gear for my barb. Start farming inferno act3 and after the 1st pack of elite, i killed a trash mob which dropped me a nat's boot with 260 dex and 55 vit. Ok, i got lucky but if you are at least a decent player, you can easily achieve decent gear in less than a week after reaching inferno.
