Hi all, just wanted to mention that I have been playing PS3 D3 with my wife and step daughter. I have to admit it is a lot of fun and feels different to the PC version. Loot is the biggest change of cause, it is not over done I think, you get up grade at a pretty good pace just when you think you need one. Legs drop a lot more then PC (that would not be hard considering the state of the game) and it seems about 60/40 whether it is usable or not for your character. I think you get more drops in co-play then single. Skills seem more buffed but that could be more the better gear then anything.
Over all I really like the consol version, there is a sense of reward from playing. We are in nightmare and have found 2 puzzle rings (never on PC with Barb Plvl59) and boy!!! is it fun having couple of treasure gobs running around while fighting a elete pack. Trouble is I have now got no interest in playing the PC version, it is boring and unrewarding and probably will not play until the loot 2.0 comes out. But the consol has made me look forward to loot 2.0 just so much more then before, wish it did not take so long and the the dev team now was there from beginning (They are doing a great job)
I like the console version way more. It takes a while to build up your character from scratch when there is no auction house but that's just part of the game.
I hope Loot 2.0 and the expansion come to console as I am never going to go back to the pc version. To me right now, the pc version is unplayable, 99.9% of drops are useless junk, not that I care anymore anyways as like I say, I have a new home on console.
Alas, as the author of the article points out, it is not a complete view: "We won't know the total console Diablo III sales figures until Blizzard decides to release that info."
Some of the itemization on Console is horribly balanced. A good example is the pride of Casius (spelling) why the hell would blizzard make a belt with Main stat, Vit, CD, Attack speed and CC along with a strong defensive stat like melee reduction? This makes that belt the only one ill ever need on my barb...
And whats the deal with the 1h weapons? Why am i getting 1200-1400+ dps 1hers but i cant find a decent 1400+ 2h that equals them in stats? Trying to play as a two handed character is broken on console.
Also why add in smart drops that damn near roll perfect and then for crafting only have the item roll a main stat with everything else random? this makes crafting pure sh*t! Also not rerolling those legendary recipes to max level was a complete fail on blizzards part... who the hell needs a level 45 legendary or set recipe? and why do the actual level 60 recipes only roll PC DPs values 800-1k?
I also don't understand why every Set and legendary item has to be so boosted that Rares are worthless in the game? Why kill off rare gear? once you are in full lego and set items you can basically stop looting rares which takes away a lot of the fun of discovery for people.
I get that you are having fun OP but the console version has a ton of issues and im getting tired of casuals coming to these forums and getting super excited about nice leveling gear... At endgame the console version is almost as broken as D3 on PC...
My level 60 para 25+ barb is sitting in inferno Master 5 (mp10) with 400k unbuffed Dps, 700 buffed all res and 110k health, 9% LS, 1600 LoH, 650CD and 65% CC. With under 100 hours played yet my stat composition is a complete mess but what incentive do i have to fix it? im facerolling the entire game. I actually fell asleep last night playing master V act 1...
I have to agree that I've been spoiled by console. I've got two 60s and a paragon of 4 (Not very high I know lol but one must earn the money). I have a DH and a Monk. On my DH I already have a 2 piece Nat and on my Monk 2 piece Inna. We've been getting loot I've never even seen before. I have to say though my two favorite items I've gotten to date are the pox faulds pants the stinky buff is funny and the butcher's sickle on my monk. There is something rewarding about seeing it fly out at enemies.
With my plvl 82 barb ( 412 hours of play time ), I jumped into the console version and played about 10 hours on inferno, and I never had much fum on 400 hours on pc...The gear on console makes the playtime so rewarding and depending on the gear , your really feel its power upgrading you. I wont touch pc version till 2.0 ... console is so exciting to play !!
Yep, I've had the same experience; Actual rewarding loot, and knowing that when a legendary drops, there's actually a REALLY good chance it's usable!
Can't wait for loot 2.0 ><
Until you already have that legendary and it drops again. Then you're eventually stuck deciding between is it worth playing while having next to no chance of getting an upgrade vs torturing yourself trying to get perfect gear on the console which makes it hard to trade.
I think D3 was a testament to how long the majority(read not us) will play an ARPG that they aren't getting upgrades in or a real sense of progression. Paragon can only help so much.

The choise of words here makes me believe you do not like playing the actual game and hunting the items.
"Torture" yourself? Having D3 as a Testament? If anything, this would be the time for celebrations if anything, given the oncoming updates.
I like finding upgrades but the simple fact of the matter is with good loot dropping frequently getting upgrades becomes harder. It's just a fact of how the system works. I think long term without the rose tinted glasses.
Do you understand how much harder it is to find an item that has 6 perfect stats vs an item that has 6 top 5 % rolls vs 6 top 10% rolls? The torture is trying to get perfect gear with the trade system on the console.
My point is that when d3 launched ppl quit because getting an upgrade was few and far between and the content wasn't tuned properly. With loot 2.0, if the console is any indication, getting upgrades will come fast at first and rapidly diminish.
It's going to be the same thing but this time you'll have a higher quality set of gear before you hit the "no upgrade/progression". It's a fine system for me because I want perfect gear. But for the majority, they don't care about a 1-2% difference. At least not enough to keep "hunting" for that drop.
All that I'm saying is improved drops are a good and bad thing. Very few people care to look at all angles though.

And this is why a Ladder is coming. And that is why it was in D2
And this is why a Ladder is coming. And that is why it was in D2
Oh I know that. Btw there's more of a possibility of there being 2 ladders than just 1. 1 perpetual paragon ladder and then the seasonal ladder. The latter being would be the equivalent of a d2 ladder, while the former would be what we play currently. But the length of the season is going to matter a lot in managing the item hunt wall.
If it's like the console a player like me will hit the wall in a few weeks max, others will do it faster and the majority slower about +2 months. So unless it's something like 2-3 months, I'm skeptical of how useful it will be in preventing the loot ceiling being hit by the majority.
Also ladders weren't in d2 until 1.10 which is over 2 years after LOD was released and more people played concurrently prior to 1.10 than post. Because what happened was exactly what I said. People hit that loot wall really quick and with a ladder system, perfecting your gear was hardly worth the effort. Especially at first when blizzard wasn't vocal about reset dates.

You know when you throw out "casuals" as an insult it makes it really easy for people to ignore everything you say.

You know a legitimate point... is still a legitimate point. It doesn't matter how it's said. Emotions are a detriment to objectivity. Food for thought.
Just want to clarify, I don't condone people being douches for the sake of it. Despite being guilty of it myself lol. Bottom line is information is information, just try to read between the lines

See, my problem with these kind of posts is that it's very short sighted. The main thing the console version does is bump up the numbers. It's still the same basic itemization (with less stuff dropping of course). You'll run into the same boring loot grinds that you find on pc on the console too when you have everything you want. And by the sounds of the insane drop %'s on console, it will happen even faster then it does on pc.
While the loot may be a nice change of pace (for the very short term) the other things about the console version for me make the improved loot not worth it.
The interface is hideous compared to the pc version. I understand that compromises were needed to be made, but that doesn't make it any less horrid to use.
The game looks awful with washed out blurry textures and bad screen tearing. I've also noticed frame rate dips on the PS3 version as well.
The dash or roll everyone has been talking about is next to useless because it's not any faster then your base movement speed. I found this to be very frustrating and pointless as it's no faster to walk out of an arcane beam then it is to dodge out of it. I understand there's a window of invulnerability, but this window is so small, it's next to useless. I basically never used the dodge while playing the console version.
Targeted spells like Grasp of the Dead suck with a controller because you can't decide exactly where to use it like you can with the mouse.
Overall, anyone coming from the PC version will find an inferior product in the console version if they are willing to look passed the "OMG BIGGER NUMBERS" insta gratification loot system.

That's crazy talk.
Seriously I'm loving the console version myself too.
