There are ideas being thrown out there about how Blizzard could essentially fix endgame farming in Diablo 3. One popular idea seems to be to add an infinite dungeon of sorts.
So we've got these different kinds of treasure goblins running around Sanctuary, and players like to kill them for their loot. Goblin hunting seems to be pretty fun, and there's lore to support some kind of area on the other side of the goblins' portals where mass amounts of treasure and such are (clearly, if there are goblins running around with treasure all over the place, they've got to be dumping it all somewhere).
Cue my suggestion for added content that could fall into the category of an infinite dungeon:
Make an achievement where killing twenty goblins (any combination) unlocks a portal to the goblin world/infinite farming dungeons. Maybe add a portal you can click on next to your character and banner on the screen after you log in/before joining a game.
So now you've got this place where you can go to do nothing but farm. Each level could be decorated differently, and monsters could change according to the themes (ie. ice levels, fire levels, undead levels, etc). Hell, I bet it'd be really easy for Blizzard to tweak/make some new goblins to encounter that actual do battle with players (essentially make a goblin bigger like "Avenger" does).
Maybe in this place we could actually find resplendent treasure chests more, too (I find one every 10 farming games in act 1 now, so that'd be very nice).
I don't know if anything I've come up with would be good for Blizzard to try, but I think there's a lot of potential with these goblins that came out of nowhere in Diablo 3, and I'm betting doing more with goblins could really give players what we feel we're lacking in endgame farming.
Please leave at least some sort of substantial constructive criticism below.
Only 20 goblins to get access to this 'infinite' dungeon? That's way too low. You'd unlock it by the mid-nightmare mode and then just grind the dungeon 'till you reach the level cap. 200 would sound better, and at least a bit more challenging to achieve.
I believe that Blizzard should focus most of their time solely on Inferno, and I'm more in favor of the infinite wave-like events. Let's say Jar of Souls, but not nearly as boring, and much more challenging. Diablo 3 really lacks good meaningful quests and fun events. Everything they did was bland and as simple as it gets. People were right to expect more from Blizzard, at least in that part of the game design.
We'll most probably get to see a lot more of the goblin lore in the next expansion, perhaps even venture into their domain, but I hardly think they'll add anything drastic before that.

I agree with the amount of goblins, but I was trying to remember how many goblins I killed the first time through normal to act 1 inferno. Definitely wouldn't want someone leveling in the goblin world as an alternative to questing, though.
I think you're right about finding out more about the goblins in expansions (as a matter of fact, if you couldn't already tell, I expect that Blizzard will really give their new goblins the spotlight sometime). There's so much potential.
How confident are people that there will be expansions? I thought there was talk from Blizzard during beta about expansions, but I can't find any evidence for it now.

There is definitely gonna be at least one expansion to Diablo 3. I think that is a given at this moment. You just don't abandon a game that sold 10 million copies in first two months since it's release, and they had two planned expansions (according to the leaked time sheet) long before the game came out.
Blizzard is gonna be looking for ways to fix some of the bigger issues that they won't do through simple patching, and one can hope goblins will play at least a bit bigger role in the story of the game. Killing them is too much fun xD

If something like this were to be implemented, it would be after you have completed Inferno, or have varying difficulty levels, like have 1 for norm, 1 for nm, etc.
As far as expansions, you can pretty much guarantee at least 1, but it will probably take a year and a half to come. And seeing as theres no monthly fee to play, I can't imagine seeing any huge content patches, other than maybe 1 every few months that really won't add much impressive content. 1.04 with its PvP will likely be the most significant patch until an expansion comes.
On a side note, there are guaranteed spawn points for resplendent treasure chests. Almost every two level dungeon/cave that is not part of a quest line has one. If you only see one per 10 games, then you are not looking for them.
Getting 2-4 of them every act 3 run. But i'm starting to wonder why em i spending my time clicking on them, they became such a trashbags that golden colour isn't fit for them.
