For the past few weeks I've had a lot of trouble selling pretty much everything. It seems like people just aren't using the GAH. Is the RMAH where it's all going down? Are lots of people quitting? Or am I just having bad luck?
Best guess: it's some of all of the above. Less players, players targeting the RMAH, players getting saturated with low to mid items and targeting only the top tier.
Hard to say without knowing what you are trying to sell and at what price.
I have been buying less off the AH lately as I have gotten too the point where upgrades are selling at astronomical prices and I am not going to farm/buy gold top get them.
on the other hand, really love seeing over-priced bows getting re-listed for the same amount of gold that it has been not selling for for the past 2 weeks lmao

lol .. yeah. there was a wand I was looking at and the seller had it listed for 100M buyout and now he has it relisted for 200M.
Items aren't selling because more people are quitting, but also they banned all of the botters right before the launch of gold selling on RMAH. I was watching the price of skull grasps as this happened. They were at 35k+, then a week later they are now at 20k+.
I imagine anyone with lots of gold is dumping it to real money since they released gold selling on RMAH. Athene said he sold over 40 billion and gave it to charity.
There seems to be much less demand since there are much less people with the money to spend.
I think a part of it is the inflation has gotten so high and there are getting to be fewer people willing to buy their way to the top. As the more casual and more "wannabe hardcores" leave the game, I think we are seeing fewer people buying gold from 3rd party sites so fewer buyers. Meanwhile, I am seeing mid-level stuff appropriate to doing Act 2 going up and up. Not that I'm sure any of it is selling because I can't find any of it to try, but looking as a buyer, the items I refused to buy for 500k last week are almost all 1 million + now.
I've been trying to sell some:
+(primary stat)
+vit
+all resist
+random thing
+random thing
Had 10 of them, where the randoms were anything crit chance to crit damage, attack speed, health globe etc.... I had zero luck selling them so I decided to put them up for 5k each with a 100 gold bid. Nobody bought them.
I guess its because way too many ppl quitted the game, people who are stuck progressing say act 3, would have stopped playing already, and people who have act 3, 4 on farm, wouldn't be buying items are that you are trying to sell. I wasn't able to sell a single item over the past 2 weeks either.
I used to have a long long friend list when the game first started, but the number of ppl remaining on the list is like less than 10, its ridiculously boring playing this game when you get absolutely no reward, thus no incentive to keep people playing (no lootz drop). What a f'king failed carrot on the stick PoS.
Go to hardcore. The gold AH is alive and well. I put things up before I go to bed and when I wake up about 5 to 7 items have already sold. I put more stuff up and when I come back from work I usually have only 2 or 3 items left on the AH. I am doing price comparisons before putting them up so I know I'm not completely undervaluing them, although I do undercut by a small margin on similar items.
On softcore the prices are drastically lower, but the RMAH and the fact that you can die while farming and continue to farm with the same character have a lot to do with that. Gold is so easy to come by in softcore even if you aren't buying it.
My guess would be that the market has changed and you haven't realized it yet.
An item with:
+ main stat
+ vit
+ all resist
is no longer worth a lot of money UNLESS the stats are high (150+ range) and a high resist all range. If you're trying to sell stuff that has a lot lower rolls you'll have to drastically reduce your price or it won't sell.
There's still a lot of people using the gold AH but they are after higher quality items.

Look, more conspiracy theory BS from Bilge. Shocker. No the GAH is not dead. The GAH is more alive than ever. I have been selling on the GAH non stop over the past 3 weeks and turning around and selling the gold on RMAH. I have acutally been able to sell things for higher prices than before the RMAH had gold selling enabled.
Stop trying to feed your conspiracy theory bullshit to the community. You aren't helping anything and you won;t cause change. If you are so against the things Blizzard has done for D3 then stop playing it.

Take a moment and read the whole thread. A lot of good points and they are correct. The only bullshit on here is your post. Good day.

He had a point though.
Things ARE selling on the gold AH still. You guys are just putting up crap items. Saying it's because people are quitting the game is just silly and a bit ignorant.
Here's what is happening... I'll break it down:
* More people are hitting Inferno and farming Act 1
* Act 1 is dropping more loot with the new patch so the amount of so-so items has skyrocketed
* People already have so-so items (or better) and are after upgrading their gear with high quality items
So basically, demand is down for so-so items and supply is up so people aren't buying them any more. It's a basic economic principle. As a result, the minimum quality of items that sell has increased.
i havent sold shit on the RMAH or GAH for a log time now and i allways undercut, by alot. i got shoulders up on AH for 95 million and all the others are selling for 150+ pretty much same item stats
Maybe the shoulders aren't worth more than 50 million in the first place... ever thought of that?

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.

Exactly. Just because there are similar items on the AH doesn't mean it's the current going price for the item. If it's not selling, it's likely overpriced.
The problem is the lack of item diversity causes everyone to be looking for the same thing. You would think that would drive up prices, and it did, unfortunately everyone is geared pretty well and the best rolled items are now in the tens of millions (and the only items that have actually gained value). As a result, average items that used to sell for a decent chunk of change now go for less than a million, and therefore it takes longer to save up for those perfect rolled "best in slot" items. As for selling items on the GAH, I have no problem at all. I use this guide http://www.reddit.co...tems_on_the_ah/ and my own experience selling to figure out how to price items to sell. As with any market, if the price is right and your item is in demand, it will sell.
TL;DR Average items are plentiful and cheap now, amazing stuff is in higher demand and expensive, use guide(link above)
the shoulders are pretty much as close to perfect as you can get them in the game... so they are worth it
Well try RMAH, or accept the fact your going to have to post them for a long time since most people that have that kind of money already have gear that good and won't be buying it.

Probably more than only one factor.
