1.) You want optional grinding that gives players a unique advantage. WTF does this even mean?
2.) This is a game that can be played solo. There is no role acquisition. There is no tank, healer, dps. There are characters that will do all three.
3.) Cosmetics? WTF? The cosmetics are the items. You're not anything but the character you chose wearing armor. Shove off with your goonish foolery. This is NOT AN MMO.
Blizz has specifically renounced100% immunities for this exact reason.
1) God forbid theres content for people who want to put in a large time investment for a small payoff like a tiny DPS increase....Because if you didnt get the small payoff with no time or effort then its not fair. (/sarcasm)
2) Then why are there a dozen skill choices that only give an advantage when partied? (ie: dmg reduction debuffs/a number of buffs) Its obvious that although you can solo most content while online by yourself that with a perfectly formed party that uses the party buffing skills to their advantage they'll be able to take on the hardest content the quickest.
3) The developers already made armor dyes & are talking about compainons down the track. Cosmetic items are part of the fun of showing off your achievements in online games and luckily the Diablo devs agree.
There are many other great aspects of other MMO games that will work well in the MMO game that is Diablo 3 ~ and that comes from someone who's been playing Warcraft & Diablo titles since they first hit the shelves in the 90's.
careful what you wish for Khaleesi, you'll be paying two monthly subscriptions in no time.
Also i'm pretty sure 12 years ago Diablo 2 had many party skills, so it's not born from MMO's, MMO's were born from Diablo.
Supporting the development of a great game by giving $10 a month so I always have new content to play with my friends honestly sounds like a great deal to me :)!
Lets just hope they make enough money out of the RMAH so that they can support patches without us helping them out with a monthly donation as im sure a few players might get upset if they suddenly made you support the development with a monthly fee.

With WoW in place they can support their children's children's children. I don't think they'll ever make Diablo a pay to play game, for that they have WoW.
As for the RMAH, they'll make a killing on that - that I can guarantee you.
I can't see how it could fail, they set themselves in a good position with this plan since ebay stopped selling. now they get micro transactions... from every single transfer, i dare say they had some top analysts look into this. But yes it won't fail, how successful it will be is yet to be seen though, i am just thankful that sweatshops in China won't be selling on the US RMAH.
I can't really say that i hate MMO's, the only reason i am against Diablo being turned into n outright MMO is it moulding into a WOW skin thanks to WOW's financial success... Diablo is definitely still it's own beast for the time being.
WoW is a dying game atm though, but i'm sure with their new MMO in the works they'll be making a killing from that one, and most likely make it pay to play.

WoW's about to get a new expansion pack that will be bought by over a million players (very conservative estimate as their are 10.2 million active accounts as of february this year)
Selling a million copies of an expansion pack is hardly a sign of a dieing game IMO.
I dare say there are MMO's that release every month that never sell 1/10th of the boxes WoW does a month but yea your right on the point that when their new IP MMO comes out the large marjority of WoW and other MMO players will just move there because they want the largest competition & a studio that can afford to produce content regularly.

Diablo 3 is not an MMO ....
You dont pay a monthly fee,
You can have more than one of the same name on the Server
IT DOESNT FOLLOW the standard MMO recipee. The Chat is not a major function of the game, an MMO is a glorified chat room.
It looks like WOW only because thats the style Blizzard goes for in its games. I played WOW and I don't see anything resembling rather than the way the art is rendered.
The only reason for the internet connection is for DMR and RMAH purposes only...
why do people still think its an MMO when they have stated themselves its not....

Actually interacting with other players through chat, using your skills to heal, buff them and debuff other mobs, trading with them, pvping with them makes this a MMO game.
Whoever doesnt think Diablo 3 is a MMO either works in marketing or has their head in the sand.
Define a diablo fan, as other posters have said this is a meaningless concept, first time I played d2 was about a year ago and i am just as excited for the diablo 3 launch as anyone else, granted i haven't been waiting as long. I was also a fairly heavy wow player until recently, does that make my opinion any less valid? I think the game will be amazing and all the critics will be silenced after launch, any postulation before then is meaningless.

I think your loosing my point though, Yes there is chat interaction but not to the degree that the standard MMO has..
Im pretty sure they could have made it as much non internet connection than internet connection required...
I dont work in marketing , nor do I have my head in the sand, this game just doesnt fit the description of an MMO has. if you have played MMO after MMO , you know what I am talking about ... You wont have someone in game yelling via ingame (and no not talking about the chatroom game menu lobby) to join their guild.... also you dont have access to the zones that are available all the time either as they are randomized... an MMO lets you enter a specific zone all the time.
If they wanted this to be an MMO , they would have charged a monthly fee for the game. and it wouldnt be top down playing, it would be more first person/third person view..

you didnt even play d1? not reading any of your posts

but seriously, you dont need to have played diablo before to be a fan, d3 is an entirely new game, playing d2 wont give you any sort of advantage in d3, so lets just all enjoy the awesomeness that is about to be unleashed!

Agree with Semizzle, theres no need for a divide in the community between veterans of the game and new players for the best experience there needs to be a positive and welcoming community.
no, im still here im a true diablo fan, but that does not make new fans less "true...er" (? <.<)
i will enjoy playing this game whit new fans and its gonna be fun when people understand that this is actually quite a hard game! its not like wow where you can faceroll thru all content and then join a random guild for raids and so on.
it will be fun! (there will also be SOO many casuals (as this is a VERY casual friendly game) buying stuff that we all on this site will go home laughing and pockets full of money xD (gold most of the time)
Haha heey see i brought some real diablo fans out. biggest thing i agree with is diablo 3 did take forever and most of the players are just doing other things waiting for it to come out.
WoW is a dying game atm though, but i'm sure with their new MMO in the works they'll be making a killing from that one, and most likely make it pay to play.
Nah, its subs have gone down, but they are still serveral times more than the nearest other MMO. It's smaller than it was, but it's no way dying. (Unless you mean it in the sense of "closer to when it closes down", but that's kindof meanlingless since it can be applied to any game on its release day.)
OT: Yep, I'm a Diablo fan since D1. Played D1 and D2 to death way back, Really looking forward to D3.
but titan (think its the working title as of now) will defiantly cut the player base from wow.
for a while now other mmo's are copying wow, but blizz is better then that and will make titans a new kind of game, then people will start copying that. thats really how it is.

Preorder at Gamestop still standing ? Yep !
I can prolly say theres still true Diablo Fans out there ^^

And yes, I think D3 is going to be absolutely awesome.
I've been a fan of the Diablo franchise since the Butcher cleaved my Rogue's skull off in 1997.
