so I've seen a few posts of people saying that the game isn't solo able (or at least inferno isn't) or that its just a lot better and easier to team up with people, especially now since you only get your own drops and don't have to worry at all about people ninja'ing your loot. this idea forcing people to play co op to get the gear the fastest.
well I'm here to say that i believe this to be false. the idea that is. no one is forcing anyone to play co op, inferno will be solo able exactly like the rest of the game. how? think about it, each person that joins your game increases monster life and damage, making it a lot harder. and if these people joining are not skilled, especially in inferno mode. they will do the opposite of help you, they will make your party wipe over and over by making stuff stronger and not helping at all. so in this sense it would be EASIER to solo inferno then with 3 people UNLESS those 3 people were very skilled. so if your very good with hot keys and have a good build (like i will) i will solo inferno faster then 90% of groups out there because high chance that AT LEAST 1 or maybe even all 3 of the other people will be noobs (unskilled) and make it take much longer.
by easier to solo i mean, if your a very skilled player you can solo inferno faster then a group of 4 that aren't skilled. but obviously 4 skilled people would go through much quicker then 1.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the game didn't get any harder per each additional party member (or maybe I'm not understanding your post).
If that's the case, I don't think having unskilled players in your team will be so much of a detriment that solo play would be preferable for Inferno. I think it was fairly simple to get fallen members back into the battle after death, and even if they don't know what they're doing it's still more damage output than going by yourself and would split up the enemy's attention.

no the game becomes significantly harder per person that joins the game, yes more damage output but WAY stronger monsters. so if you have a bunch of noobsters playing with you not doing much or barley anything it will make it way harder then if you just by yourself owning. if the game difficulty didn't increase per character that joins then 4 people would be able to steam roll through the entire content of the game in an insanely short amount of time. that would be completely destroy any notion to play solo.
Blizzard will have a lot of trouble properly balancing 4 player and solo... I anticipate solo will be the primary focus, and 4 player may be a bit easier due to the fact that numerical scaling doesn't counteract the extra synergistic bonus of having multiple players. But no, I don't think the drive for gear will FORCE coop, I do think it will encourage coop... but it certainly won't force it.
How will the game's difficulty increase with more players in the game? The team has said that it will increase considerably, to the point that playing solo in a group game will be a very bad idea. But what mechanism will create this? More monster hit points? More monster damage? Improved AI?
That's not been revealed, but @Diablo did confirm, in November 2010, that difficulty was probably going to be based on the number of players in the game, not their Clvl. [4] Difficulty currently increases based on number of players, not their levels. --Diablo"
Couldn't find a link directly to the blue, but that's all i've been able to dig up so far.
you CAN solo inferno, i imagine it would be slow though. All they said was you can expect to die.
Dying by yourself takes a lot longer to fix than dying with friends because of revive. i Think the damage / health ration becomes very tilted and you could find yourself taking huge or dealing very small damage instantaneously.

Oh, I see. Not sure how I missed that fact... I couldn't find it in the Wiki or FAQ here. Y'all have a link to a source that I can read?
