Well it should come to no surprise. They have literally changed everything that was once Diablo into something only slightly similar now. The only thing that seems to remain is lore, and that doesn't make up for game play or the now massive lack of re-playability the game will offer.
Can't customize your skills with points? = every class is the same save for gear... Literally, that's it.
Auction House with real money? = No use for gold, and nobody is going to sell their shit for gold either when they can get some real money for it.
Requirement to be connected to the internet at all times? = Well, might as well say fuck you to anyone with a low internet connection. There are some people I know who planned to just get the game and play without online, because they had bad internet connectivity. Blizzard literally just said Fuck You, to anyone with such a problem.
Can't customize your skills with points? = every class is the same save for gear... Literally, that's it.
I'm sorry but If this is correct does that mean every class will only get 6 skills and 3 passive skills? I think not which means you still have to CHOOSE which 6 skills you will use and which 3 passives and you will still have to choose which skill you want to place your rare runes into. They didn't completely destroy customization...
Now the internet connection issue I can agree with as I do remember playing D2 a lot when I had no internet or for other reasons.
Regarding the Auction House... I mean really either way people would be buying from third parties if Blizzard didn't take matters into their own hands. If you don't want to buy gear don't buy it... It isn't hard to farm items on your own...

Oh yea because taking a rune out and putting it into another skill plus easily switching which 6 active and 3 passive to use at any time is going to be difficult? Were talking about customization here, not combos with the skills everyone already has. I consider runes apart of your gear, wouldn't you agree?
lolz most of the people viewing this are looking to convince the sadfaces that their reasons are superfluous, ie to buy the game. loyal blizz disciples to the very end

Please explain to me how being able to switch out skills on your character so you can play a variety of builds kills the games replayability??? If you can try a new build whenever you want and keep going back to old ones how would that keep one from playing over and over? And don't give me the whole "You don't have to level new characters" argument, because look at D2 where you could literally level from 1-80 in only a few hours. I wouldn't call that amazing replayability myself but Diablo 2 has lasted 10 years...
And I don't get how I am a "blizz disciple" when I have disagreed with many products Blizzard has offered (Quit WoW when they started recycling content over and over, Did not buy SC2).

This one I partly agree with, had hopes that it would require a connection to validate the game or something. But I can see Blizzards PoV on this one: makes cheating with your character alot harder if you can't pull it offline and mess with it. Note that I said it make sit harder, not saying impossible.

What? Sure, re-playability as in the 5 available classes, but who would play the same class over again when it will inevitably be the same setup again and again? People played the same c;asses before because there was always something new to build skill wise with them, but now no matter what you make, they will be the same, time and time again. Even with customization from gear, it's not like you can't store gear for different set ups on the same character within their stash, so people won't be replaying classes just to use different gear with them.

Please link me to the post where Blizzard directly says that each class will only have 6 skills and 3 passives in their entire tree? Do you not get that you will still have to choose which skills you will want to use? You aren't stuck with the same 6 skills and 3 passives for your entire life so I don't get how you can't understand this...
Not only this but what is keeping you from using whatever skills you want to instead of following the Cookie Cutter build? Are you all just brainless zombies that have to do what everyone else does? That's exactly what it looks like.
And with that note; if you can sit and spend $40 (estimate of course) to kit out your characters.. Where's the accomplishment, or fun? Biggest replayability killer for me. If that is stupid in your eyes or not, it is hardly the matter.
They're removing all features that can even remotely cause minor frustration to people, the last being the "skill system". For crying out loud, if people are "respeccing" all the time to take away points from Magic Missile and putting it on Arcane Orb, just make respeccing more restricted (1 per act, escalating gold cost, WHATEVER works). THE SKILLS are different, there's no such thing as "Storm Armor" is tier 4, hence it MUST BE BETTER IN ALL ASPECTS than "Stone Armor" which is tier 2.
That's a really bad joke. And I was here thinking skill tiers were only going to add diversity, and allow further customized builds. I'm only going to have 1 Wizard now instead of 3-4 =/ that's really NOT Diablo like.
They're turning TOO MUCH away from the tradition here. Everything's based of "well, one of our testers was 'feeling' that taking hits from monsters kind of takes away the fun, because you can die, and we don't want people dying for no reason, just once or twice during the game, and we'll tell them that those deaths aren't important, so we're removing any monster ability that can damage the player" = PLZ PLZ, JUST STOP WITH THAT REASONING FOR ONCE, THE GAME IS FRIENDLY AND CASUAL ENOUGH O.O
Can't believe I stayed up for this much frustration =`( I'm almost crying here..
Wow sorry for not adding the still buying the game. I was just nerd raging too hard lol. The beta is not even out, so a lot can be changed. So on a related note....do you think they will let people put real money onto their accounts, for characters that will eventually be deleted once the game is actually released?
...if you can sit and spend $40 (estimate of course) to kit out your characters.. Where's the accomplishment, or fun? Biggest replayability killer for me. If that is stupid in your eyes or not, it is hardly the matter.
Clearly, that's not what you would be doing. It's a given that you'll make your accomplishment through man hours playing the game (as will I), so why does it bother you so much that some other players may want to go that route? Live and let live, right?
...So on a related note....do you think they will let people put real money onto their accounts, for characters that will eventually be deleted once the game is actually released?
I'm not sure what you mean here. I'm pretty sure they said the real money auction house will not be in the beta, thus there's no incentive to spend money on it before the game's released.
As the first person to actually vote for "I'm still buying Diablo 3," let me advocate for the changes made.
1.) Skill points went out because they didn't play well. How many of you can honestly say that skill points were a perfect system? Did they add some special level of depth? Or did you just max out the two skills you wanted to spam, and then toss the rest in synergies and requirements that you didn't give a shit about?
What's the point of degrees if everyone goes all or nothing?
Further, why would you experiment if that meant wasting potentially valuable points on something you didn't want to max? You would have to create throwaway characters just to try things out.
2.) On the subject of the cash AH: maybe if you didn't buy so many items from trading sites then this wouldn't have happened. It's the same reason why brick-and-mortar movie rentals went out of business. If you do things one way over and over, eventually that will become the norm.
I'm not a huge fan of the cash AH, but y'all wanted to buy your items SO BADLY.
But now Blizz hosts it, and you're mad!?
At least this way those of us who want to earn items the old-fashioned way can make money off the people who don't. If I can make my 50$ back I'm playing for free!
3.) IT'S 2011 GUYS. Being online isn't a big deal.
It's the same old thing. If everyone played nice and stopped pirating games, maybe this wouldn't happen.
Instead, Blizz opts for the most sane, rational response--an anti-piracy measure that works well and doesn't obstruct legit players very much (in fact, in a lot of ways the constant battlenet connection is a bonus).
Would you prefer they only let you install three times, and then you have to buy it again?

People just don't look at the big picture and instead immediately jump to conclusions like children. I feel like I'm playing Runescape...

Don't know about you but myself am going to use ingame currency if I'm going to use the AH.

Thank you. Everyone here is acting like an immature child about it. It'll be fine. Either buy the game or don't. Doesn't matter.
