I don't get why alot of you are qq'ing about 10 per region and concerned with replaying the game from the beginning several times over with the same class. By the time you finish normal you should be pretty familiar with all the skills and rune effects and so respecing into a new spec shouldn't be like a whole new thing to learn, also Diablo doesn't have complex rotations to master. Additionally, from playing Diablo 2 a ton back in the day I feel like alot of you have lost sight of the fact that Diablo's mostly about the endgame, and getting geared which will be pretty difficult to accomplish if you're making a bunch of new chars and leveling them all the time.
once i feel the need to delete a character just to re-make a new one (like i did in WoW after 3 years) its time to quit, permanantly. which i did, right as soon as i realized i was doing this^

i dunno, even with respec it seems weird. like if you're paying someone for a car but they're telling you that every month you'll have to rent the tyres from them. (maybe not the best analogy). anyways, there'll be a way around it, probably called character removal or sacrificing. it could work you know, like everytime you create a character and press that little button beneath "Insert" on the keyboard.
on a side note, is D3 one game dvd one account? (my mind is really feeling blank at the moment....hmmm that means i would have forgotten all of the stupid people I met today :D)
@WishedHeHadBeta: I won't be repeating myself so if you really can't understand why somebody would need to make a new character of the same class, read my post on page 2. However I find the whole issue quite simple to understand so I assume you must have some kind of personal brain malfunction in which case I don't give a fuck what you do or don't understand.
As for Manasource123, I can tell you, being a long time D2 player that for me, playing the game was so much more than just endgame, actually I had much more fun trying out new builds and seeing how they fare on the various difficulties. For me the journey to the endgame was the most important. Therefore if I have to delete a character I spent hours upon hours training and brought all the way to the end of the game every time I want to start out a brand new build, it becomes a problem.

A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head!
It's already been pretty much mentioned but quite a few people will want multiple builds per class, and simply using the respec system won't suffice. Either you'll want to play through the game with your new build, or you won't want to keep a full set of alternate runes and gear in the inventory of one of your characters that you'll need to swap whenever you feel like changing your build up. PvP verse PvE build anyone?
This swapping of items and runes each time isn't just a nuisance in my eyes, but it will also take up a good chunk of your inventory.

they want to add a rune inventory system, (with the old system that is)
10 is plenty. If someone truly needs to lvl a character over and over and over to feel fulfilled in life then just designate a character slot for leveling characters that will get deleted or sold.
It's not like you would ever get 100s of character slots, so there's going to be a limit regardless. You'd have to delete characters anyways. You can just as easily do that with 10 as you could 15 or 20.
Please don't try to argue that you need 20 or 30 or whatever of the same lvl 60 class. You would never play most of them. They would just sit there.

i do understand why people remake characters. because they have no life and feel the need to repeat exact content over and over and over to avoid the real world. lolol

i think it is too early to think about character slots, and i am sure if blizzard found that people used all there slots and still need more, they will increase the cap.

Ok well that does answer one half of a point. The gear itself will take up valuable space regardless, and there is no answer to this other than the expected "who will have more than 1 of each class for sc/hc?".

I see what you're saying, but don't you think the chosen number of 10 is just a little extreme? It's not equivalent to 20 because of how many characters exist as well as the sc/hc modes. If there were 2-3 characters, then yes 10 would be enough, but with 5 characters and 2 play modes, that's already 10 right there. There is no room on top of that.
If you managed to max out (or are even working on) all the characters in each sc and hc mode, then a mate of yours joins the game and you want to play with him - you're telling me that the only way to do this is to delete one of your characters? If the limit was 15 or 20 then at least you have room to move around.

Congratulations, you've just managed to strengthen lMarcusl's point that you don't know what you're talking about.

I doubt it. I'm sure they've already read the threads that give valid reasons why 10 is just too small a limit, and they haven't raised the cap because of that.
Finally, 10 per region while useful for those that will be jumping between regions, what about those that will be sticking to one region but do want to have multiple builds per character, or at least the flexibility to create more than 10 for the reasons I've already stated?
And I can't really see anyone playing D3 seriously in a distant region that would give them horrible latency. 10 per region is just a cop-out in my opinion.
I would like to see every sinlge random even in the game and I don't think 1 character playthrough will get to see it all, hell even 5 playthroughs might not see it all since it's random which is why I would delete a character and remake it if the lmiit is only 10. If it was like 20 I can guarantee all those slots would be filled just as I can guarantee 10 slots will be filled for me and still may not be enough.

You will run the whole content 4 times before you reach the end of the game... I think thats plenty to see the random events. And if you make an 2nd Character you again have to run the whole content 4 times before you get to the endgame. The "I want to see every random event" argument seems a little week if you ask me it would only apply if you want to see all the random events with the same class... but then again you can create 6 Barbs and still have 4 Slots for the other classes. Also the argument about leveling exp... there is no real leveling exp after lvl30... and if you think about it after you are 30 you have access to all skills... so you can respecc before you reach the maxlvl...
And even if its not about those facts... your Chars need space on Blizzards Server... and if everyone wants 30 Slots per Region that would mean that Blizz needs significantly more Servers to store the characters... so it comes down to money. Oh and somebody made a comparison about a Car and renting its tiers... its more like you buy a House end expect that you get an endless garage... because you like to keep your old cars and buy a new one very 3 months. <_<
