I was wondering if it would be better to go dual 1h xbows with about 950 dps and sockets over 2h xbow with socket around 1050 dps. I am just not sure how to go about it considering crit hit damage in both 1h xbows.
So no one is dual 1h xbows or is just every going 2hs at moment?
All of it is viable. As far as your character sheet is concern, DW has the most potential for highest damage due to:
APS, Dex on Weapon, Crit Dmg on Weapon, Sockets on Weapon. If you got a 960 dps 1h xbow with no dex and no socket, it would be COMPLETELY horrible.
With 1h, you can stack a crapload of stats if they are well rolled. In addition, you can also get discipline on these bad boys. The benefit and utility you get from having 10-20 more disc is huge.
Going dual 1h hand crossbows is only benefitial under a very specific set of circumstances:
1) Their DPS and weapon ranges combined meet or exceed the equivalant 2h crossbow you have equipped.
2) You are using Archery to further enhance the use of dual HXBs.
3) Their DPS relative to each other is within a very close proximity or identical and their attack speeds are identical.
Just a note on #3. A slightly lower DPS HXB compared to the other can work as long as it has a good amount of dex to bring it up (≥200) and a crit damage % modifier on it.
Be aware though that this is going to be very, very expensive as those HXBs rarely drop with good stats and DPS ratings, and you need two of them of roughly equivalant performance, meaning that you're not going to have a lot of wiggle room in terms of pricing options for them.
if you get 2 good hand xbows with massive crit dmg and an open socket, then yes, probably, if only for the fact that a 2nd (up to) 200% crit damage is going to outweigh the loss of +dmg on the 2h wep and the loss of crit on the quiver. That, however, will cost you a ridiculous amount of gold/money most likely...
Thanks for the replies i am current looking at 2 950 dps 1u xbows with a socket each when compared to 2h xbow with a socket.... i may wait and see how prices go after ACT 3 and ACT 4 get their drop rates buffed back up. I am also not sure if dual 950's will be enough to offset the loss of my quiver at the moment..
I tried switching my 1060dps xbow WITHOUT a socket to 2x 950dps 1handers with 80% gems and came 3k short.
Considering those 1handers together cost like 10times more than the xbow this isnt very good idea if you dont find sick 1handers with like 1050+dps 150%crit dmg 8max disc each.
And then again the cost on those would be something stupid.
You gotta keep in mind, it's not JUST the socket you want. It's the STATS. It's where 1H truly matter the most the most. Imagine having 300-600 xtra dex, 140-300% more crit dmg. You gotta keep in mind 1h weapons have the smallest damage range so you got to maximize your crit dmg, and dex to overcome 2h weapons. Yeah, that's expensive sadly, but maybe that is the point.

2hander and quiver also have stats. Sure its very possible to get the 1handers to overpower 2h+quiver the cost is gonna be ten times or more.
If you have the money, go for it.
Edit: I'm a little drunk so after reading your post second time I realized i was pretty much paraphrasing you xD.
I just searched ah and the highest dmg 1hander with 100+dex and 70%crit dmg or socket was 970dmg.
Seems you need more than just gold/eur to get the kind of 1handers it requires to overpower something like 1200dmg xbow with a socket.
Quivers can add dex, crit chance, and many attributes that will compliment a DH but it cannot add crit damage. I'm not sure what the max roll on a quiver for dex is, but I imagine 160+socket. How much cheaper would a quiver like that cost to your offhand? Probably just the same, but limited by not having another crit damage.

Not sure about the max roll but mine has 120dex+socket, quivers can also have increased ele arrow or hungering arrow dmg.
Also the increase in crit dmg from another weapon is not enough to compensate for the loss of pure dmg from a 1200dmg xbow (with socket) unless you have out of the charts crit chance (Or both your 1handers have 150+%critdmg). Like I said above the highest dps 1hander with 100+dex and 70%crit dmg in either goldah or rmah was 970dps.
I'm not sure if my text makes much sense but you should get an idea of what i mean from it.
No where am I suggesting anyone use a 1h over a 2h Only that it can be viable, all be it extremely expensive, and definitely without the satisfaction of seeing things explode from yellow text of 200-300,000 crit damage! :\ You are definitely guaranteed with a ton of yellow text (crit) but I really honestly don't know what kind of damage that would be even with 100-150k damage pre-SS. I just don't know.
Well i got two 950 dps 1hs with sokets and they are about 9k more dps than my 2h and quiver, but i got the point you guys were making about the 1200 dps 2her... my point was that i only had 1018dps 2her and upgrading to 950 1hs was the right move for the moment!
The problem is that 1 handers just look so much cooler than the damn 2 handed bows. Jango Fett or Legolas.....I'll go with Fett. Now I just need two perfect 1 x handbow drops with tons of dex, crit, and oh yeah + disclipline. Should be cheap and easy drops to obtain
TBH, all bows are viable. Just that the Archery passive gives 50% crit damage to 2h xbows, 15% increased damage to all hits and 10% crit hit chance to 1h xbows (I don't know if it stacks with 2 1handers, but that would be sick AF). I have a 930 DPS Bow with 97% crit damage, 172 Dex and 146 Vitality that does more damage than a 2hander with 90 crit damage no dex and 1100 dps... But If I can I might go with 2x 1handers for the 1.6 APS... But first I need money
Gain a bonus based on the weapon type of your main hand weapon:
Bow: 15% incread damage
Crossbows: 50% Critical Hit Damage
Hand Crossbows: 10% Critical Hit Chance

I'm dual wielding hand crossbows at 960 dps each 1.6 speed. I have 50.5 crit 304 crit dmg and 2.4 atk speed. I'm also at 61 k life with quite a bit of armor but with small resists due to the cost of adding resists to items these days. My char sheet says my dps is 76,100. I have watched all the streams from every demon hunter who did or still does stream. And I can tell your this, I clear every elite in act 3 faster than every single one of them I've watched. My bows arent even that great just have sockets with 100% crit dmg in them. Once your start criting at 50% rate for 304% dmg the dmg output ramps up insanely fast with just the slightest gear upgrade. When I upgrade a piece of gear if the dmg stat goes from 70k to 76k in game things die about 20% faster.
Disclaimer, I'm not saying I can kill all of the elite packs as fast as some of the glass cannon builds, but some of them I surely can. But one thing worth mentioning is the fact that I rarely die. Even elite phase beasts don't 1 shot me anymore, and I haven't skipped a pack of them in weeks. But overall i've yet to see another demon hunter who can clear all of act 3 in remotely the same amount of time as I do. Surely they are out there but theres not one of them as glass cannon that can do it consistently.
Edit: My dex is 1671, and if anyone wanted to know spec or want a screenshot or something I guess I could do that too, I'll be back on later tonight.

I'm interested in a SS of gear and spec, if possible! I've been considering going 2x 1hers for a while now....this might just tilt the scale!
Heres my first attempt at cropping the pics of my gear and spec into one screen shot. This could be pretty bad, but here goes nothing.
Well looks like I managed to get everything in there but the dps. It's 76,100. Altthough that number means very little if next to nothing. Not sure why people even put their "dps" number in there anyways its a fairly trivial number unless you're compairing identical builds.
I used to dual-wield and plan on going back to it eventually. My friend who has similar gear to me is currently dual-wielding and hes sitting somewhere around 97k dps without sharpshooter. It can be hella fun, but I'll tell you what i tell everyone else -- it's extremely expensive. Don't expect to be jumping right into the build and having competitive dps with the 2handers without some substantial investment into your gear.
A 950+ dps 1hander with a socket and built in crit% can run anywhere from 30-50m, maybe even more if it has extra complementary stats. Then, you have to get two radiant star emeralds, which costs north of 20m per emerald. Add it all up and you're looking at around 150m gold investment JUST FOR YOUR WEAPONS. Instead you can spend half as much on a crossbow and a quiver and have comparable DPS. I'm not saying don't do it, just know what kind of investment is required before you walk down this path.
I am surprised you are lacking so much dexterity all things considered. :\ I have this much Dexterity in my "full IAS" gear. Granted, I don't have 61k HP
