So I was progressing very nicely and even found Act 3 rather a breeze until this guy. Have tried many different methods, but just can't seem to down him. I don't suppose anyone would be able to skip me past him or help me kill him?

Edit to mention that I am NA.
Even tried my method? If you can scrape the gear together (prices have supposedly gone up recently), you, too, can facetank him in a corner without any effort.
Am I the only one who just moved out of the gas when he spawned it.. otherwise punch him and found it reletively easy? I don't get what people are having trouble with...
Oh wow, looks like the gaming gods are smiling upon me or something.
What happened, was I went to try him out using that tank build, so I ran to the lower corner to get in position. For some odd reason, he bugged out, and got stuck behind the pillar coming after me. So, I swapped in my Piercing Orb, was able to hit him from the corner and just kept going until he was dead. Free pass - nice.

nice vid, I'm also trying a tank Wizard, but my crit chance is still very low, and my armor isn't regenerating fast enough. Also, using Helm of Command with a 29% block shield don't seen to help me not die fast also, dunno what's wrong, can you help me a bit with that?

I had that happen once, but I didn't take advantage of that moment.

You're going to want 35-40% crit unbuffed. I have every piece of gear that can have crit on it to reach that. (Helm, Neck, Gloves, Wrists, Both Rings, and Shield.) This allows you your Critical Mass to proc just often enough to survive with Diamond Skin.
The next thing is life on hit. I'd estimate 800-850 is the minimum. I've found wands with 800+ alone (you'll also need ap on crit with it), but the dps is horrible. And since should be able to stand there indefinitely, dps isn't your highest priority. I found a bunch of necklaces with 6%+ crit and 200-300 loh for a decent price.
Then you'll want 15 or more ap on crit. The only two pieces that can have it (while wearing a shield) are your helm and wand, so try to find a [+crit and +ap on crit] helm and a [+loh and +ap on crit] wand.
After those comes the defensive stats. Your shield is most important. There's quite a few with all res, pois or phys res, and 7%+ crit along with 18%+ block, 2k-2.8k or higher damage block. Gearing wise, along with what can have crit, you'll want pieces with all res and pois or phys res. Int and Vit are extras, but reducing damage is a higher priority.
Damage stats, such as Int and Crit dmg are nice extras, but if they're too expensive, just go with a cheaper alternative. The more damage you do have though, the more you health you generate through Enchant Weapon: Blood Magic.
And your Helm of Command may seem nice, but I don't think it can have both crit and +ap on crit, so you'll need to get something else for this build to work.
question anybody know how much loh/resist you need to be able to survive standing in an arcane beam (ball part of the beam) for the entire duration ^.^
mhmmm with a barb i get to 1500~ ar with shield.... and 1.3k loh and melt so fast if i try and stay in the ball of the beam or many arcane beams /sadface
I had a ton of trouble with him but finally got him by myself without resorting to hiring help or tanking him or anything like that.
~24k dps, ~380 resist all, ~33k HP. Cookie cutter Blizzard/Venom Hydra build with Diamond Skin instead of Magic Weapon. Spent almost 800k in repairs and health potions, though! Used the Enchantress so that when she was alive she would charm one of the two adds he spawns, and between that and Telefracture I didn't have to worry about them too much.
did it with my barb easily, no loh, no life leech and no overpower, dont see the fuss really
Then why even bother posting here if?
because i think half the people fail on him because they saw posts how he's hard as hell post patch, get nervous and dont think straight
the fight is simple, treat the room as a big puzzle and every gas could being a piece of a puzzle, now all you have to do is put the pieces in the right place
In fairness, there is a dps benchmark incorporated into that puzzle. Unless you're suggesting it's possible to keep him from gassing the entire room by stacking some clouds while not getting hit. In which case, I applaud your ingenuity.

Ghombusters!

Barbs with overpower have it easy mode on that guy.

Nope.
