posted a message on New patch, major let down.
Not sure about anybody else, but I feel completely let down by the new patch.

    Dueling:
They added dueling, cool. Only issue I have with this is you can't just turn it on in a public game. They could have easily just made a hostile flag for your character, so when your waiting for your friends, or at the end of the run you just turn it on and fight each other. If you don't turn your flag on, you dont die, so not sure why we need a whole new zone to keep characters safe. New zone does look pretty fun though......

    Craft Recipes:
Again they added a very short-sighted answer to adding new content. Farming recipes is a reason to farm bosses, great! But once you get that recipe, that content dies. And you will never return, just like the A4 recipe, it was easy to get, you got it, and never returned to A4. This will give a month or 2 of farming bosses, then everyone will be back in A3.

Crafting mats: More incentive to farm A3 at max efficiency.

New Gems: More incentive to farm A3, 20 million gold plus the gold you spent on your 3 RS gems.

New gear effects: The high price and time investment means this only increases the need for only 1 high-powered character to run A3 with to further improve that character. It gives no incentive at all to have more then 1 character. Especially since they gave no reason to make gear with vitality (it's still all about super-farming with high-dps mains). So this amounts to running A3 endlessly and along the way having a chance for a new item. If its anything like Hellfires, they will just end up sitting in your bank unused. Especially for high-end characters with good items in those slots already.

Things that the developers made no attempt to change:
99% of rare drops are vendor trash (actually made this worse w/ the crafted recipes in the few slots rares still had potential)
Way too many rares overall, meaning only legendaries and recipes are worth picking up for high-tier players
AH is still the best way to gear alts and even your main until you get lucky with a recipe.
No incentive whatsoever for more than 1 charcter.
No reason to farm anything but A3. (Other than to get your recipes, once you get it, no reason to do it again)
Still favors MP0-2 farming meaning less diversity in gear choices, we will continue to just increase DPS stats.
    No end-game content, End-game = A3.
No items are leaving the economy.

At the end of the day, the only change they made (outside of duels) is along your perpetual A3 runs, you will get some mats you can use to forge a new item. Most of these will end up in your bank rotting.

So far, I see no reason for me to come back at this time.

posted a message on Patch 1.0.7 Preview
Are my the only one that doesnt think these changes are what the game needs?

    Added dueling.....OK, finally.

Gave a reason to craft, but further promotes 1 main character farming. No incentive for more than 1 charcter, and once you find the recipes the reason to farm bosses ends, and its back to farming act 3. Plus once you farm more ingredients for another crafted item, you will want to craft it for your main until you get perfect stats, again no incentive to play alts, and more resons to farm A3.

The new gem will require 20 million gold and 3 of your RS gems, plus a craft mat that shares use with craft gear. So again this completely discourages any more than 1 ultra-farm character, and adds more reasons to farm A3.

I don't think these changes are good at all, and other than giving a reason to farm bosses for recipes, only perpetuates the problem.
Everyone will still be farming A3 at max efficiency and dumping everything they have into 1 character with no other point than to increase that 1 charcters DPS.

Things this patch did nothing to change:
99% of rare drops are vendor trash (actually made this worse w/ the crafted recipes in the few slots rares still had potential)
way too many rares meaning only legendaries and recipes are worth picking up for high-tier players

Major issues with the game left completely ignored again, and the developers still don't seem to get what makes a good ARPG, which is really disheartening to see.

At the end of the day, the only change they made (outside of duels) is along your perpetual A3 runs, you will get some mats you can use to forge a new item. If it's anything like the Hellfire ring, most of these will end up in your bank rotting.

So far, I see no reason for me to come back at this time.

just scratch the game and start over or add another skill system more like the original d2 than then further modified the spells

I have no issues with the skill system, and definately dont think D2s was better.

The best way to describe it is, in order for you to know what spells you like you need to be able to try them. So any systemt that forces you to choose a spell, be locked into it, before ever even using it is not fun to me.....at all. Even if you can reset them, it's an annoyance to try something, see it fails, then jump through hoops to try something else. D2 was a great system for it's time. Games have evolved since then, and that type of system is obsolete now.

I like to experiment too, but once i have picked a skill that i like i want to be able to feel like i can invest in it and improve it to make it better. In diablo 3 i cant.

The Diablo 3 skill system is not really that innovative its allot like guildwars 1.

Id like to see a skill system which is somwhere between what d3 offers and what D2 had. Finding skills as loot would be great too.

I hear you, and understand. However, I disagree. Only because, for instance, right now on my Wizard I run 3 very different builds.....an all-out Uber CM wizard build, an all-out farm Archon build, and a CM build using living lightning for farming MP5-8. If I had to invest in certain runes, and those skills were much better than others, I would be gimping myself when using my other builds.

Also, within each of these 3 builds I have several variations, as a simple example, my Archon build for MP1 is different than my Archon build for MP3/4. Now, of course if I had certain CM builds specialized, the other skills would still be usable, but they would be weaker. I just don't like that design anymore, many years ago it was fun to me, but it is just an outdated design. You can use the argument that a lot of games still do this, but honestly I think it's time they let go of the past also, and allow the type of freedom WOW and D3 now offer.

For me, it's like this......I don't have a lot of time to play the game. I am OK with not having the best gear, or seeing Ubers on MP10. I understand that because I dont invest the same time and money into it, so I may not have a 400k dps character ever. But, to not let me use all the skills and runes at their full capacity because I dont invest 1000+ hrs into the game to me is an archaic and unnecessary punishment.

I'm not saying I should get everything for nothing, but I have about 600 hours played on my Wizard, and 60+ on each of the other 4 60s. I put in my time to level each one, my wiz has about 180k unbuffed, my alts all have about 60-80k. I think thats fair. locking me out of certain spells after all theat time is not fair, IMO.

The only way I would not mind specializing runes is if D3 completely changed their design to where leveling and gearing a 60 to 200k+ dps didnt take 700+hours, and they encouraged having multiple characters of the same class.

Right now, the design strongly discourage having more than 1 main, and more than 1 of each class, so it's only reasonable each of those classes have access to all of their classes skills.

I like experimenting, I like switching out skills and trying new things, I like the whole spell system. Obviously they need to make some runes better, or nerf others. But that would be true if they had a D2 system as well.

Besides, this is a topic to dsicuss solutions, not just say "it sucks, throw it away" then not offer suggestions.
Unless you consider "make it like D2" a suggestion......but I don't because we've heard that 1000 times, yet very few people actually explain why it was better, or give any real suggestions to adjust the D3 system to be more in line with D2s and why it would be better.

posted a message on Im Sad About That...
Agree with everyone else. If the game is upsetting you so much you feel the need to come to forums to moan about it, it is clearly time to break from games, or try something new for a bit.

I am currently playing GW2, and loveing it. I have no desire to get into hardcore MMO raids and all that, so I play it just to level up my characters, scratch my RPG itch, and check out their combat system. It is a great time. And heres a tip, you can leave D3 installed when you play other games.....your characters dont even get deleted!! that way if they do "fix" the game, you can just......log back in.

Also, title your post better, sick of these stupid "look at my witty, cute title" that doesnt explain what your post is about in the slightest. Its not witty or funny or cute, its just annoying.

posted a message on Diablo 3 and all resists mechanic.
    Quote from Indimix

    It's plain dull.

I mean, wouldn't it be great if you could identify which monsters have less resists to what, and use specific weapons/effects/spells to counter them?.

And in the same way, let say a monster has a heavy fire spell, wouldn't it be great if you could, through a spell/weapon/etc protect yourself against fire?.

But.. no, we got "all resists', and the three stats become 1, "resists".

I think changing this mechanic a bit, would add depth to the game, without making it too complex for the type of game it is.

No, because the game is played at a fast pace, obliverating mobs as you go. I have zero desire to stop, find a safe spot and switch out gear for 1 pack. That is not fun at all.

And no, I don't want bosses to have that either, because I have no desire to farm, or maintain a set just for 1 type of mob, or one boss. The last time I had a Resist set was WOWs BT.......coincidentally the same time I quit that game.

There are better ways to provide content that doesnt involve spending countless hours farming, or wasting space in our bags for a resist set for every type of resist.

IMHO, I think they should just get rid of all types of resist except AR, Physical, and merge all other to just "Magic Resist".
It would help reduce the number of trash items we get as well.

Is your topic title meant to be obnoxious and cool, in that way a 3 year old wears his older brothers sunglasses?
Do me a favor, and next time select a title that gives some sort of idea what your post is about.

Then I will actually read what you said, and respond accordingly.

posted a message on PvP and 1.0.7 investing - The State of Diablo 3 ep 11
I didnt watch it, didnt have time. But I disagree PVP will affect the AH. People will still ned gear for PVE, so you sould see little change. The only thing that will change is some items with defensive stats will be more expensive. Also, you shouldnt invest in any PVP items yet because no details exist about how duels or PVP will be handled.

Same with class balance, it's hard to comment on class balance when we are just few days away from patch notes. When the patch notes are released and we see what they are changing, then it will be worth having that argument, and complain about balance.

    @ The Facebook contest.....

Just wanted to point out that you guys never said anywhere (at least that I know, and I am a pretty stable Diablofans member) how people would be notified they won. I check the news post daiy waiting for details on winner announcements, and never seen anything posted. For that matter, it was never said if the Forum User winners were picked and notified (and how).

May want to announce how winners will be notified (I assumed it would be on D-fans, so never checked my Facebook mail) and leave up a few more days before giving away their prize.

If it was posted, I missed it, and I check news and Forums about 4-5 times a day, so I'm sure others missed it too.

How could we contact someone on Dfans with only their FB info :P
anyway the point of this IS that post to let people know

the forum contest people have already been contacted, and all have replied.

Normally after you guys run a contest, you have a news post that just says "Congrats to the winners of the XX contest!" and if its a forum contest, name them in the news or something along those lines. Thats all I meant. That didnt happen this time, and I assumed you guys just hadnt picked the winners yet :P

Either way, I didnt win :(
And now I know I can stop checking for the announcement LOL.

posted a message on If you get free 800 stat points, where would you put it?
    Quote from Sovngarde

Everyone who says they would take 800 of primary "dps" stat and no vit are deluding themselves. You realize you would have the vitality of a level one character, right? You would have, oh.... less than a thousand hp before gear. You would die if anything even looked at you wrong: my wizard (granted, I'm not very well geared) has 603 vitality from gear, which is only another... what? 15k hp? Inferno would become rather untenable.

But then, the bulk of DPS in D2 came not from the primary stat, but from skills and skillpoints (and a reasonably good weapon).

He said they were free, meaning they are in addition to what we already have.

It will fall until a PTR hits, or the next patch notes are posted.

A lot of people are just selling items and gold right now, and not playing. Waiting for the next patch, or any news on whats coming next and why. The same thing happens every patch cycle. There are a ton of people who only play D3 for a month or so after a patch, then lose interest and stop.

Partly because they are impatient, but mostly because Blizzard can't seem to figure out a system that holds our attention for longer.

posted a message on If you get free 800 stat points, where would you put it?
I have no desire to alot my own stats. It's still about getting the right gear in the end. Alls allotting points would do is make the gear you get less meaningful, because if you looted some amazing item but dropped 200 vit in the process, you could just re-alocate your vit, problem solved. It would eliminate having to min/max your gear, because you can offset gear deficiencies with your stats.

And if you made it so you could never change stats once chosen.......yah, no. If they did that everyone who played from the beginning would have most of there stats in Vit, and be cursing Blizz right now (more than they already are :P)

In D2 it was highly encouraged to make many different characters, and even if you had just one, there were resets. D3 has no resets, anything that they make permanent is a bad idea. Unless they go with the D2 system and encourage lots and lots of alts.....but I think it's clear thats not going to happen. For whatever reason, they want you to have 1 main.....and at most 1 of each class. Anything more than that is highly discouraged. I dont agree with it, but its true.

hardcore is to be played solo or with friends, how many more pointless deaths is it gonna take for people to realize it?

So because the game mechanics cause unnecessary deaths, we should not use that feature? Wouldn't it be better if Blizzard fixed the actual issue and allowed us to play the game the way it was designed, the way we wanted to?

I mean, if they had a bad mechanic that made it so you could only play 1 class.....or only play solo......or only play MP2 or whatever......your solution is just don't play any other features? I am fairly certain, if you put your attitude and pride aside, you will agree the better solution is for Blizzard to fix the actual mechanics.
