posted a message on Approaching 1000 hours played, my thoughts...
I understand where people are coming from, on both sides of the fence. The game is incredibly polished as far as mechanics, the campaign (although it is short, it is clean) the spell system, general game mechanics while fighting, the areas and the mobs, the tuning of those mobs and their affixes, it's a great game. You can easily put in 2-300 hours and still absolutely love the game, if you stay away from the RMAH (some may disagree their, but I think buying anything from the RMAH would seriosuly devalue the experience)

At the same time.....this is Diablo, this is Blizzard, there is an expectation. Blizzard makes a lot of money off us.....not only through box sales....but RMAH, and A LOT of Diablo players are Blizzard players.....they also play SC and WOW. (many played and bought warcraft, all 3 diablo's, both SCs, and subscribed to WOW for 4-5 years+) They will buy future games from Blizzard as well. I feel like I have paid into Blizzard as a company quite well, I have gotten many family and friends to join into Blizzard too, my mom has 2 WOW accounts, several of my EQ friends are now all about D3 and WOW, this is more then just a game I bought for 60 bucks and hoped to get 100 hours out of.

I think many players on these forums are similar to me, an easy way to see this is looking on the official Diablo forums, and see how many of those players have WOW accounts. And those are just the ones who havent switched their tags to Diablo. I can understand why someone who only plays D3 can think we are unfair and too judging, but that is because you feel you got your money worth. You spent your $60 bucks, got a few 100 hours of play and are happy.

I feel like I bought into Blizzard though, as many of us here do. I payed for 2 WOW accounts for over 5 years, have brought many people to their games, will continue to buy from them, and will play Titan (whatever it actually is) when it releases.

I don't feel like Blizzard has put in the same time and effort into D3 as they have in the past on every other game I have paid for. I would gladly pay a subscription for D3, I will continue to pay Blizzard for the great games they make, but D3 is falling short for me.

And D3 continues to let me down, the fixes they make are not fixing the core issue of the loot system being broke, and not having a item sink. PVP is now 8 months late (yes, 8 months, it WAS originally supposed to ship with D3, just because they delayed it before luanch doesnt make it less late now) and then after 8 months of waiting, and being teased about this big PVP patch, we get "nevermind, its not ready, here, have duels....another feature we should have had at launch".

It may seem like we are too critical, and we expect too much from Blizzard, but when you peel back the onion, there is more to our arguments than just wanting immediate satisfaction or being from the "entitled generation" or whatever smart title you want to label me. I have good reason to feel let down by Blizzard, and D3. I have good reason to want something different, and I feel we ARE entitled to more from Blizzard, as a long time dedicated supporter of all their games.

Hopefully that helps you understand where we are coming from.

I think the argument spun out of control and veered off track, the discussion should be about wether the GAH tax is good for the game or not. It somehow twisted into real-life verse games.....

So, back on topic, regardless of your feelings on the 15% tax......Can we at least agree their are better ways to add gold sinks to the game? If the only reason for the 15% tax is to have a gold sink, I would think a company as good as Blizzard can come up with something better than a tax on the AH. (Namely a better salvaging and crafting system)

That being said, is their maybe another reason for the tax? What are the effects it has on the market? at low, mid, and high level gear?

As mentioned, it discourages flipping. Again, there might be a better way to achieve this. Shorter auctions would help a lot. I know a lot of the reason I throw things on the AH for dirt cheap buyouts is because anything under a million for me isnt worth having on auction for 2-days, so I sell it dirt cheap. I know I'm not helping the market by doing so.....but it's better than having 50 sub-1million gold items sitting in my bags. On that same note, the 10 auction limit doesnt help either. I understand it prevents people from having 100s of auctions (mainly gold sellers) but it also hurts the common player. Either way, true item sinks, and a better auction system would help a lot.

    On Bind on Equip:
The main reason I don't want to see bind-on-equip is simple, I like being able to hand off items after I use them. It makes it easier to upgrade knowing your old stuff isnt completely usless now. I hand them down to friends, or alts, and want that to continue. I do think certain things should be bound.....such as hard to get items like hellfires, because it would completely devalue the content if those could go to auction. I can see some other things being bound for this reason as well, to keep their value high, or if they are character bound it gives me a reason to play alts, which I would certainly welcome. I don't even run Ubers with my alts because the hellfire is account bound.

    On the 15% tax:
I actually agree with you to an extent, but only on the high dollar items. I wouldnt mind just seeing a cap on it, like you said flipping isnt a bad thing, but I would still like to discourage people from flipping mid and low lever gear, that could still be annoying for 2 reasons: it encourages playing the AH to gear, and gives a benefit to players with tons of time to scan the AH.

    On Movement Speed:
Completely agree with you. I am not sure why people would be terribly upset about this change, it would just speed up gameplay across the board....unless you didnt speed up mob speed to match. But I took this as making the whole game faster. The game does feel a bit slow with no MS. I dont think its about getting anything for free, it is just about making the game feel faster, more exciting, more updated.....as you said most ARPGs move much faster than D3.

Made sense to me. Video is really only 3 minutes because the last minute is him talking.

But yah, what agadabagada said, run thre zones, log out and back in and repeat.
I guess with that east of a run, it would be easy to disprove him. And he did post his stats.
So if people still want to hate, alls they have to do is run Alkaizer 10-20 times, than run this 10-20 times and compare.

He says his run only take 5-7 minutes, so doing it 10 times would only take an hour to test.......

From memory, we had 6 honorable mentions:

    - increase base movement speed to what 24% is now.
    - ability to level up abilities/skills (yeah right)
    - give a reason to group with players (more loot, more mf, more mob density, etc.)
    - add more randomness (but take out stupid randomness)
    - increase mob density in act 1/2. Give us reason to go to act 4
    - fix the broken wizard class

    The Top 10 list

    10) give us a pvp system where we define the rules, rewards. Stop wasting 7+ months trying to design the perfect pvp system. let us just pvp and we'll build a system that comes out of it organically. Make use of ptr for pvp.
    9) improve drop rates OR stop creating garbage items for garbage sake (i.e. tighten up properties, etc.)
    8) cut the length of the journey to paragon 100 by 1/2 or 2/3. Or change how magic find works. And some other things we said.
    7) add genuine gold sinks to the game (enchantments, socketing, buffs, etc.). Remove 15% tax bull****.
    6) add more game modes - ladders, classic mode, etc.
    5) improve itemization - have 15-30 legendaries per item slot that are designed around builds, uses for white items, magic items, more socketables like 20 different gems and random jewels, create healthy ecosystem of gems and depower emeralds.
    4) add a crafting system that allows players to create items that don't drop and also incentivizes the destruction of items
    3) add bind on equip
    2) gives us something to do other than farming
    1) blizzard needs to listen, interact and be honest with the community

    Thanks for the list.

    10) PVP in some form would be better than nothing, I agree. I think even the duel system is gonna be too restricted, probably have to meet in town, and request/accept the duel....instead of just being able to duel where you want, when you want.

    9) This is by far the #1 issue for me, the game just doesnt feel rewarding at all.

    8) I agree, or give reasonsto play alts. The fun of alts for me is taken away because I feel like anything I do on any character besides my main is a waste of time because it doesnt add to his paragon.....i.e. my ability to farm.

    7) 2nd biggest issue for me, the AH is so inflated, you can spend hours and hours in game, and alls you end up with is vendor trash and gold which you can get really good items with.....on the AH. I just want to be able to level and gear a character as quickly as my others without the AH. The AH should be there to fill in 2-3 items that just dont drop for you, or to get 1-2 items that rounds out your build perfectly.

    6) I love Diabloprogress. Seeing where I stand within the community is great fun and a great challenge. I don't understand why Blizzard is so against it now. At least add achievements for paragon and MP level bosses/ubers so websites can track and post it. I think they really underestimate how these sites bring and keep customers to their games. I dont know too many WOW players who don't know about the progression websites out there for guild progression, and didnt track their guilds progress.

    5) Agree mostly, it is harder to balance all this, and makes the game unreasonably complicated....which is good for some, bad for others. More diversity would be nice without overdoing it.

    4) Agree.

    3) No thanks. I can see why this is a good idea, but I would rather have a true item sink that accomplishes the same goal. I agree things like hellfires should be binded, and maybe specific recipes, or "uber-type" quest rewards, as a way to incentivise players to do that content, but other than that I dont like binding.

    2) Of course agree.

    1) I do feel they don't put in as much effort to be transparent as other games, of course the recent PVP blog has me a bit salty right now though....so my opinion may be a bit biased against Blizz ATM.

Or have a mod take it over and start updating it?

Also agree as this is a Forum, a written explanation of the video would be nice.
I would like to give feedback, and everything, but I work a 14 hour day, and just don't have time after work to listen to videos.

I usually check these forums on lunch etc, I am sure I am not alone.
And as mentioned before, there already is a thread about "10 things to fix in D3".

posted a message on Blizzard is a joke...
There are some really deep complicated issues with a wide array of expectations in this thread. But it's hard to argue 1 very basic things that cause the problem for me:

Blizzard is balancing new content on people using the AH, it would be nearly impossible to run MP 6 or 7 Ubers efficiently without using the AH, and if you did it, it would take 100s of hours to play.
Any new content added will most likely be the same way, which means to do any new content added to the game, you need to use the AH. This is a bigger issue than just 99% of drops are bad, but when you do finally get an item worth anything, the chances of it working for your build and class is minimal, so you either have to sell it, or save it for an alt. This only increases the NEED for an AH.

Until they find a way for the Loot hunt to feel rewarding, and make the AH an actual option, not a requirement, I will not consider D3 to be a great game.

I think it's time to let go. I don't mean that sarcastically. They had their time, clearly they are not on par with what they used to be. We should stop expecting them to.

This exactly. They were an amazing company for a long time, but nothing last forever. Such a shame...

I've actually picked up 2 new games Ive been holding off on for a while now, GW2 and DOTA 2. And I am really happy I did. They are great games. I check Dfans and log into Diablo once a day for my auctions, and once they add some more content, I will play Diablo.....but for now I'm taking some time to try out other stuff. Will probably make coming back and playing Diablo 3 even better.

So 3 players out of 10 million played for 12 hours, and got roughly the same amount of legendaries.....and therefore MP level doesnt effect loot?

I think we might need a little more proof then this, there is a thread going with literally thousands of elites killed and data collected that says MP level.....and MF matter. Efficiency matters etc.

I think maybe you are just trolling? Nobody is really this silly?
