Does anyone remember, well before Diablo II's release as it was still in production, a cinematic of the Wanderer in a carriage driving through the rain, and he was in some long soliloquy about the Hells and traveling to the far east for his salvation, and the teaser ends on a shot of the Wanderer's lips being sewn shut and then the soul stone lying in the mud in the rain?
I'm not making this up, right?
I feel like it was out when they were still tossing around the idea that the character you'd play in Diablo II was going to be the guy with the soul stone in his/her head.
No that happened, but last I heard that video is considered non-canon and irrelevant to the storyline.

100k DPS archon wiz, about a 5k DPS loss for me but a big survivability jump. I want to wear it, but I've never had more than 5m gold in the bank and this is easily the best drop I've ever gotten. Not much experience with high end items, though. Can't farm beyond MP1 reliably because I'm so glass cannon.

Go do it. More than 99% of people will not be able to pull that off for that long.
Point is he spent 2.5 hours ACTUALLY running around clicking and preventing deaths, not just typing one post on a forum saying how easy it is.
You must also think driving in a NASCAR race is easy since you just have to make a left turn.
At 200 MPH.
For 3.5 hours.

I seem to remember it did for Sharpshooter. Wear gloves with no DPS stats, wait for sharpshooter to stack to 100% crit, then hover over gloves with only critical chance. It should show no DPS gain. I had to remove sharpshooter in order to get accurate comparisons of gear.

4 I disagree, maybe you liked it, but it would be pretty annoying to be in a pub with a fresh 60 and some paragon 100 guy with 1 billion gold worth of gear comes in and just slaughters you. That's only fun for 1 person, and it's NOT PvP. If they implemented a permanent death ladder/king of the hill type tournament that you enter, that's one thing, but I doubt many would play it. A permanent death PvP system would go mostly unused except < level 10.
If 5 is a problem for someone, it's quite easy to eliminate it. Buy random garbage off the AH and dump your gold, then drop everything in your stash on the ground. Now you are starting over.
I actually don't get that feeling of danger on my WD at all. Between Spirit Walk, Spirit Vessel passive, 1500+ life per second regen, pets, and health globes, I don't think I'll ever die. I'm actually disappointed how easy it has been to just faceroll through acts 2 and 3 inferno without even stopping to farm once.

How good his gear was before I don't know, I don't follow those channels, but you seem to have a misunderstanding of how he intends to portray the situation. Subscribers = ad dollars = RMAH purchases.

Problem is I've never found an item worth more than 1 million, and since I didn't play very much the first month because of RL work, I fell behind early. Obviously as more items are found and gear becomes easier to get, prices keep dropping, and yes eventually only the best of the best will sell for anything substantial. There's no gear sinks!
This is why I switched to hardcore, where items keep a good value. Most people are going to die, and when they do items and gems are removed from the economy, keeping the supply down.

Would go great with all the 2 handed monk weapons nobody uses.

There's an argument to be made though that monsters in Act 1 are mechanically easier than the ones in Act 2 or 3. If you're hunting elite packs, that can be a difference. Looking to kill lots of small monsters obviously you're going to find the highest concentration in Act 3.
