Many have speculated on who we will be fighting in Diablo III. It has already been said that a large part of the story revolves around two demons and their impending invasion on Sanctuary. We later found out that these two demons are in fact Belial and Azmodan. We even got news that Belial will be in Act II of the game. However, this left a lot of room of who exactly are the end Act bosses and who we will be fighting throughout the game.
On G4TV's X-Play today, Adam Sessler had an interview with Rob Pardo, Executive Vice-President at Blizzard, who gave some information out about Diablo III. Most of the information he talked about was stuff that we learned about at the press event that Sixen and Force went to. While most of the information is stuff that we already knew, including no release date for beta yet, he did add one little extra bit that gives us a clue on this game.
Official Blizzard Quote:
We do have a full playable Alpha state. So, everyone inside the company can play all the way through and kill Diablo.
That's right. Whether he meant to or not, Rob Pardo told us that Big D himself, Diablo, will be the climax of the game. So, it is more than likely that we will be battling Azmodan and Belial before hand and finishing our journey with yet one more epic battle against the Lord of Terror. Just what shape he comes in and how they explain his return is still up in the air, but Diablo III will not be without Diablo.
On a side note of this information, we also know that Blizzard is planning at least a couple expansions for Diablo III so where will the story go from here if Diablo is once again destroyed?

Well with the Worldstone destroyed they can spin any number of tales for expansions about insidious demons and their plans for Sanctuary or taking the fight into the Great Conflict.
We do have a full running Alpha right now. Everyone in the office can play through to Diablo.
Seeing as he says we can play through to Diablo and not necessarily that we get to fight Diablo, any chance that while we will see Diablo in the game,we do not actually fight him until a possible expansion. It may be a stretch but I am just thinking along the lines of D2 where we see Baal in a bunch of cinematics, and his presence definitely plays a large role in the story line, but we don't fight him until the LOD expansion.
Im not surprised, I even watched the X-play thing and didn't actually noticed he said that b/c I think I already assumed we would be seeing diablo if not fighting him.
I'd wager that one of the expansions will be about Baal's Revenge and since the barbarian is the only character that is actually the same one played in Diablo II that he gets a specialized version of the story.

Great write-up Scyber~ I bet you Jay facepalmed when he heard Rob slip that tidbit .
Assuming he did indeed mean Diablo will be the last fight, I'm honestly glad we get him out of the way in the original release. With Diablo presumably out of the way, there are numerous possibilities for who will show up as bosses in future expansions. I have no doubt the fight with Diablo will be amazing, and I'm so freakin' excited to see how he looks in game :d3d:. The Siege Breaker blew my mind.. and he's not even an Act boss..

And yea I can only imagine how amazing the Diablo battle is going to be when the Siege Breaker crescendo (elephant moving through the shadows) and climax were so amazing.
Does anyone have a link to that cinmatic that was playing the background during the show? Like the movie where daiblo was seen. I never seen that yet, and was wondering if its online yet? Maybe I missed it, if it is. But for real though, I think everyone already knew Diablo was gunna return to the game! Whats a game without Diablo!???? Hopefully he'll actually be the last boss compare to diablo 2 though.

Even though I mentioned that we may not fight Diablo in the original release, I agree completely with you Winged. I hope we fight him in the original release, because it allows them to open up the expansions more(or so I think), and also cannot wait to finally see what they have planned for us against him.
I hope they end it on something of a cliffhanger and bring him back for the final expansion. Diablo should simply be more important than every other villain IMO. I kinda didn't like how Diablo 2 ended.
ok let say there are going to be 3 DIABLO III. This is the way I think they wil go . We fight hem Diablo in a wake form in DIABLO III game I.:olddiablo: In game 2 some one try to revide hem and ****.In the game 3 we fight is real form if DIABLO.
Something I'd like to point out, "full Alpha" doesn't necessarily mean the "FULL GAME", it could simply mean, as most "Full alpha's" mean, that all of the current systems are in and accesssible to players. Further evidenced by the fact that he states "they can play TO diablo", not "to the endgame cinematic". It's entirely possible that Diablo may, in fact, only be an act 2 - 3 boss, and that we have access to all current game systems by act 2 - 3, -or- it could simply mean we meet/see diablo at the end or start of act 2 - 3, and we have access to all game systems at that point. Therefore, it's a bit pre-emptive to say it "ends" with diablo, just yet, or that they have all of the acts completed.
Edit: Also, to reinforce this, again, it says "To Diablo", so if you can play TO diablo, but we know the game isn't complete yet, then what's after diablo, to specifically state that you can only play "To Diablo"?

Maybe Mephisto and Baal will make a comeback also?
And now we can kill the 3 prime demons, again, but this time really really for real. Again.
