How did no one else find the Santa<=>Satan thing hysterical?
I fucking laughed for 15 minutes.

Zynalc: "I believe that most of the people have read some books or seen some films about santa. The typical figure of santa is not invincibley powerful but always very very fraudulent."
Baal rescues his brother from the archangel. Tyrael attempts to contain him with force, but Baal knocks away Tyrael's sword. Tyrael is overpowered by Baal and Diablo. They escape and imprison Tyrael within the Tal-Rasha's tomb, where he remains until the player comes and frees him.
During the end of Act 5, Tyrael destroys the Worldstone in order to prevent Baal from corrupting it any further. He claims that this will prevent the forces of hell from flooding into the mortal world - by destroying the Worldstone, its uncorrupted energies will be released and spread throughout the world of Sanctuary, thus maintaining the boundaries between Sanctuary, the High Heavens, and Hell.
Now, hear me out, why would you destroy something that is protecting the world against the evils that have already been destroyed?
Something seems suspicious.
Tyrael went against Heaven's wishes, and aided humanity, and in the above quote, I mention he's overpowered by Diablo and Baal. I'm starting to think he was corrupted during this time, which, would explain why Heaven would want him out of the fight, and now that he's been corrupted, he's evil, and now the heavens are trembling because it's worried that Tyreal will make a drive to Heaven to destroy them.
Why else would Tyrael be the main focus of the Diablo 3 main site's splash page? He's critical to Hell's drive and effort to take over the world, and the heavens.
Tyrael is a wolf in sheep's clothing, gaining trust with humankind, but the heavens knows his ulterior motives.. that's why they wanted him to stay out of the fight! If he'd of stayed out of the fight, he'd never of been corrupted!
if i'm allowed to speculate...and keep in mind i'm a little hazy on my lore.
Tyrael killed the worldstone didn't the angels make the worldstone for a reason?
If this is true I think Tyrael will be punished/imprisoned by the angels.
If THIS is true then there will probably be an awesome mission in which you infiltrate heaven and rescue Tyrael.
Also if you look at the D3 mainsite it says something about a threeway conflict between angels, burning hells and Sanctuary I'll try to find the quote.
here is it: "The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells – and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself."
taken from main page of d3.com
angel fight anyone?
It would have been immediately after he destroyed the world stone if they did enforce some sort of punishment, not twenty years later... Would make for an interesting story, though.
i dont really think so. Baal had corrupted the Worldstone and turned it from protecting mankind from Hell to a portal to Hell (thats what i got at least). We'll know for sure only when they release more info i guess.
Lol XD, It's obvious what happened to Tyrael, his cousin Tyreal shot his ass up over his baby's mama. Sorry I had to say that lol, I know not all people from the hood are like that, I used to live in the ghetto :P, well very very very close to it.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
I somehow doubt Tyrael is corrupt, though I have no doubt he may go "rogue" and appear as though he is a turncoat. Of course, this all may well be a part of his own personal agenda, a personal war against an apathetic heaven and the volatiles hells.
Now, where exactly do the Necromancers fit in all this? I don't see your point about them. However, I don't think they'll be available as a character class, as they've been supplanted by the Witch Doctor. Though incorruptible, I don't doubt they may have an agenda of their own, one meant to bring about stability for the wrld of Sanctuary -- and all other realms -- that, at first glance, may seem to help Hell. Maybe they want to re-establish the status quo ante and resurrect the Three, as they brought a balance in their view?

One of the Blizzard devs does mention something to the effect of "could Tyrael really have been unchanged by the explosion of the worldstone, while standing so close to it?". In other words did the fact that Tyrael stood within the blast radius of the worldstone explosion change him?
That sounds like a hint to me. I think it's a relatively safe bet that something bad is going on with Tyrael. Is it that he joined forces with the Three? Well, we'll have to wait until more info about the story is released.
well hey in the teaser the girl said that she's seen what evil has been hiding or something like that, tyrael dissapeared for 20 years or no one knows what he's been up to, i dont know, i hope he isnt evil, id be hesitant to kill my favorite NPC of Diablo
Or maybe nothing bad is happening with him and something good is. We have no reason to believe either- yet. Maybe everything he said in LoD is true. Maybe it isn't. Until the next game comes out or enough information is revealed about it to confirm any of the ideas (mainly this very old "corrupted Tyrael" idea that everyone is/has been tossing around for years), it would be bad to assume anything.
Take for instance the tons of people who assumed the splash would be related to Lich King and were incredibly condescending on those with hope. Now they look like idiots. In the same way, do not simply assume that Tyrael is or is not going to be "corrupted".
This was all aptly summed up here:

Is it that he joined forces with the Three?
The Q & A panel was slightly enlightening on this (posted on the home page and in the news section.) It reads:
Q: We destroyed Diablo, how do you justify him coming back again?
A: You don''t know for sure Diablo is going back. Too complicated to answer at this point without going too much into the story.
Now, this leads me to think that they are alluding to a game without Diablo (or pehaps even the Prime Evils.) It could also mean that he is in it, since they said neither, but the way they answered it leads me to believe the former stated. There is still the fact that the game is called Diablo III, which my only answer in this case is that it would mostly be a marketing thing- it helps people to realize that it is a sequel to the former game.
Spiky armor?
He's always seemed that way. It's because he has two small feathered wings immediately behind and just below his hood, which I'm guessing are ornamental to his raiment. The armor is the same from the first game.

Me: "Dude, I think you meant 'Satan.'"

Or, why would you destroy something that the *Lord of Destruction* was just tinkering with?
eh, eh?
Destroying it, made fixing it impossible.
That opens up the possibilities for Hell to run free now.

Something is amiss... Tyrael looks kind of... dark. Spiky armor? Crazy.
