Depends what you see as negatives. I don't PvP, but the PvP we have is the same as we did in D2, so there shouldn't be any arguments there. I do hope for a good version of it in the future.
Trading is obviously non-existent outside your party, but I've never actually traded anything to anyone, except when dropping super high tier gear to new people. Which is lame anyway. Having the Auction House did not add anything to the Trading experience, so things have not changed one bit for me.
Pvp the same as in D2 ? We have nothing like the flexibel system we had in D2. Pvp atm is a total joke. It's really clear from your comment that you never did any in either d2 or d3.
Tha AH added lots to the trading experience, but again, if you never use it, how can you even comment on it?

I've PvPed in both games and the mechanics of it are identical. What now?
Civilization II is one of my all-time favourite games. Absolutely loved that game, spent countless hours on it.
It came with an integrated cheat menu. It didn't devalue the game by one iota.
/JustSayin'
I admittedly haven't played much of it, at all. Were you allowed to cheat online while facing another person?
I really don't know, I only played it solo.
What I was saying was that, in a game that has next to zero competitive elements, claiming that the fact that someone cheats is devaluing your experience comes across as nitpicky.
No. Someone cheating doesn't devalue my experience. Never said that. Someone cheating devalues their experience. If your company's goal for the last 10 years has been to increase their online community (very successfully if I might add), then you'll just need to spend 5 minutes with the people in charge of said games and you'll understand why devaluing the experience and reducing the longevity of the game is extremely erroneous to that player's future support for that company.
If I knew nothing about the game and read the opening post, I would come away with the impression that the listed negatives are rampant, persistent, and unmanageable. Having played the game, I know that this is not the case. There are very few instances in a multi-hour session of gameplay where I notice the ill affect of forced online play. To be honest, the only time I actually notice any of the lag/desync issues is when I'm playing a WW barb. Its really not that big of a deal. The servers are very seldom unavailable to play on. I, for one, am very happy to put up with the slight inconveniences of forced online play in order to maintain the integrity of the game.
Also, I'm not convinced that they are getting rid of trading. They are getting rid of the AH. I still think that rare items will have a place in the game, once legendaries have been balanced; otherwise they are making itemization worse, not better.

Yeah, CoD has the same mechanics too, you just left klick till stuff is dead.
There are many differences apart from what you understood of the "mechanics" that make a very big difference in the game. For example, to name just one, in d2 you can pvp anywhere on the world, not just in a silly tigth area with no mobs. This can for example lead to leveling races with pvp enabled.
Try doing that in D3. Yeah, rigth, it's the same. Bwahaha.
Blizzard could add some kind of lobby, just to show off our characters.
Or they could do it the PoE way: the "town" area with the vendors is public. Once you use a waypoint / go outside of town you are in your own instanced game.
@Rasako
Can we please stop all talking about cheating and if always-online should/shouldn't exist, while peoples position on cheating and whether or not always-online should exist can be an interesting topic it's not the purpose of this thread. I accept that they are forcing me to be online, i'm simply saying ok, i'm online with this million other people so what do I gain? I can't trade, pvp is a joke and grouping up with people is pointless because of the lack of control over who your grouped with, the lack of group gains and the lack of group content.
Being able to play the game with other players is what you gain from being online, but you already know that. You're just indulging in too much hyperbole, like many D3 fans. It's fine if you don't like how the grouping system is implemented, but just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not a feature and there's no benefit to always-online.
It is! I've been wanting to make a Highlights post about the new communication additions, but they've been offline/not working properly since about a few days into the Beta. Probably being iterated upon. Can't wait to experiment a bit more.

I LOVE the little models at the bottom (there's only 1 because there's no one else in the clan), it's just like D2's models while in a chat channel =)
You might see quite a lot of familiar names.
Ha. Bagstone.
Okay, that's just a great idea. Straight up.
