He said he flipped it....the whole point was to show the profit margin.
Yet the vid took a "Sopranos" type cut-off at the end and we, whom wasted our time watching, have no idea what it sold for.
Like if I made a vid called "Watch this cool trick", spent 3 minutes explaining how I was going to do a cool trick and then didn't show myself actually doing the trick.
As Kryses said above, sooooo....how much did it sell for for christ sakes? Like isn't that the friggin point of the thread?
You know.... in my opinion the title isn't misleading at all. This is what the game has become. If you want to have a profit, and a meaningful one, you have to snipe and flip items. At the moment the market is oversaturated with everything and you need that perfect combination of stats if you want to get some money from the AH.
With the arrival of BoA crafts, it's become even harder selling piece of gear for those slots. I even failed a Lacuni snipe because i totally forgot about Bracer Crafts....
Soooooo....... yeah, i think the best way to have a good profit in this game at the moment is playing broker with the AH..... not a good situation for the health and fun of the game.
Is it weird that I do the opposite. I buy items and sell them for cheap because I know I'm A) guaranteed money if it's a decent item, and IT helps out everyone. I don't understand why some of these items are billions of gold... like who has time to sit there and farm all of that?

Let me explain myself.
I didn't mean that flipping is a bad way to make gold, all I meant is that the tread title leads people to believe the video is going to teach them something and it doesn't.
Proper flipping takes into account quite a few factors.
Knowing what are the desireable stats and items. Knowing when people buy and sell said items. Knowing how to properly value your item (other than searching its exact stats and not checking for stuff with 5 less intelligence which cost 5mil less).
The video doesn't show any of that. Just a lucky buyout situation.
For instance: selling Zunimassa's Visions with Crit during the week [EU], when they're at 300-400k is bad. Now buying those (and specially bidding at ~100k for each), and reselling at the weekends when they get boosted back to 1mil~ (or even 10mil+ for higher 6% ones) is info someone can actually use.
I'm all for sharing the experience, and it's awesome that you got that item, but it's not the best way to learn "flipping 101".
^ my main point when I said the thread is misleading.
Well, if your point is: "Title is misleading because it doesn't teach how to make gold by flipping" then we agree.
But i'm still saddened by this "Wall Street Simulator" that Diablo 3 has become. I consider myself a farmer; i have a good endurance by grinding and i managed to get a good back with some nice drops this year, but it pales in comparison of AH players.
Basically, making gold with item hunt isn't efficient, and this equal to playing the game isn't efficient.

I cannot put it any more bluntly than to say; This game is what you make it.
Stay out of the AH like I do and play the game. Will some of your friends be making bank that towers over yours? Sure. But why care?
I've got friends that spend a LOT of time in the AH. They're constantly turning down invites to do runs with me and the crew ... "Can't gotta watch some bids"...
Yeah they make coin but they aren't playing the game. If that's fun for them, fine.
The game is what you make it. Never you mind what other people do, just be proud of what you accomplish.

Exactly how I feel. Many argue the only way to succeed is to flip on the AH or buy gold off of me RHAH. I think players are discouraged way too easily. I'll make a comparison to WoW since most users have a WoW background (explains why only 3 million out of 12 million still play ;p). Flipping items all day to make gold then using that gold to buy end game gear can be done in two days. That's like clearing all of the heroic mode bosses in two days and having nothing to do. I think people misinterpret the philosophy of Diablo. In WoW, you want to get the best gear as fast as possible in order to gain access to content such as heroic modes. In Diablo, you want to farm to upgrade your gear. Whether it's finding a leg that you can sell/trade for one you need or actually finding an upgrade, the item hunt is the end game. If you flip/buy gold to get the best gear, you essentially beat the game and find yourself posting on the Battle.net forums an "I quit this game is boring I can do MP10 ubers in 30 seconds blah blah" thread.
Should there be more end game? That's up for debate. However I'm just trying to make a point. Trust me, I love Auction House, but I use it as it was intended. I strongly believe that Blizzard should implement things to discourage AH use. Such as raising the transaction fee up to 30%(or more), implementing a tax for purchasing items, and removing gold from the RMAH. Both are here to stay, so making a thread about why they should be removed is almost pointless. We know the damage that the AH does. However that damage can be controlled very easily.
Probably way too long of a reply, I just have so much on my mind about this game though lol.

That also hurts people who are legitimately trying to sell items though. There are plenty of times when I list an item too high and it doesn't sell. You could set a time frame for the decay to not take effect but then flippers can just hold on to the item. I don't believe that once you purchase an item you should be punished for deciding to resell it at a later time via the Auction House. You would be forced to sell it in trade. Even the flippers can then use trade.
Unfortunately I think specifically targeting flippers runs a risk of hurting legitimate AH users. I also don't mean to imply that flippers are illegitimate AH users either, I am just saying that specifically targeting flippers hurts everybody.
I agree with both Ruksak and Serpenth. My usage of the AH, gold only, was to sell good gear to buy my upgrades (and stockpile gold.... i love mountains of currency in games). But when i farm MP10 for fun, i can't stop thinking about how more efficient is playing the AH/RMAH to gain gear instead of playing the actual game.....
As you can see, my DH doesn't have a double socket Manticore or a crit Mempo for the fact i don't get enough money from my playing sessions these days but i shouldn't complain much. I can farm Mp10, and that's a good accomplishment. Yeah... as Ruksak said: "Never you mind what other people do, just be proud of what you accomplish." Yup. You are right.
But i'm still saddened by this "Wall Street Simulator" that Diablo 3 has become.
I'm still saddened by people who cannot resist the urge to act like a doofus and resort to such purposefully-inaccurate statements. I expect that shit on wartime propoganda posters. I don't expect it in what should be reasonable, intelligent, discussions.

I think, first of all, you shouldn't call anyone a doofus (or ignorant). Second, if you want i will rephrase what i meant, in a less ironic way.
"I'm still saddened that the most efficient way to gain currency and gear is to check what the market needs, what the patch notes say, browse countless of pages on the AH, buy low priced items, wait till prices rise up, sell your stockpiled items to gain profit instead of playing the item hunt game that's Diablo".
I hope this give more insight of what i feel when i see player posting videos or stories about making gold in Diablo 3.

What about when all your friends run MP 8 or whatever, and your puny gear only allows you to run MP3?
ask those bitches to hel you out then, friends help friends

Get to work. Put your fuckin boots on and slay that shit. You made the choice to abstain from the AH, heretofore.....the game is what you made it.
When I said "stay out of the AH"......I didn't mean don't buy and sell using it as the trade vehicle it was intended to be. I mean don't try to play like you're the AH baron. I was addressing habitual flippers and others whom spend more time in the AH than in the game.

Knowledge of the markets has always provided a fast way to the top. I'm still shocked that some people think this is unique to D3. It's not, and nothing will change that.
Whether or not flippers exist, you still will "climb through the ranks" at a faster rate if you're searching for good deals. If you can turn 50k gold into a 1400 DPS weapon with 3% LL, 150 primary stat, 75% crit damage, and a socket because of someone elses ignorance then you're a winner whether or not you resell the item.
I know when I get the itch to buy something on the AH I always look for poorly-priced items. Why? It makes me much more likely to hit the "buyout" button. If I can walk away with a top-end item for 100k gold because someone else didn't know the market that makes for more enjoyment of the game for ME.
So yes, even after you rephrase your statement, I still disagree with it wholeheartedly. You are stating what we know to be obvious. Buying low (whether or not you resell) is the single best way to make your toon better. Capitilizing on undervalued items will always result in the fastest progression through the game. You can't change that. It doesn't make D3 a bad game. It means that those who understand what makes a good item, understand how the patches will effect the relative value of items, etc. will be rewarded for having that knowledge.
I'm not a flipper. I can only farm MP3. But I don't hate people who utilize all the tools at their disposal to succeed.
