I did my first playthrough on patch 15 today, and I got to say it seems way too hard for normal. I played on a wizard, and depsite having amazing luck with weapons it was still far more of a challenge than it should have been. It was taking 2 arcane orbs just to kill a skeleton. Thats right, a weak pathetic skeleton took 2 shots from an ability that costs 1/3 of my bar! Any time I came across a pack of elites I had to use frost nova and actually kite.
Blizzard announced that the 1st part of this game was supposed to be so easy to play that your grandmother could do it. That is simply not the case for most grandmas, as only amazing grandmas could possibly handle this shit!
This leads me to believe that the current beta has just been tweaked for those people playing beta to give them somewhat more of a challenge.
Well who cares? I don't want to play with grandmas... how am I going to get Werther's Originals from them through the screen? I'd rather go see them in person and play Boggle to get my fix.
Personally I want the game to be as difficult as possible while keeping the game still theoretically beatable.
did u play the beta before the monsters got a boost?
i did and it was way to easy, even on my wizard, on my barb i was killing everyhing dead, even wen i was in a 3 man run i could take every thing down on my barb, it was way to easy
i prefer that its harder, it makes you be more tactical & appreciate upgrades in gear in normal mode, its getas your mind ready for nightmare, also its more rewarding to take a beating sometimes
but in proper answer to ur question
the difficulty we see may not be like that come live, it may revert back to very easy or in between, who knows :@)
Yah I started playing way before they gave it a huge buff.
Sure its more fun for you, but what about grandma? A noob is going to walk in and get owned in the part of the game that is supposed to be the tutorial.
I am guessing it will revert back to the old patches, where its really easy.
I don't think that the beta difficulty is too hard, played it with a wizard too, and once you get a decent level and decent gear you can just plow through anything with the right attacks, even when you're fighting alone in a public game with 4 people in it.. So no, I like the difficulty better this way, any easier would just be ridiculous.
Sure once you level up the BS and completely outlevel it then its really easy. But I am talking about the 1st playthrough, like you would do if the game was live. It was way too hard. 2 shots from my most powerful spell just to kill a weak ass skelly?!? When you came acorss an elite pack the only way to survive was to kite.

Noobs like that won't even start nightmare, like ever and they will never learn how to play it better especially if they are older than 6 yo when they still get smarter. Making game troublesome for them will ensure they use RAHM while they still do normal just to be able to finish it Good thinking blizzard.
And btw, grandpas complaining that game is to tough won't make game score lower, too.
So sorry noobies

1 - The beta is now only slightly difficult during some moments, and when you have NO gear (which = fun).
2 - An arcane orb uses up a lot of resource because with decent gear it blows things up; if you're running out of resources that's why spells exist with 0 cost to be effective fillers (eg: shock pulse).
3- If a grandma for some reason has a decent computer, and plans on playing D3, she will probably be competent enough successfully clear up to the skeleton king.
Why is it everyone only votes 1 star for threads? Doesn't matter what the thread is, 1 star. A thread could tell them the meaning of life, 'fuck it 1 star'.

Beta is still way easy @ patch 15 >_<
If there was a /player 4 command I could use even nerfing loot I would, just to be able to pull off abilities properly without mobs insta-dying the second you get near them.
I find the AI to be really dull on a lot of the mobs, they barely do anything, just stand there like an empty bottle waiting for you to break them.
Here's hoping for inferno being as hard as they are saying though!
Even grandpa wouldn't save grandma then
I think it would be great if they could add something like /players command with more loot as an incentive but in the worst case we just have to fly through normal and go to nm.

I have a feeling normal is going to be a little easier come release. NM on will still be really hard which is awesome. Normal tho is the tutorial where the noobs learn how to play, buttons, skills, etc. NM will teach them more advanced gameplay and Hell and Inferno will be the people who are really good. There is no way they want to make the first lvl hard for people who dont even know how the game works yet. I honestly dont care how easy they make Normal as long as NM on is still as hard as they said its supposed to be.
The beta in it's current state is laughably easy. Example being, a lvl 2 witchdoctor with nothing but the basic ceremonial knife on hc downing the SK about 20 minutes ago.. beta is hard? xD
If only your reading comprehension was as elite as you claim your playing was, then you could read at a 3rd grade level, and wouldn't make such bad comments.
Obviously the game is going to revert back to the old style.

All the classes are really weak since they just have no abilities or runes yet. Each class I've felt weaker and weaker in the early levels but by about lvl 4-5 things are a cakewalk.
Unless you are an old woman, or a complete and utter noob, then there is no point in explaining how easy you take out the beta.

This is either one good troll or a really bad mage.
Beta is still easy.
Grandma should be knitting socks or burning down a kitchen not playing D3.
That Wizard moves WAY too much... I understand if she was naked and couldn't take 1 full round of hits maybe... but that was excessive and prolonged the fight.

Yah he might move around a bit too much, but it still took way too long to kill him. Then again, I guess you could argue that wizards are just gimp in patch 15.

Well not all new players will be noobs to ARPG. If they see that difficulty sucks they may quickly loose interest and stop playing while still on NM. So I don't believe it does no matter what normal is. I think all real noobs won't play NM anyway so it is kinda waste of time to be concerned much about them. But ARPG players which never played Diablo series before and any other person who has half of a brain will get bored if they dumb normal to much and they may never attempt playing nightmare which will cause Blizzard to loose good customers who could actually play nightmare if they tried it and use RAHM too.
So I believe that Blizzard will make Normal challenging for all kind of player except diablo veterans (and honestly no diablo veteran claims anywhere that current difficulty level is in anyway challenging, it's more that they think it is actually fun now, though it is far from making your adrenaline rush).
SK kill times
Barb = 2 mins
DH = 2 mins
WD = 2mins
Monk = 2 mins
Wizard = 2.5 mins
So apparently the wizard is gimp, and grandma can't handle the beta.

That's what makes elites fun and not normal mobs, normal or not normal.

3.5 mins to kill a mini boss on normal, the tutorial stage of the game.

hes not running around aimlessly doing nothing.
