Every time I browse the Diablo 3 forums on the new site (particularly the beta feedback forums). All I see is people who where actually lucky enough to get into the beta, complaining about lack of content and demanding additional content be added to the beta.
To be absolutely honest without getting overly annoyed, it pisses me off a lot lol. There is plenty of people worldwide who have no yet been given access, or won't be given access.
That's just it, isn't it? They get in, after all the excitement and exclusivity... only to realize its a huge tease. After a playthrough with each class, the returns on how much you enjoy the game and discover diminish exponentially. It's actually better, considering Blizzard wants a certain amount of people actively playing, and will invite more on that basis. Because of what you commented on, I really don't know if I want to get into beta. Maybe I'd like to just so I can learn the basics of the game so that I'm on a rolling start when release comes. But starting off entirely new is not bad either, consdiering how forgiving the entire skill system is.

So, because they get invited and they don't get more. They have a reason to be annoyed and whine?
Also as I recall your not forced to opt-in for the beta, to bad if it's a tease. You chose to play.
It's a beta, not a demo. It is purely for testing purposes, not to entertain people. If they get bored and stop playing the beta, Blizz will let more people in on the off-chance 10% of them actually test it properly to find bugs and give feedback.
Diablo 3 is like a pepperoni pizza. You anticipate it, long for it, and while it's in the process of cooking you get to eat one pepperoni. That one pepperoni is the beta.

Actually, It's the other way around, Blizzard is running this joke(that they dare call a beta), like a exclusive sneak peak/first look Demo, not a beta.

I would agree with this(based on what info we have). While it is a beta, it doesnt seem like the typical beta Blizzard runs. Then again, they did state they want the game to be a surprise and that the beta is for testing purposes more so than anything.

Completely wrong. Look at the number of changes they have made already. Primarily bnet related stuff. In the beginning, they had to completely disable public games because they were not working. They completely revamped damage mechanics (i.e. based everything off of weapon damage). They changed the DH resource system and are in the process of changing Mantras.
Thus, it is quite obvious, that this is a beta, not a demo.
Quite true, but those changes are yet to be push onto the Beta servers / testers..
Demon Hunter and the Wizards abilities are still not weapon based.
And about people wanting extra content, Meh, It is short, decent to get a feel of it. But not enough to ruin the story telling / full play through of the entire game.
What blizzard didn't want was select people having all this knowledge of the game before release but also to keep the story hidden. More surprise right?

You mean changes they would be doing anyway, because they are clearly still running internal closed beta.
If this was a beta, there would actually be patching going on, but there Isn't, Blizzard says we'll just patch the release(as if there cant be bugs/issues in the changes).
The only real patch, was because of bugs that led to server crashes(and well, you can't be having a demo crashing, can you).
In no way, shape or form, is this joke a beta. The only reason for this demo, is to build up hype(which also explains why It's so exclusive, because they sure as hell aren't stress testing with these low numbers lol, which is suppose to be what we are testing according to Blizzard's excuses as to why there is next to no content), that's it.

What is a typical beta? All of the previous betas back until D2 were betas of multiplayer content, there has not been a beta of Blizzard's Singleplayer content since Diablo 2, and back then it was also just a limited act 1 you got to play, again because they didn't want/need the story spoiled.
I'm not entirely sure if the Starcraft betas were also just multiplayer/skirmish content, but it was back in the time where not a lot of people had any kind of non-dialup internet.
You may say that World of Warcraft has a storyline, and that's true, but i suspect that are more for logistical reasons, they can't really spend time blanking out all of the story content, that's not just feasible, they have tried keeping the bigger storyline quests secretive, until the very end though.
So i would say that this conforms with the "Typical Blizzard beta" if we actually take into consideration what kind of game we're dealing with.
I thought one of the main purposes of the Beta was to test system compatibility? They say that public games are causing all sorts of trouble but why does that have to stop people getting into the beta and playing private games, thus testing compatibility, reporting bugs and achieving the main purpose of the beta. Surely they can disable Public games and the re-enable them again when they iron out all the creases?
Again i could be totally wrong in which case ill shut up
Private games themselves does not allow more people, server capacity does, technically speaking they're seeking to test both system compatibility and stresstesting the servers, but they don't open up for more invites until they feel they can handle it, at some point when they're done scaling up their infrastructure they might want to have a lot of people invited, probably hundreds of thousands, if not more.
Meh. I kept my expectations low because they may it abundantly clear what would and would not be included in the beta weeks (and, in some cases, months) in advance. We knew PvP and Runestones wouldn't be included. We knew the beta would end with the Skeleton King. We might have even known the level cap, although I can't quite remember if we did or not.
I think Blizzard did a good job in this circumstance of not raising hopes and over-hyping things. Anyone who has dashed hopes made them themselves and didn't take the few minutes necessary to scan any Diablo fansite (or just do a Google search) to see what beta is really for and what is included.
To those whining about the content and demanding more they should have their beta privileges revoked instantly because they've obviously forgotten that the beta is just that, A BETA.
Tired of this whining generation of people and gamers who think everyone owes them something and cry moan and whine if they don't get it instead of being thankful for what they've received already.

You actually confuse the term beta, and demo.
What we are currently playing right now is a DEMO, not a beta.
All of the beta opportunities that I have been involved with, have never had around an hour of content in them. The beta is a glorified demo, that is all. Most of the people I've talked with that have beta access as well as myself say the same thing.
This is why beta testers feel like the game is ready to be launched, because we're playing a polished as fuck demo.
Beta = is feature and asset complete version of the game, when only bugs are being fixed.
Playable demos = generally have exactly the same gameplay as the upcoming full game, although game advancement is usually limited to a certain point, and occasionally some advanced features might be disabled.
Now which is the D3 'beta'.
DEMO. 'nuff said

Why would they let you test the full game? And spoil it for milllions? That would be ridiculously stupid.
It is a single player game, they do not need the players to test all the content. Rather, they need the players to test various hardware.
Call it a beta, call it a demo, heck call it a beta demo or demo beta if you want, but the above fact wont change.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!

That's yet another reason It's a demo, if it were a beta, the focus wouldn't be on keeping ******* secrets, a beta is for testing bugs, people that join a beta, should be fully aware that it will spoil what otherwise would be a surprise.
Also to prevent any major leaks, they could always have people sign a NDA(meaning to see things ahead of time, you would have to go through the effort of joining the beta, which thankfully would force these people to actually test as well), which oddly enough Blizzard didn't have one in this so called beta(when they require a NDA for every other beta), why? Because this Isn't a beta in any way, shape or form, it is as another poster said, a glorified demo.
Jac, you do realize all the info was leaked when hackers got a hold of the client and data mined the living shit out of it? and alpha testers have leaked info as well. We dont do spoilers like that on this site, so guess what...
if you knew how to search the internet you would know the entire d3 story right now.
if people dont wanna know the story, dont check up on beta news? its easy to avoid really.
Fact is, the beta is actually a demo.
