From casual reading of various D3 Beta forums I have concluded that the reason there aren't any mass waves of invites going out is because the Beta is riddled with bugs.
Must be nice to work on a project that doesn't have to meet deadlines or schedules and has the mission statement of "when it's done" at some point company execs have to put their foot down and light a fire under the devs team ass!
And I'm really over hearing about how Blizzard only releases fully polished quality products, Diablo 1 & 2 were great games, never saw the big deal about the starcraft and wow games, some of the old Warcraft games were ok but nothing earth shattering, and that's really about it.
I wish Blizzard north were still on the scene still because we would all probably be playing Diablo 5 now and not queuing up for a chance to try out a bug infested beta.
And from first hand experience, the Beta is riddled with bugs... that I never noticed. The game works perfectly fine for the most part and has no glaring in-your-face issues whatsoever that I've noticed. Its already more polished and bug free than 99% of the PC release I come across on day one... and its not out yet!
I love all the random threads like this one were some random person, who has not even play the game, can somehow site specific examples to the inter workings of a multi-billion dollar corporation. How do you know about their internal deadlines or how hard the devs have worked?
Man, people are defensive over Blizzard, even calling "troll" lol. Ridiculous. I'm a fan of Diablo and well I played Wow a longlong time, but I'm by no means any bigtime "fan" of Blizzard, and even if I was I wouldn't be so defensive like someone threw your mom jokes at me. Especially when the case is that there is reason for it.
OP is pretty much dead on, at least when it comes to Blizz's situation with D3. You can't blame people for having opinions, neither for complaining, at least not with reason. That applies to any scenario, more so in this case as no matter what stance you take, things aren't going "smoothly". Alas it would be odd if no one said anything, if you can't talk your opinion when you're unhappy/disappointed, can you ever ? I happen to share OP's view. If anything Blizz should be happy as we're letting them know what they're doing well, and not so well. It's feedback.
Those are legit screens from the 05 Diablo 3 when Blizznorth actually worked on it.. so sad how that turned out I would've quit after 1 week. Thank god Blizz took over and is taking their time.

It's really not that bad. I've played through the whole campaign straight upwards of ten times now and only encounter one speech bug and an AH glitch, both of which are known and being worked on.
The reason there aren't waves of invites is because 1) they've already stated on numerous occasions that it would be a very, very small beta and 2) they've already stated on multiple occasions that if current testers remain highly active, they will not have to send out many more invites.

And we'd be crying ourselves to sleep.
Seriously the D3 we have now looks infinitely better than that^^
