With all the changes causing so much ire. I figured I would atleast put a positive perspective out there in regards to game play. Hardcore mode, will still be hardcore. With the pay-to-rule functionality being implimented with normal mode, at first I must admit I was disapointed. After giving it a little though and reading a few articals, I found solace in the fact that hardcore players will not be able to buy their way to success.

Same here, I'm glad they wont be doing that with HC, I'm hoping i can stay away from softcore in general, hopefully we wont need to finish the game once to be able to make a HC character this time around.
and hardcore will be purchasing items through illegal 3rd party sites selling items for real money ^^
Nope, that's not how hardcore works. The people that play hardcore are truly a different breed. Buying items will not sit well with the hc community. A 3rd party would never work for hc especially.

Believe it or not ppl did buy items/runes through 3rd party sites in Diablo 2 HC, so some ppl will still do it eventually but I'm glad it didn't get blizzards support cause it would be to easy to get tempted buying something and then dying 10mins later would be twice as annoying
For the people who were very put off by the RMAH but weren't put off enough by it to "quit", this isn't a good alternative. It's their only alternative.

This will be my alternative. I still want the game, i just don't want that bullshit. the 4 years i expected 2 blow on this game(like i did diablo 2) has now reduced to about 4 weeks. I hang on this site and on the blizzard one just praying they change there mind. I wont give up hope, but at least theres a little bit of silver in the black lining to an awesome game.
There will be no HC 3rd party sites that sell gear or gold? Did you play D2? Of course there will be sites, if there is money to be made there will be a seller.
I posted in another topic (sorry didn't see this one).
I'm worried that RMAH will make me not want to play hardcore. Can hardcore players put items up on the AH? They can't buy, but can they sell?
Either way, hardcore players will not be able to make money or will be able to make less money than a regular player. If hardcore can not sell, then they make no money. If they can sell they have to go slower through content or tackle weaker content to stay alive.
I like money more than my epeen. My epeen will shrivel when I die anyway - and everyone dies in hardcore unless you're a pussy.

When the game hits the store shelves all of those that whined about this will buy the game anyways.
Why would someone in hardcore risk purchasing gear? If they die they lose it permanently. Seems like a bad idea to me.
Because SOME people are stupid enough to do it .. and instead of making the risk of losing your char trying to farm those items, they would rather purchase them and become epics right away ..
Happened in D2, so why wouldn't it in D3? ..
i used fg to equip my hc chars in d2 b/c it gave them better survivability, thus from that i gained more items, thus becoming rich.
its only stupid if you suck at the game and die, i've gone 2 seasons w/o dying to pvm, people who do are dumb.
Was planning on playing hardcore anyway so this is perfect to me. Just wondering how pvp will work with hardcore is all that's concerning me at the moment. I'll likely have to make a softcore character strictly for pvp which is a bit saddening.
If anything, HC mode lends itself much more strongly to the cash AH. I for one am disappointed that I can't make money off the newbs in HC that will pay a higher price for the gear (because of the constant gear recycling) but then losing it all when they die only to buy the gear again. Oh well, guess I'll just have to pay for my mortgage in SC mode.
I'm surprised hardcore is still in the game. I mean what if someone makes a hardcore character and dies, then leaves the game with a bad impression? Also how are they supposed to gain money of hardcore players? We know they can't sell items because too many people would complain about losing money (it could even be taken to court) so maybe in the future they'll let you keep purchased items after you die. I have a feeling that somewhere along the line either through patches or the expansions, Blizzard will dumb the game down further. We saw it with WoW, Diablo has become more noob friendly throughout development and eventually we will be left with an easy, shallow game.
Yes I am bitter. They are dumbing the game down and have introduced P2W because all they see are $ signs these days. Because of the RMAH we have no ladder in PvP. We can't even see how many losses we have because it might hurt our feelings. It should be motivation to play better, but no it has to go.
I'm looking forward to my HC witch doctor very much. I think the presence or absence of an RMAH makes absolutely no diffirence to me though. In other games I play/have played there are ways to buy currency with cash from other players legitimately and it is nothing new or exciting/aggrivating to me. The added bonus that Blizzard is actually doing it right by keeping the maket player-driven (ie. not just selling gold/items from their own store) and still making some token fee money to keep up with patching is an added bonus.
The fact HC players get to benefit from the income (to blizzard from the SC players) while not having to actually invest themselves should be more than enough reason to make those with qualms about it switch from softy mode.

In D2 it was way too easy to farm items for the sellers.. It was so risk free that you could trust a bot to do it even in HC.. also losing a char in HC didn't matter much in D2, since people just rushed it to hell and leeched to 80 in a matter of hours and continued farming.
I hope D3 is different and farming items is harder.. one should be doing something meaningful and while doing it one could find valuable items. Not like in D2 that you just farm items without doing anything really meaningful like random quests or dungeons.

Thanks Caniroth for the awesome sig!
