you have six round buttons that are, from left to right: Character Info, Inventory, Skills, Quests, Social (this was not able to be selected in the demo) and Settings. They're pretty self-explanatory and function like their counterparts in World of Warcraft.
This was a rundown from someone that played the demo. I never played WoW (don't like keeping up with payments) so if anyone has, what exactly does that 'Social' button encompass? Are we talking friend's lists, teamspeak options, emotes, or what?
It's been a while since I've actually played Diablo 2. But I'm pretty sure you're exaggerating and you're a stupid fuck if you think that emotes and social actions in a game automatically make it a MMORPG or any thing related to it.
Did I say that? When did I exagerate? I'm asking a question, "should i be worried that's it's mmo like?" and you're pretending I said it's an mmo. This isn't a flame-fest. Cool your jets, man.

I didn't click it when I played the demo. It's less likely emotes and shit and more likely looking at people in game, inviting/chat options. It might even be incomplete since there's a lot they could do socially with the new Battle.net.

i did. You assumed and implied. Even if you didn't target me specifically noone's a stupid fuck just because they think differently than you on a subject you both know little about.

That's a load off of my mind.

like many already mentioned its the party screen but im expecting something more especially with the new battle.net. a friends list in there on a different tab and can quickly and easily invite friends and warp right in or somethin.
They hinted for friend list. So I'd expect it to also be in under "Social". As well as a search option to see if such player is on-line and if yes then in what game, etc.

World of Diablo?
Also, what, in your opinion, is NOT 'mmo like'? Typing commands in order to contact your friends? I don't know what rings your bells but if you are 'worried' for the loss of that feature in today's age of gaming then perhaps you should silently go back to D2 and forget D3 was ever announced.
Social menu in D2: People in game. No out-of-game "Social Menu" akin to what is being spoken of in this convo. (You had commands to check friends lists, not an actual menu.)
Social menu in WoW: Friends list. Ignore list. Guild list. Channel list. Looking-for-group (Should you choose to enter "Looking for Group".).
The WoW one was much more in depth, and more fitting for a game of this day and age, but seeing as there is a unnatural fear of anything having to do with WoW on this forum, people here probably just want the D2 style social menu.
I would love MMOs if they didnt have emote, but I can't stand them. Something about being able to make my character do stuff besides kill things is a total turnoff and makes the gameplay suck.

hey ya check out my post? its a lil up above, im interested if i could possibly have something going with it.. if they can make tabs on the skills menu they can make tabs on the social menu. about your commands that might be true for diablo 2 but with diablo 3 altho im sure there will be commands they might make it more user friendly for those who dont feel like typing out something that will appear for a couple seconds then dissapear. i believe this way players can invite friends to games etc.. with the new b.net who knows though.

just wanna point something out... I have +300 hours logged on GW. 21 on hellgate. City of heroes? I don't even want to do the math to figure out how much I've played. I'm not afraid of mmos. I just think that Diablo is legendary as a hack-n-slash. I really doubt it will be half as fun as an mmo. I've agreed with you on almost everything you've ever posted, dimebog, but understand where I'm coming from before you tell me it's the wrong direction.
that said, i don't think a 'social' button is mmo-like. I think emotes are. I'd love emotes. But I've slowly realized that it would cheapen the experience. The title, by the way, is a grabber. I've always thought it was funny as hell that people would flip out and call d3 that. It stood to reason that the thread would get faster replies with something like that in the title than with "the game that might be kinda almost mmo-like'

I went to reply but then got caught up doing something else, then returned and a number of posts had been made without my knowing.

Anyway, yes, I would like it if there was a social menu akin to any current gen online video game...
under social you could possibly access the friends list and guild tab. Maybe the ignored players list too. Its how it happens in every multiplayer game.
the only important part is...
