I hope for a class that isn't spell based
I understand you will need the odd spell
(not to mix spell with skill)
But I mean, A upfront melee class that just wreaks havoc on the front lines
and not to complain or attract any hate, I want one that doesn't have magical hammers being summoned lol.
I'm not saying *CHANGE THE BARB CHANGE THE BARB*
Just want a class that doesn't summon anything or do any skills that appear too "out of the world" for them.
I didn't mind the Barbs Charge technique where he just zooms straight ahead clearing a path
That seems like a skill I would love
But all in all
a class that doesn't come off magic like
because I'm sure
3-4 of the 5 will
And I beg blizzard for one ravaging melee one
Who's with me?
The only non-magic class that can work is with cooldown skills aka Nox + alternative names for energy sources (fury, rage aka WoW). I am not sure if that works for Diablo. The way it was made is always mana based. I didn't exactly liked that, but that's how Diablo II was, not sure if you can really change much.
Not to be entirely rude...but I'm a little confused.
Your asking for a class with no magical presence around it in anyway, from a game world thats enshrouded in magic.
The seems a little redundant to me.
What do you want to play, a farmer with a pitch fork?
Anyway, the closest thing you will get to that is the Barbarian, but even they have a little mysticism about them(I mean do you really think its JUST physical prowess that allows them to leap that bloody high?)
Anyway, the Barbarian in D3 doesn't use mana, if you notice while playing the barb, the players "mana pool" is a light greenish-blue, but is straight blue on the witch doctor. Further examination of the video when he highlights over a few skills reveals that the Barbarian uses a Stamina pool instead of mana.
Well, even if it's called stamina, is it all that different from mana? How does it regenerate? Is it affected by fighting? Items? Damage taken?
I could accept a rage system - aka WoW, where you get points for fighting. I could also accept a quick recharge stamina bar that is not affected by items. Or no mana/stamina at all and just cooldowns. Otherwise, it's still a spellcaster with a different name for the orb.

I understand you kinda always have to have a form of mana/rage
but I mean
the skills/spells the melee char would use
just shouldn't come off spellcaster-like
that's all
that when you're playing that char
you don't feel too magical
you just feel like
some badass motherfucker
Ready to sever some limbs with your massive bladed arsenal
I don't see how a brute force warrior is any more badass than a sorcerer... but, anyway, I don't really remember the barb have a lot of spellcasting spells. Most of them were physical, except maybe berserk, but it's hard to balance a class if it ONLY has physical damage.

lol oh I'm sure there will be a badass melee class other than barb
and I do not think that it's JUST physical Prowess that allows them to leap that bloody high
I KNOW it's Because they're the elite physical warrior

I know it's hard to balance, pretty much impossible
But i can only hope
and it may not be more badass to you
but each to their own
because it is to me

So you want the barbarian without the color? and i still don't see how the barbarian is classified as a melee/spellcaster, seeing how every attack he has except seismic slam is completely melee based. Just another color whinefest if you ask me

We don't know anything about how stats, or item effects at this stage of development. Blizzard has yet to reveal more information on those subjects.
If your wanting something that uses cooldowns. Its not gonna work.
Diablo is not that style of game. Its not slow, its fast.
Diablo 1, best weapon in the game, Kings Sword Of Haste...high damage, extremely fast. Hotkets for quick spell swapping.
Diablo 2, you want as much increased attack speed as you can get. Faster hits, means more damage dealt, and more life stolen. Added even more hotkeys for spell swapping
Diablo 3 so far has shown to follow a similar pattern of the faster you can think, the faster you can use all your skills, the better you will do. Now adding an entire action bar in addition to having two presets of left click + right click.
Spells/Abilities with long cooldowns just don't work. They would have to be extremely powerful, which would but unbalanced.
You know, you shouldn't use the enter key after every three words, but w/e...
Anyway, any front line hack-and-slash character will still need some sort of area move, otherwise they get stuck with a disadvantage i.e. not killing as many things per attack. Whirlwind was good, but compared to Frozen Orb, well...
The new Barb looks great, he can still go melee pwnage, but when completely mobbed, he just leaps out and bust out a shockwave.
And who can argue with that?
Edit: Holy crap, in the time it took me to write that, you guys just took it away, didn't you?

I don't want anything. I am simply offering how to make a true melee fighter.

Cooldowns don't make a game slow. Go play Nox and tell me how "slow" they are. If DII is designed that cooldowns make it slow that's not an issue of the mechanic.

No they wouldn't. You just need to get out more.
Why does everyone always resort to insulting people when they disagree with them??
No not at all... your asking too much imo. Any moves that would be exciting/useful for a melee class have already been taken by the barb.... Your asking for them to make the game more boring... this isn't a world where physical strength overcomes much... I mean you saw the size of that siege breaker... if you want a "upfront melee class", they would just get wrecked...
And I wouldn't want to play a character that has, stab, stab type two, bash, "omg look at me I have single target moves that do nothing except add XX damage to my attack."... D2 barb was boring and lifeless... except for WW and then all you did was spam WW... which was boring.
In fact... what the hell is so "magical" about the barbarian that he isn't a "pure" physical class? He summons a hammer from his ancients that pummels his enemies into the ground... He cleaves, (hitting multiple targets with his weapons) he leaps/leap attacks, he whirlwinds, he charges.... It's not like he has "chance to summon a fireball on attack....
Man people find one little thing to nit pick and blow the whole thing out of proportion.

You can read my original post
I did not specifically say
that it be the Barb or another class
Either or
I just want pro melee class
and Considering we've only seen a taste of the game
no one can say the barb is just that
so I was merely covering all my bases
and suggesting maybe another char would be more melee and such
Comprende?
and the hammer thingy
well that's just me getting a little paranoid
that the barb will be too magical
but no one knows lol
and I understand how lame d2 barb was
and i'm not suggesting stab stab blah blah your bs attacks
there are still many available ideas (i'm sure) that could be used
for a melee class that don't seem magical
like an attack where you would throw your main weapon through a crowd and it woudl do like x2/3
dmg and it would come back and hit again like a boomerang
man
THATD BE DOPE
LOL
End of Thread
But seriously
I mean
How bitching is the boomerang skill
imagine a huge two handed axe
flying through enemies
it'd be ranged
good for distance with bosses
I mean
come on, that's just awesome imo
no?
End of thread lol

Read on DII lore. Barbarians do inherit some magical powers... Your problem. Cut it out.
