Because seriously? I spent over 1500 hours in Diablo 2 and that's pretty much for a game that does not have any end-game content. It's starting to bore me, and that is why I craved for D3.... And not another Diablo 2! That said, I like what Blizzard is doing on pretty much everything I've seen so far.
Firstly, my Blizzard collection, just to show that I am a fan, and not some random dork who thinks has sucked all the knowledge in the world after playing through D2 once, in Normal difficulty:
Now to make my point:
I would be really disappointed if they made D3 all dark and washed out. For now it looks more gothic and vibrant than many locations in D2. Also, you can't expect to have the entire game all dark and choking! There has to be a contrast somewhere for hell's sake!
Also I would be really disappointed if they were going to use the tetris inventory system. I mean that just slowed down the gameplay and it was very annoying and limiting. Not to mention that invisible backpacks don't have columns so that you have to play an annoying minigame every time you want to pack a new item. Way to go Blizzard, for improving the inventory system. I for one welcome all improvements, unlike some supposed 'diablo fans' here. Everything that makes my Diablo experience more enjoyable (and challenging), I welcome.
I think the game looks amazing and very promising. As long as they put some more depth in the combat system and make bosses require actual skill to beat them.... I am not going to complain. I just want more content and serious itemization. And some sort of a BoP system - everyone has to kill the same bosses I did in order to earn the godly gear it took me so much time and skill to get, and not whip out his PayPal account and purchase them in 15 minutes from some loot site or get them from a friend. BoP system or Diablo 3 fails.
I am a huge Blizzard fan and I own all of their games and I simply love Diablo 2, but if Diablo 3 turns out to be just another Diablo 2, I don't see why I should buy it. I already have a couple.
EDIT: Before you ask a bold question concerning as to why I do not have original release boxes or Classic Arcade titles, read on a bit.....
Yeah, I really do think the items have to be soulbound or make it somehow that websites can't whore themselves out and sell that crap for real money. But then again, the whole trading system of D2 literally consumed me. I probably spent just as much time trading for items as I did playing (and that was a lot!)

I agree. Things seem to work out. I imagine the terrain and colors will change depending on where you are. No BOP though dear God please.
They are not making a D2 clone, a God of War clone might be a better comparison, seeing as how members of blizzard admitted to borrowing portions of that game, and it clearly shows.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
The thing with D2 was that it had a bad economy. When, essentially, a rare or unique never got destroyed or sold, the value of it goes down tremendously. When you have a mule that has 20 Windforces and Grandfathers, then something is very wrong with the economy. I don't think a Bind-On-Pickup should be implemented but maybe a Bind-On-Use instead. That way, you can still use items to barter but once you use it, you either must continue using it or sell it. It's the "best" of both worlds, in my opinion.
And please, let gold have some sort of value. What is the point of even putting currency into a game if it will never be used? Let's just put flocks of sheep in every dungeon then... It just doesn't make sense!
sounds like the mutterings of a WoW fanboy. you don't even have diablo's original boxes you bought them after they went best seller edition and battle chest.

The only reason why I do not have original releases (big cardboard boxes) of most my Blizzard games is because you could not purchase them here, at the time they were in production, and I cannot get them from eBay because PayPal is not supported in my country. So I could not have gotten a legal copy of Lost Vikings (and I know it's a great game). I also do not have a GBA or DS so I'm not going to be getting those until (and if) I do get a portable console.
I never played God of War so I cannot know, nor do I really care. I just know that I enjoy what I see. And I am feeling seriously aggravated by the amount of complainers who talk out loud before returning to D1 and D2 to check out how things really were, since apparently their memory fades more quickly than they could type a post on a forum. Why did everyone cry for a new Diablo game if they do not want to see any improvements? Yes, I think they are improvements - Blizzard improves and refines all aspects of their games as the franchises develop.
I remember how people bitched when D2 got out and said how it's nothing to do with D1. As I said on another forum, most of these complainers would gladly go back in time and prevent Blizzard from implementing stash in D2 because it wasn't there in D1, and prevent them from implementing runewords, because they weren't there in retail D2, etc, etc.... Same thing now. Except that this time I fear Blizzard might have an ear for the complaints, and simply release another, flawed D2 game with dark and uninspired graphics. That would seriously make me turn my back on them. I want Blizzard to make my game, and not a bunch of forum kids who think that if something in D3 starts with the same letter as something in WoW, it has to be a bad thing.

Yes, but back then there weren't 8k+ people signing a petition to change the art style because it looked like too much like another Franchise. Nobody is forcing Blizzard to do anything, either. Take a couple deep breaths.

When you start living here (Serbia), I will ask you where are your original boxes. The Diablo Battlechest can only be purchased in USA, and I went there in person to get it. Think twice before you post that someone is a WoW fanboy, or I will have no other choice but to refer to you as idiotboy.
Agree with you, i want D3 to be different than D2, improved in every aspect, the grahpics, the gameplay, the items, etc etc
And from the demo i saw i say they are on the right track, and they should completely ignore all the silly petitions to change the game's looks, cause that's a step backwards for both the production and the game itself.

Pre-LOD there was endgame.. since practically you couldn't reach max level.. or you could with huge harcore playing(or long time, but ladder resets were every ½ year or so). So there was always more exp to gain, also best items were rares and you didn't have to run just 1-5 mobs to get them, they dropped equally from every mobs (except +2 skill amus from diablo only) and good thing about rares is that you can almost always find a little bit better one. 6 modifiers what a luck to get item with best modifiers. So while u were getting more exp to your character you always had a chance to get some better items.
I'll take a Diablo 2 clone with better graphics, new areas, new classes, new items, and new quests... oh wait that's what Diablo 3 is going to be...

Right inside the Battle Chest. When Blizzard decides to start selling it again, I'll be the first to get it. I cannot buy that which is not being sold.
Well there has to be a balance, and contrasts. I don't want them to make the same game, but I also want them to stay true to what Diablo means to so many people who play it. It's still early yes, but they really need to town down this shit, the dungeons looked like they where getting lit my sickly green neons in the roof!!!! That's not Diablo. I'm all for some areas with colours. And a main thing, light radius, it gives a sense of isolation that is really awesome IMO.
The one thing I noticed about D2 yes they used fair bit of colour in some areas, but it was in extremely good taste, ie the dark areas where contrasted with bright and colourful spells (ie, when a zombie died he spewed fluro green toxic shit).

Maybe add more RPG elements. For ex, when traveling, maybe your char will need rest or food on the way, so you have to pay for meals and lodging.
Or make it so you need food in general when youre out in the open so you have to buy these in town.

And learn your Blizzard games - it's not called 'Blackthorn'.

I believe perfectly relevant to the Wow fanboy's game collection displayed in the first post.
Second, if you read previous posts you would learn that I do not have the game because of technical reasons, and not because it's irrelevant.
