i hope they bring back the amazon in all her glory
sadly though, w/ male/female class gender options, i imagine it wont be the amazon anymore, but instead bring back the Archer.
@Dragonov: Healer? no.
diablo has never had a healer class. this isnt wow. we will more than likely see a Support class, like the paladin again. So a priest isnt out of hte question, but he sure as hell wont be running around shooting "Holy Blessing" restoring 150hp's to targeted allie.

lol I thought i edited that before anyone saw it i didn't mean priest it was the only name that came to mind at the time all i meant was a class that could heal as well as pour out some lethal damage IE paladin, a class they make up entirely We may be going a bit generic here with ranger and mage if they're going with a class like witch doctor they will probably use a lot of new kinds of classes
For everyone who considers priest to WoW-like, stop thinking WoW, then. When I said priest, as well as most of the other people here, it just means a healing/support class. You could name it whatever. Cleric, Priest, Pally, etc.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The Vampire Lives Eternally. It Was Promised Eternal Death.
-Barbarian
-WitchDoctor
-Paladin (sorry but this class is just badass, and having a fighter of the light sounds just normal)
-Elemental Druid/Sorc (They need at least 1 caster that shoot frost/fire/lightning)
-Warlock (could be great, something a bit... evil)
rofl, go back to wow. A hack`n slash game dont need tanks, or healers or stealthers...deathknights are coming with wotlk. Amazons had a valkyrie and assassins had traps in D2...
Several wants a ranger/rogue combo. Do you want it to be as powerfull as ranged as in close combat?!? Wont happen. Mediocre in both then? Sounds horrible. The ranged class should do massive ranged damage, and little damage in close combat. The close combat assassin should do close combat dmg. only imho.
I've never played WoW =_=. Though I do agree tanks would be kind of weird in diablo lol, but I'm just trying to say that it would be cool if blizzard releases some unexpected classes like that or whatever.
In the beginning of the Gameplay Video.. after introducing the barabarian class the person said "This is one of the several classes in diablo 3" I really doubt thats a mistake
Barbarian, Witchdoctor, Ranger (can't call a zon a "zon" anymore because amazons are all female), Sorcerer/ess, and a new form of Paladin are on my list for characters in non-expansion D3.
I wouldn't be surprised if they all get completely new looks and names. The barb apparently learned how to wash his face, judging by how his blue battle paint is washed away. He also looks much older and rugged.
I expect to see some similar changes in all of the other returning characters.
I saw someone saying that the sorc could return as an "elementalist." DEFINITE possibility.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see major revamping of the skill trees, almost like new characters.
Hang on, there's good reason not to get over it. The necro has a large footprint of lore in the Diablo universe.
That said, I do agree with keeping an open mind. This is Blizzard, people, they are in the business of keeping us on our toes. I think the Barb made it just for continuity. None of the D1 chars made it to D2.
Still there have been some great ideas - they just may be under different names with different backgrounds.
My guess:
1. Barbarian (Given)
2. Witch Doctor (Given)
3. Death Knight - Sort of like Lachdanan from Diablo I. This would be a blend of a dark Paladin and Necromancer, Melee and summoning\curses.
4. Archmage - Something to allude to the Mage clans/Horadrim/Ancient Religions. Pure spellcasting. Waaaay overloaded on power at the expense of survivability.
5. Mercenary\Thief or Tracker - Yes, of course, we must have a bow wielder, but this would include thievery, stealth, and trap dimensions.
Yes - I don't think they'll stop here.
6. Excorcist - The uber-paladin, makes D2's paladin look like a rose-tinted father Mulcahy. Ever thought about those torture tools from the dark ages? Be creative - would use terrible traps and command a fearless zealous crowd of faithful acolytes to help "cleanse" dungeons. Hybrid summoner\Aura\Physical traps.
7. Deific Shapeshifter - I like the post about the remains of the Zakarum. These would be heavy shapeshifters and budget casters. There are "good" diety and "evil" diety skill trees. Imagine fighting with Tyrael's wings, Diablo's Fire\Lightning blast, Andariel's poison, or heck, just the raw brute strength of a god.

OK, I'm out there, but hey, why not?
I agree with you i think seeing the witch doctor they are going to make a whole bunch of new classes which is fine with me the witch doctor seems like he's gunna be almost exactly like the necro anyways
I think they may have one older class, my guess would be sorcerer(D1)/sorceress(D2) and the other 2 will be new ones completely (Though they will have some familiar skills/spells)
sadly though, w/ male/female class gender options, i imagine it wont be the amazon anymore, but instead bring back the Archer.

zon/rogue
sorceress/sorceror
would stay loyal to D and D2.
lol we've only been waitiing for this for almost 10 years.
that makes me feel old.

from 1:17-1:25
witch doctor
rogue
sorceress (new name because they can be male)
paladin
to sum it up a nice balance of 2 casting classes, 2 melee classes, and a ranged class.
