To the ultimate weapon, if there was one created, which is almost impossible, then an equal item/event/person of power would have to be created on the side of hell, as the Balance says.
And the Nephalem are slowly getting weaker, the farther our bloodline gets from Uldyssian. An army of them wouldn't do much good unless they unleased their full power somehow.
What would fit the witch doctor even more then shrunken heads are the crazy voodoo masks he's wearing in most of the picture. I could easily see that being the class-specific item. If there is one.
I'm with SFJake as well, active block has no place in D3.
Ever play Oblivion ?
That game itself was quite good, but the combat system was so unbearably easy, and insanely boring.
The only way I could actually get some fun out of that combat system, was to simply dodge and evade attacks. Blocking felt way too easy, so I avoided it entirely.
But for those who did use the block system, basically you held block until an attack, then attacked after a successful block. This led to very repetitive and unchallenging gameplay.
Someone played on the lowest difficulty possible. If you turn the difficulty all the way up, unless your skill is 100, you'll skill be taking damage, and your blocks will often fail, causing you to stumble, as you probably know.
Anyway, block might be a good idea if they do it right. Some sort of mix between passive and active.
I disagree; nearly every preview and interview for Diablo 3 so far has indicated that it is meant first and foremost as a cooperative multiplayer title. I don't dislike the idea of a class with strong healing abilities at all, although they would need to be implemented in a way that ensured a balanced solo game in addition to functioning as a support class
Multiplayer game, yes. But there's different types of multiplayer. There's games like WoW, in which you work together and each fill a role. And then there's games like (ignoring the genre difference) Halo, where you're all working together, but doing the same thing: Killing. Diablo has always been a get together and slaughter everyone game. That's what made it fun. Adding healers (or enforcing any roles, really.) would take away the feeling of Diablo.
Siaynoq, referring to your comment about Bethesada being anti-boss battle and the ending of Oblivion. Although I agree with you that it would be nice to use your nice, powerful character that you worked on through out the whole game, the storyline made it so that for you, an ordinary guy who was really just a support character, wouldn't be able to do much against this powerful king from the plane of Oblivion. It just wouldn't really make sense. XP
If you've read the books, it has always been Heaven vs. Hell. But, if you actually payed attention to the books, all the humans are on their own side, fighting for sanctuary. So, if they do make a heaven vs. hell, it would be a lore destroyer. Just like WoW. -.-
This is probably been already stated, but every person I know that is under 18 and plays WoW, is under their parents or friends credit card. No one uses this game card crap. And, I'd have to say, Kids are about maybe 35-45% of blizzards cash.
Personally, I think Archie is semi-right. The Witch Doc isn't really a replacement for the Necromancer (Maybe the druid). For one, it's more shamanistic. It's summon is an animal, and a earthly one at that. Necro is more poison, bones, curses, and it's summons are skeletons. Second, they could do what Archie said and make the Necro more melee based. And third, the Necromancer has an extreme part in lore. Taking it out wouldn't make sense. Then again, they bombed the Warcraft lore too.
Personally, I think these theories that Tyreal is corrupted or evil is wayyyy stretched. I mean, you never know, but I dont think it's leaning that way.
For everyone who considers priest to WoW-like, stop thinking WoW, then. When I said priest, as well as most of the other people here, it just means a healing/support class. You could name it whatever. Cleric, Priest, Pally, etc.

That would be great! Make room for the cool classes, Mr. Pally.
