Hey guys.
I play a monk and I try to find a Torch and the Tzo Kins Gaze spirit stone but unfortunately Im not lucky enough...
Anyway some people I grouped for some rifts had the same problem with some items and they claimed that if u make a new champion of the same class (for example monk :P) ,maybe the possibilities of getting the item u wanted with your old champion will change(for the best or for worse :P)
Is it true or that's all bull!@#$ ?
Thanks in advance!!!
p.s I know its kinda ''stupid'' but i really want ur opinion boyz!!
It's technically true that your luck will change but not necessarily for the better (think switching tables in blackjack). You might have been 1 rift away from getting a perfect ancient incense torch on your original character, and then never find it on your new character. Or you might find the perfect ancient incense torch on your new character in 5 minutes. It all comes down to RNG, there is no objective proof that making a new character helps but if you just wanna shake things up and hope for the best it doesn't hurt.
but if you just wanna shake things up and hope for the best it doesn't hurt.
Technically, it could hurt.
The Incense Torch is a level 50 item. Something like The Furnace, is 31.
How much would it suck, to be leveling a new character, just to "shake things up" with the RNG (that can't be shaken), and at level 36, you have a Furnace drop, or at 59 an Incense Torch?
No that wouldn't hurt because drops are independent. A new character getting a 59 incense Torch does not prevent or decrease the chance of another incense Torch dropping after hitting 70, same with a low level furnace.
So, you're telling me, if you had two monks, a level 70 that you'd put a bunch of hours into, and had yet to have an Incense Torch drop, then, you rolled a second monk, and in the mid-50's had an Incense Torch drop, you wouldn't be even the slightest bit aggravated, and question to yourself, if only you had stayed on your primary monk?
I get that the drops are independent, but by rolling up a second character, you increase your chances of getting a desirable drop at a level that renders it useless for endgame. The chances of that happening on a sub level 70 character, are whatever that item's drop chance is. The chances of it happening on a level 70 is exactly zero.

My first three RoRGs were all low-level ones obtained whilst leveling alts. Brought tears to the eyes, it did. Was a long time before I ever saw a level 70 one.
I can tell you a little something something about why you should NEVER try this.
I was also after a incense torch of the grand temple. I made a new monk because i never got it and thought i try my luck on a new character. While getting boosted by my friends one dropped. A lvl 53 one. Needless to say. Much rage was had
I am so desperate about this Torch cause it's really the only item I need for my monk...It's unbeilavable to see a huge amount of monks possess that item and I dont even looted it once!!! Not even to see how it looks like by my own eyes!!!

I wouldn't roll another character (no proof that it is worth it) but yes I wouldn't be aggravated because on the first character there is no guarantee that the torch or desirable item would have dropped during that time, and it doesn't affect future chances of that item dropping on any character. You say you get that drops are independent but then everything you say after that implies the opposite. Like you think drops are connected between the two characters. As far as we know drops are random and independent, if the developers say something else then maybe you would have a point.
It's all RNG (for which we have a thread), there's no specific thing to increase your drop chance for something or whatever. Please do not make up tinfoil hat theories.
