After the patch, the updates to meteor don't seem to make the skill viable. It seems I can do more effective damage just hurling arcane orbs than trying to hit something with meteor swarm. , because I miss a lot less with the arcane orbs. Plus, the increased cost of meteors means I can't call down enough for them to be effective.
Do others feel the same way? Personally, I think they should reduce the delay of the meteors by 30-60%.
I guessed that meteor wouldn't become viable. It wasn't in D2 either. I'm at work, and personally I'd like to hear how the CM WW wizzys are fairing after nerf. I have around 40% crit chance and I'm just not sure it will be enough.
I cleared inferno with meteor before ever switching to WW because I just hated it, with the buff now it should be extremely good as long as you can tank act3+ which really isn't hard at all. Don't underestimate spamming of 400%+ weapon dmg meteors compared to which WW hits like a noodle. ESPECIALLY with arcane dynamo.

Works pretty good, you die a lot more because it's harder to start a crit roll. You also need to not button mash like you did before, as AP regen is far slower, so you need to time your skills better to not AP starve yourself.
I have 17 Ap on crit, would be far nicer with a helm for AP regen, but haven't gotten around to that yet.
TL;DR: Still works, just have to play it much smarter.

The ground aoe left by meteor has 25% CM coef which procs ap on crit at about the same rate as wicked wind did. Spectral blades procs it a lot as well.

Most of the time the build uses Star Pact, but at 320% overall weapon damage per cast and 560% with arcane dynamo, its still a significant chunk of damage, especially compared to wicked wind

Not sure if this is the right place. But I was running a orb/blizz/arcane hydra build this morning (what I played most of the game with) and arcane hydra has a crazy crit rate. It seemed to be 50% just by watching. I honestly saw yellow numbers from the hydra almost every other hit.
Has anyone tried arcane hydra with CM post patch?
edit; oh my Wizard has a 37% crit chance. I'm sure arcane hydra crits more often than other skills. running cold blooded, galvanizing ward, and temporal flux.

Prodigy + rune on the signature spell that grants AP on hit is how you do it. Throw in Arcane Dynamo and you'll unleash carnage. Didn't stick to it due to low damage pre-patch. I'll definitely try it out again now.

It isnt, i tested yesterday with 38.5% chance and was not viable anymore....
And i felt that the meteors also are not viable... cost is too great, for that to work id need a lot more arcane on crit (currently got only 10 and that was enogh for wind).

I am trying a arcane orb / arcane hydra build with temporal flux and I find it very strong in act III
Arcane Hydra does a lot of crits and I just have 30 crit rate, on elites when I put her on the ground I just need to throw some orb to finish off the pack and I run with 60k dps that is not so imba dps imo
The only doubt is for blood magic rune if it get life steal from the attacks of hydra
I'm reasonably sure Blood Magic and Life Steal in general do not work for the hydra. I've ran around Act 3 a few times lately before and after the patch and my life regen tics never seem to change after I drop a hydra, and I run with 2.7% LS and blood magic. I still like the Blood Magic rune for orb and wand hits.

If you actually check the Known Issues List for patch 1.0.4, you will find this in the Combat section:
"Wizard - Hydra: If you have Life on Hit gear and your Hydra attacks the monster you will get no HP."

Hydra doesn't proc CM or LOH at all either way.
The Arcane Power Regen was lack luster, but frost nova was still coming off cooldown quickly enough to perma freeze.
I swapped out my helm for one with AP on Crit, and only lost a little resist and damage for my trouble, and it feels like the nerf never happeend.
