You know, it make no sense to me that we can supposedly land on the moon but we can't go more then 2 miles under water.. I know alot of you are going to say because of the pressure, but think about it... rockets can stand all that damn heat, what's to say we can't handle a little pressure? I think the whole landing on the moon thing is a sham.
If you're going to argue that we never actually landed on the moon, don't be stupid.
And it's not just a little pressure that many miles below sea. It's a lot. And it's not like the entire rocket is conducting all the heat. Most of the heat is in the exhaust of the rocket.
I'm not really trying to be stupid, it just doesn't make any sense to me that the technology today can't handle the pressure of the sea. It's weird.. all I'm sayin.
You're only being stupid if you're really trying to say the U.S. never landed on the moon. I'm just going to assume you're not trying to argue that.
And maybe it seems weird to you that current technology can't send people to such depths because you hardly understand the technology. I don't understand the technology either. But I certainly didn't think they were not sending people down to those depths because the market demanded it. Ya catch my drift?

PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
The difference between our atmosphere and the vacuum of space is much smaller than the difference in pressures between our atmosphere and deep underwater. The human body can even survive for a minute or so out in space... deep underwater you'd probably be crushed into the size of a bag of skittles

If I were to guess, from a US standpoint, it is probably because NASA receives more funds from the government for research and development rather than deep-sea exploration. I'd have to look it up, though.
And it looks like they're definitely increasing efforts to explore the ocean- right now it appears they're attempting to form an international oceanographic exploration project including cooperation with all the countries of the world, starting with the US (source).
this article talks about a new submersible vehicle to replace the kind that went down to the titanic.. it's supposed to be ready in 2010 or 2011 and be able to go 4 miles down.

the thing that phrozen linked went down to almost 11000 meters (like 6.8 miles) but it broke down there.. and later was retired.

The US DID go on the moon... end of story. Certain observatories possess some powerful lasers that can project light on the moon, these lasers can be used to check if mirror installations on the lunar surface are still in place. I think they were installed during the mission apollo 12. Man some people are funny
About the exploration in the depts of the ocean... I'm all for it. Maybe can we discover new animals, new plants ! This means more stuff to work with in physics, medicine, pharmaceutics ... many more. Haaa can't wait!

If your going to take up a skeptical argument dont be ignorant about the topic. A real skeptic cannot hope to be taken seriously without knowing everything about the topic.
I don't know that much about the theories whether they did or did not land on the moon other than general knowledge so I can't say.
But I know people that don't believe it simply because they choose not to, not because they have real reason to be skeptical.

It's weird, tonight I was watching the news... And they were saying that they found proof that Apollo 11 never landed on the moon.. weird.. maybe 6hrs after I said anything.
BUT I will say I apologize for my ignorance on underwater-exploration <3
When diving underwater....there is a reason why water pressure is measured in PSI. Think of a square inch of water on your back and multiply that square inch by 2 miles of water on you and multiply that by the ounce of water of that square inch that was times by the 2 miles of water. and ya...if you were able to follow that, then you understand. I think it is the same as having a 2 mile long stack of papers on your head.

Rofl. You're kidding right? What news source was this? It'd have to be the most disreputable source ever.
I got this email a while ago with proof that the US didn't actually land on the moon. I personally don't give a shit eve if we found fucking Chewbacca up there.
Deep sea exploration, and space exploration are two enormously different things..When you're 10 miles under water..all that water above you is exerting pressure on you, the water at your sides is, as well. Titanium would crumble under pressure much less than the one found at 10 miles below the water. You are unfamiliar with the conditions, thus you can't comment on it, Mr. OP.

What was that you said about 2 miles?

Let's see:
NASA: $18.7 billion this year (source).
Deep-sea Exploration: Still looking...
Edit: Just looked it up and Titanic is 2.5 miles down and they have been down to it.
