I feel like Diablo 3 maybe too similar to WoW. Evidence for this happenning is the new tool bar at the bottom of the screen. Not that that'd be a bad thing, I just feel that it might dilute the Diablo we've come to know.
But as far as PvP goes: one thing I've always wanted to see is a visible difference between hardened veterans and fresh newbies. I've thought it would be cool for more veteran characters to maybe bare scars and age; to have their weapons chipped and battle-tried. Not weaker, just more aged, more experienced and more intimidating. Also, a feature I've only seen in the Sims and Fable, the ability to workout and be buff. Like WoW and the earlier Diablos, everyone is always well-toned and buff. But what if you started off neutral? If you chose to enjoy hanging in pubs and grow fat as opposed to remaining in top physical condition? I dunno, I just thought that may be an interesting addition, though I am sure Blizzard will make it cool anyhow!
Since Diablo 3 is centered around being a multi player game, there should be certain incentives to get players to interact with one another. Going so far as to make items traded from one character to another stronger or have more sockets or something of that caliber is a bit much but one thing that is important with most any game is making your character unique and distinguishable from other characters. With every trade of an item the item should be able to be altered in appearance so as to make a player's equipment more to their liking. Maybe not on the spot, but with every trade a customizable feature would become unlocked that the player would be able to pay for at the nearest merchant. Features like the color of the item, the shape of the weapon/armor, the material that the item appears to be made of, the style in which the weapon is held or the armor worn, etc. Every little aspect that can be tweaked should be able to especially when players will be interacting with so many other players online.
I would love to see some kind of auction house functionality in-game that is tied together through battle.net. BLizzard, you guys spoiled us with the auction house in World of Warcraft, so I hope you provide some way to implement this in D3.
Secondly, and I know this is a huge unlikely scenario, I would love to see some kind of level editing tools, so that the fan base can make their own dungeons and maps for others to try out. I'm sure there's some kind of scripting language that will be available similar to LUA with WoW, but making full-fledged editors to utilize the power of the API would be outstanding.
Well, certainly some of the issues in D2 will have shown the boys over at Blizzard Irving what NOT to do, but let me suggest a few things that I think would be cool to implement.
Trading- While I've been hearing the idea of an auction or trade house thrown around a lot I'm not sure it really has that Diablo feel. A Marketplace or Bazaar seems more fit to the world of Sanctuary and I think it could be done in the new battle.net. Here's what I imagine: A place where you as a player can place all the items you have available to sell/trade that could be browsable by those looking to buy/trade. It would be a function of battle.net and would allow trading from outside the game as well as inside. Of course you could still trade inside the game person to person, but why not let people look into their inventory and offer items up for trade when inside the chat channels? It doesn't seem like it would be that hard. Maybe if limitations prevented it people could only view items they placed in the bazaar while outside of a game and not their whole inventory. All of this is assuming that the new battle.net will function much like the previous version. There is always the chance that it might work more like Guild Wars or something...
PVP- Obviously the old system is out. Allow players to "flag" themselves and then if another person chooses to to fight them then they may either "flag" or launch their attack. I like the way this works because you have the chance to provoke an attack, picking fights is always fun. I think you should be allowed to "flag" yourself anywhere, but that combat would be unavailable in some areas, such as towns. That being said I would love to see a ladder system for PVPers with a fully supported stat page that could be viewed from a browser. I also think that team based PVP should have some support, such as arena or battleground combat, or maybe even scenarios. PVP does not just have to be about killing the other player in one hit and I think it would be cool if Blizzard chose to explore a few other possibilities for competition. Some examples that comes to mind could be some basic team capture the flag or king of the hill.
Other Thoughts- Clan/Guild support. I don't think it needs to be anything wild, just the ability to join a clan or guild and have their name appear as a part of the character's title and perhaps a visible crest or banner that the character can choose to wear.
My idea/suggestion is to do with trading. Personally the idea isn't very original as it basically involves taking the item link system directly from wow.
I still play Diablo 2 and the one thing that continually frustrates me is that you are basically expected to know the entire item database off by heart as you cannot link items, or inspect people to see what they are wearing, in other words you can only show other people either your gear or what you have to trade by opening trade with someone. The ability to link items in chat, or at least directly to a person through whispers would greatly help. Particularly with the nature of Diablo's items usually having multiple random modifiers that means one Buriza is not as good as another.
So my suggestion is to allow the use of item links, whether through any conversation or through whispers, or any other method.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
I would like to see the return of the Amazon or some type of archer.... Also rare or special items need to be locked to the person that finds them. There needs to be protection against hacking and duplicating items. I really don't like PVP, but maybe if you can choose to it would be ok. Give us unique RARE items too....:thumbsup:
- Auction house, definitely. But not the same one as in WoW. A player receiving an item instantly after paying it's buyout price is something really mechanic. D3 needs something more organic. A player wishing to sell an item will put it up on the auction house and would be able to ask what he wishes to receive in exchange for it ( ex: 15000 gold, or 1 hr and 5000 gold, or a Bartuc) Than a player wishing to buy this item will submit him an offer and if they seller accepts, the item will be reserved for the buyer which will be able to recuperate it the next time he comes to an auction house. I believe such a system would fit D3 much better than the WoW auction house system.
- Linkable items in chat.
- Shared stash between characters of the same account ( like in Guild Wars ) or some kind of system that would allow one character to give items/gold to another one.
- What would be cool is to give mercenaries (if they will be present in D3) an inventory. That way they could hold some of your loot.
- A more advanced direct trading system, so that scammers couldn't trade look-alike items.
- Give gold a value. Gold was useless in D2, it would be nice to see that it could actually be used for something in D3.
- Independent servers for trading, this is also where the auction house will be.
Suggestion for pvp system:
- Be able to duel people.
- Creating a Honor/ranking system, trough which one could obtain titles and trophies. Honor should NOT be used to buy equipment like in WoW, Diablo was always a monster killing game, equipment should be obtained by killing monsters, not trough pvp.
- An arena! although arena sounds too official, I would say combat pit, it would fit the Diablo atmosphere better ( I'll talk about the combat pit in detail in the concept below).
- An advanced Clan/Guild system, more appearant than in D2, perhaps people could even wear something that would show their belonging to the guild, like an insignia on their armor. Not a cape tough...that would be copying Guild Wars.
- CHALLENGES. Diablo was always about slaughtering huge mobs of monsters and fighting epic bosses, so a developed and organized team based pvp system like in WoW would seem akward in D3, especially because there is no healing class. So something more appropriated would be challenges. ex: slay 100 zombies without using a single health orb. Or kill more than 100 monsters under 1 minute. Or fight your way trough a room with a teammate, but you are vulnerable against normal monster and have a damage bonus against bosses and your friend is the opposite.
Other suggestions:
- Keep the hardcore mode, h mode is one of the things that really made D2 unique, it adds a whole new level of suspense and excitement.
- Add more rune words/horadrim cube combinations. It would definitely add to the game.
- Character appearance customization would be nice.
Concept:
When I first read the contest directives it made me think of a cool concept, salvage anything you wish out of it.
There would be independent ''trading servers'', which would look like this. Depending on what he wants, a player could go watch what is going on in the combat pit or go directly to the trading area. There will be an invisible ''chat wall'' which would separate the combat pit and the trading area, so that people in the combat pit would not hear the people trying to trade their items and vice-versa.
In the trading area people will be able to buy things from regular NPC vendors but will also be able to access to the auction house and their stash.
In the combat pit, players would be able to challenge themselves to fight to the death in 1v1, or 2v2, 3v3 and many other modes, these fights could also be initiated with the participants holding bets against each other ( ex: if I win you give me 1000 gold and etc.). Spectators would also be able to place bets on the combatants. This will also be the place where most of the challenges will take place. Think you can beat 100 zombies without using a single health orb...prove it! A stranger could also challenge you and so on... Challenges would be made to be really hard to be spectacular and very rewarding, since a player would obtain titles and trophies ( or other kinds of rewards) by beating these.
The emplacement of the combat pit is strategic since the spawn point is nearby. This is made to increase the number of visitors and to encourage fighting in a combat pit.
Perhaps bring back some of the characters from Diablo 2 in a fashion similar to how blood raven and the summoner seemed to be an evolution of the rogue and sorcerer from the first Diablo; for example perhaps a corrupted assassin.
I would like to see a return of Horazon and Bartuc as more major characters in the series since they are such huge figures in the lore but other than a fake summoner and a quick throw-away boss in Diablo 2.
For trading I would like to see a feedback system based on the cd key or ip address of the person you're trading with. One to keep track of shady dealers and two to help people who want to wheel and deal in game. If you see someone who is honest, their reputation and how they deal with people will be documented.
For pvp I would like to see a small room deathmatch system. Maybe a dedicated room or game type, something with like a 25 killing blows to win type of deal. Maybe with wadgers to be made or as an admition fee to enter the fray. Hit the ground with all your gear on after a death and try and take out as many as possible while you're alive. Team or solo systems would be equally as entertaining in my opinion. Just keep it fast paced and on a small playing field. I would imagine if you were really good at these or created a lot of events you could potentially get a title or some such, like pit master/lord? I just didn't like the flag for pvp system in diablo 2 then get raped as soon as you stepped outside town, then have to do a body run to only die again. I like to see it as; I'm pvping, I'm having fun! I died and have to run back naked, I'm not having fun. I'm dead again without a fight, I'm not having fun.... ect.
There could also be different game types, like in many first person shooters out there. An example could be, an announcer that calls out killing sprees like in unreal tournement or dota. With a player who kills another getting slower with each kill, but maybe he regens hp at a faster rate. Just a few ideas, I'm sure blizzard could run with the idea. I would personally get a great deal of enjoyment of coming up with different ways to slaughter each other. Just another way to make a character that I could pour hours into crawling a dungeon and look like a bad ass and then to go to the right place, at a time of my choosing and proving that I am.
- There needs to be a stable currency. High runes were the main currency in D2 (and earlier on, SoJ's), and it was quite difficult for your everyday player to obtain these items. Gold definately needs a more important role in d3. The game should FORCE the player to embrace gold as the main currency and wealth, rather than items. It should be used for EVERYTHING.
- Keep item tetris! This is one of those little things that you took for granted in diablo 2, but it was one of those things that made the game awesome in its own way.
- Enable players to trade more freely without the need to constantly create games specifically for the purpose of trading. At any one time on diablo 2, 90% of the games infront of you were for trading. Provide an auction place, a market of some kind, that can be accessed no matter what game you are in, be it your first time playing or in the middle of a run of some kind with friends.
- Make some items bind on pickup/equip. It can completely change the way trading works, and will eliminate the age old d2 problem of items being the absolute currency.
Suggestions for PVP
- Team duels need to be encouraged. Diablo 2 PVP was 99% of the time all about 1v1. Team aspects can be very fun.
- Allow duels to take place casually as in diablo 2, or at various battlegrounds/arenas/areas that are specifically designed for PVP.
- Offer rewards and incentives for those who excell at PVP, as well as some kind of ranking system. Some prefer to be top of the ladder, but some may want to be the best player killer out there.
- Allow game creators to choose the way PVP works in their particular game, ie: both parties must consent to a duel before it can commence, or players can become hostile with anyone they want, whenever they want. This eliminates the problems caused with ganking, but also gives players the option to live life on the edge.
- Allow PVP to be possible in hardcore, if there is hardcore, without players dying permenantly, eg: have a player automatically surrender when they reach 1hp. Because hardcore players might like to duel too.
- Official PVP tournaments, with titles/rewards given to the top players in their field.
As far as PvP features go, I'd like to see some more use put into the "ear" system. A means to have them on record on a profile page or something would be nice, as it is in Diablo 2 you're pretty much limited to having them show up in your inventory where, lets face it, it means absolutely nothing to anyone but you.
As for trading? Being able to trade through Battle.net, especially while offline such as an Auction House system. I'm sure that has been said somewhere in the other 250 posts behind me, but if not...well shame on you all for not wanting it =P
Hello, my suggestion would be to have less harsh consiquences when you die in hardcore more. I think what should happen when you die, you should lose all your items equipped and respawn in town, and the PKer (if any) has the option to loot your corpse of all the items. Your corpse would have a despawn timer of say.. 5 minutes. So if you could not make it to your corpse in 5 minutes, it despawns, or the PKer takes the items they wish. This may stunt your gear, but at least you don't lose all the time you spent on your character.
Also Assassins or the sort PKing at Waypoints or Town Portals, I remember how much time I spent on my 96 barb to be PKed from traps set on my Portal by an Assassin eager for gear. I think there should maybe be a safe zone around the Portal for 5-10 seconds after exiting back to where you made it. That and make Waypoints completely shield you of magical or trap damage for 5-10 seconds from entry.
As far as trading goes i still like the trade menu. Maybe a auction house would be nice to, But it would be cool if u had chat channels u could go into while ur in a game and trade.. Still gotta have the trade channel or diablo wont have the same feel. U also have to do something about people who make games just to promote a trade... it is very affective in the game but, when ur in hell and alls u see is trade games wats the purpose of playing any more.... Its just very boring and u see people who make priv channels who promote bots to lvl up chars. Id add a auction house, Seperate chat channels u could go into while ur still in the game.
Now about Pvp... pvp should be aloud any where in the world kinda like how diablo2 is. But u should just throw some percs in their like adding a arena team. Sentse a new game is comming out and their wont be any of theis clan boters, it will be good for them newbs to finnally go do something with their clan. Like a 5vs5 or something.. Also id add in a something for voice chat... maybe work with ventrilo or another company. Alot can be done with diablo pvp, U can add achievments on pvp kills to get uber pvp gear if u wanted. I know some of this sounds like ideas from wow but they are very good basic ideas to improve the game alot. Their should be a battle grounds for pvp and u should be able to do it where ever u want in game. The battle grounds should just be for people who really wana spend time to get the godly pvp gear. Sentse wirt has been in the original and diablo2 u should make him the battle grounds gear vendor. He always had obnoctious prices for his gear so make that gear worth while
other thoughts... Id like to see not as many games being made and it being a big server like wow. Blizzard had alot of problems back in the day when dupers where spammen games duping. Causing alot of lag.
Bosses Shouldn't drop rares. Their shouldn't be any rares, just magics and uniques items. Dont wana add to much diversity in item trading.. I think that would help on The trade system of what some items are worth.
i would like to see the book spells come again, but only certain 1 for certain heros drop at times.. Such as a uber skill u get from killen a bad ass boss. I know diablo is saposted to be a short game that is very repatative but their are things u've guys tried in the past like ubers for torches... Try adding more of that into game play. Not just 2 special avent like ubers and d clone.
id get rid of the ladder and just make it for like pvp players. If u want pvp gear then their will be seasons where blizzard puts out new pvp gear.
other ideas add a guy in a town that is higher lvl who does char custimization Like if u want ur barb to have a Kick ass beard or go T. maybe some tatoes on his face like mike tyson lol.
Id also like to see more group work. Like for killing a boss like andy it should kinda be like a boss in wow who drops good drops, and certain gear. I know diablo is a co-op game and u can solo stuff by ur self but why??? make it more player friendly and incurrage group work with something like raids for bosses like andy. I think adding battle group games and raids into diablo3 will help players becoming more friendly and want to play as a group more.
Their our 2 more subjects id like to talk about... 1 is adding inspect of other players to the game. Its always fun to see what bad ass gear u can get if u work for it. Now my other subject is quite different. Id like to see something done with the map. Instead of people trying to download map hacks u should just kinda make it like wow. 1s u've been some where on that char it should remain visable. Will keep alot of players happy and less bans from people who are usen map hack. Equals u have more people playing ur game.
but yea thats all ill say i got more ideas but where not gona go into that. Blizz should just give me a job lol.
I have been a online d2 playa since early 1.10, and made it to the top levels of Pvp; the best thing about D2, for me, was the intense funpk and clan officals.
PvP
-Lets face it it, after you beat the story a couple of times, the thing that kept people playing was the desire to be dominant in PvP, this desire it what fueled all those countless baal runs/ mf runs/ trade games and g rushes. PvP is wat kept D2 alive for all these years and i hope blizzard can recapture
-I think the large skill/gear gap made PvP so great in D2, there was someone always better than you and you really had to work hard and practice to win pvp. I DONT think BLizzard should decrease this skill gap; i think if blizzard caters for the 'casual' gamer to much the pvp will be ultimatley empty and unsatisfying. The fact that it was hard to dominate a 'pub pk' is what made it so rewarding.
-Perhaps a Pk areana which betting/spectacting/clan options are available could be used to cater for competive Pvpers, whilst a 'Pot luck' areana could be set up for casual player parties which could randomly select a gametype like 'face waves of monsters', or 'first person to kill 30 monsters', etc.
-There should be still some skill required to PvP, (like name and chainlocking in D2).
-Clan features for players who have finished the story mode or something.
I really loved finding shrines in Diablo 2. I would love to see Shrines continue to be a part of the Diablo experience.
Some generic suggestions
Shrines which buff the player should buff the party too.
Some Shrines should be trapped.
Shrines should attract attention visually, special effects, and animations would be cool.
Types of shrines I would like to see again
Monster Shrines
Gem Shrines
Experience Shrines
Mana Regen Shrines
Battle Shrines
New Types of Shrines I would Like to see
A shrine, that when enacted gave you a temporary "Holy Protector" similar to the Amazon's Valkyrie
A shrine that teleports you to a random area on the map
A shrine pulses an Area Effect damage effect against undead for a period of time after touching it.
Be creative. Shrines are a great way to randomize game play and I liked them alot in Diablo 2.
If you guys(Diablo III team) could make some items unable to trade like i have seen on World of Warcraft, the BoP and BoE system, would fit nice in Diablo III. Diablo II items were not so rare in some cases, like in Diablo II softcore mode i would see many games that were hosted names like FREEEEE, free4u, or like Free Here. It made the game felt a bit easy and less of a challenge, that killed the game. Also gold was a bit less rewarding in Diablo II. If you can, make gold worth collecting and more rewarding, like being able to buy many cool and useful gadgets or like being able to use gold for travel or have a bank system so there would be less players creating mule characters. Charge players to use the ship from Lut Gholein and Kurast.
Charge them ALOT!
But thats not a bad idea to charge players to travel form a ship or a caravan because it would stop low levels getting rushes. This would make low levels go in caves or dungeons just for treasure and gold so they would be able to travel. Just saying make gold worth GOLD!
-No one went in those caves from Diablo II for gold:O
This would essentially mean a server (much like a Hardcore server) dedicated for people who wish to work for their gear versus trading for them or getting them for free or buying them from online item shops (which will undoubtedly pop like mushrooms after rain with D3 launching). Basically, this game mode would restrict items dropped by certain bosses or of certain rarity level to be traded freely (this includes restricting players from dropping items or picking up items dropped by another player), much like the binding system as seen in WoW. This grants several perks, but mostly impacts the game in terms of being more competitive and preserving the integrity of the economy (given that crafted items and items of lower level of rarity would be allowed for trade). The single most important part of D2 was the loot, but it mattered very little - you can have a Stormlash, Tyreal's Might and Scheafer's Hammer and no one really cares because you could have gotten it anywhere (read: item shops). I can farm for my items for years and it makes me no different on the progress scale than the next guy who purchased them all from an online item shop within a minute. That makes items have no worth and kills any competitiveness the game should potentially be all about. This is the single most important thing that makes WoW so appealing to people and renders D2 an absolutely fine waste of time and nerves. A separate server should straighten this injustice up for people who wish to compete and earn their items without ruining the experience for people who like to 'trade'.
2. Endgame content:
Instead of making two bosses that you kill 1000 times a day hoping for an item with 0.001% rate to drop - how about providing a greater variety of more challenging bosses with more fixed loot tables. I'd rather travel 16 levels underground, killing four challenging mini-bosses on the way and then facing a boss which requires skill to kill (rather than the ability to click your mouse 230 times per minute), and then be rewarded with more certain valuable drops. Less attempts with less succession rate, and more challenge and time needed, with a greater chance to drop of a smaller variety of unique items versus trivial and generic boss fights which only reward you after thousands of times with a completely random drop. More skill requirement and less luck and randomness, in short. Also, instead of choosing between either Andariel or Mephisto (as the only endgame content in D2) because I can kill one of them more easily than the other with my build, I'd rather choose which boss to engage by comparing the loot tables - and I am hoping for a two digit number of bosses to choose from.
3. Itemization:
Aside for the fact that D2's trading system was flawed in its foundation, an important problem was the fact that certain unified items turned out to simply make a better combination for any class, than item sets which were tailored for each class specifically. Big mistake. As an assassin, the most powerful assassin set, Natalya's Odium, should be the most sufficient and desirable thing for me. If every single class wants their 'Shako & Nigma', that makes trading pretty dull, as everyone potentially wants the same thing. What I would like to see in D3, are items that are perhaps useful to several classes, but most useful to one class it was tuned for. That way a WD with a helmet that is mainly tailored for Barbarians will trade it for certain shoulderpads that grant a boost to the poison damage skills which is useless to a Barbarian. Those two guys will have something to trade. No one is going anywhere if every class ends up wanting same couple of items that are standardly also the most valuable ones.
Another thing is that D2 allowed people to finish the entire game, and reach level 85 in merely two days. Aside for being a very lame concept to begin with, it also makes all mid-level gear obsolete. If I am going to stick between level 30-40 in at least a while in D3, I may require certain low level uniques which makes them a trading good, which they weren't in D2.
Lastly, it would be cute to see some D1 items returning. 4. Learning skills:
I have no doubt that Diablo 3 will boast the most perfect possible skill system. I would still have a tiny suggestion which may or may not be accounted, but since it was never mentioned before, here it is. The first Diablo game hadn't any skill trees or anything of that sort. Skills were learned solely through reading books. Perhaps it would be an interesting concept to have a couple of unique spells that could be learned from reading a book. This book would have to be an extremely rare drop or perhaps even a quest reward, or both. It would mean that all classes could potentially learn these skills, so caution must be made if this practice was to be put to use once again, and those skills must be designed in such way to prevent overlapping with unique skills that make other classes essential to cooperative play.
5. Gold:
Please cut off at least two digits from the amounts. I'd rather have 150 pieces of gold which are worth something, than 150 000 000 that aren't. Lesser values have a better 'feel' of actual worth. Not much different from the real-world situation, I guess!
As was evident at Blizzcon, everyone is going to be comparing Diablo to WoW throughout this whole process -- both at this point of development and throughout the completed game. The good news is that the numbers don't lie -- people like WoW. Thus, we should see some of the same PVP elements that make PVP rewarding in WoW, but Diabloized (?!).
I suggest an evolving character animations with PVP. Instead of purchased armor and weapons as rewards (though those would be impressive), varied cosmetic enhancements made available through PVP exploits would be nice. For example an accomplished killer could earn light auras of pulsing, threatening crimson, new audio (battle cries or sound effects) on critical strikes, or shadowy trails that follow characters. One could also alter spell animation effects to reflect PVP accomplishment -- such as a flash of red around the strike animation on a sword swing, or threads of black electricity dancing around a lightning bolt cast upon an enemy.
This would prevent the separation of PVP gear (as a reward) versus PVE gear, while still giving PVPers a visual representation of their prowess.
1) To limit item inflation in the economy items should be character or account bound when equiped on the character. This doesn't have to apply to all items. Maybe just uniques, legendary, and crafted.
2) A mail order system should be in place to allow for an easy transfer of items. Either with friends or other characters.
3) Account based stash. No more making a game, wait 5 minutes, and then log onto the other character to transfer items.
4) Regular ingame trading should remain with an option to trade when u click on another character. A trade window opens. People can view what each other person is putting in the trade window but won't have access to it until both people hit accept.
PVP
1) Individual, ranking based on kills in a PVP area or arena. Otherwise, it's just ganking or griefing. Higher ranks have it displayed by a number where their name is or an aura. User should have the ability to change whether or not the PVP title or aura can be displayed.
2) Team based, this should be in a PVP area and there could be different types that people can choose from. 4vs4 or 8vs8 or maybe 16 vs 16, and this can be time-based or capture the flag. Time-based is the team that has the most kills in 5 minutes wins. Capture the flag is when one team raids anothers area to steal their flag. This could be a best-out-of-3 situation or time-based, and the group that stole the flag more wins. There could be ranking based on guilds or a separate ranking system for non-guilds.
3) Individual and Team based PVP will be reflected in a ladder.
4) Tournament style PVP for teams.
5) PVP meeting, this could occur by joining a specified chat channel of the PVP type and join a group that is waiting. Groups can be locked or passworded; so you would need to know the password to join the group. Or, they can be open. The other method is there can be set instances where people meet and then the group leader hits a 'Enter PVP' button / selection to go into the PVP instance.

Nuff Said@@!!!!!

I would like to see a return of Horazon and Bartuc as more major characters in the series since they are such huge figures in the lore but other than a fake summoner and a quick throw-away boss in Diablo 2.
As for trading? Being able to trade through Battle.net, especially while offline such as an Auction House system. I'm sure that has been said somewhere in the other 250 posts behind me, but if not...well shame on you all for not wanting it =P

Trading
-Auction house/Gold as currency.
