No, Diablo 3 is Diablo 3. Just because it did not meet your expectations it does not mean that Diablo 3 is not the successor of Diablo 2.

    it is not :/

Already played it, it's so linear and awful. There's also zero combat depth. Your skills are based on gems you socket into items, and so you pretty much end up spamming the same skills over and over, like Diablo 2. Even more frustrating when you find a great item... but the socket is the wrong color for the gem of the skill you've been using (or any gems you have/want to use). Imagine if Diablo 3 items had separate sockets for amethysts, topaz, rubies, and emeralds.

The story is that you are literally going up a path, and you're an exile. SPOILERS OMAGAHD

the guy who made the video is so boring, i can't really if he bores me, or the game bores me, anyway, i got bored.
also, that skill tree is not a good thing. way too much skills, most people won't read everything, so you are just overcomplicating the game, you don't need that many skills to have diversity, look at ragnarok online, the wizzard, a loooot of diversity there, but not a thousand skills

Just spent 3 hours in PoE... got bored after 20 minutes. Kept playing hoping it would get exciting...

The game appears to have a lot of depth, but the gameplay is terribly boring.

well, path of exile is gonna be a Free-to-play ARPG, and for that it well worth it (imho).

However, Torchlight 2 looks pretty promising as well :

I've played the first part yesterday (which came for free on steam with the preorder of torchlight 2),
and even the first part looks friggen amazing to be honest...

Cant wait for this two games to be released...

only look unfortunatly. It gets boring very very quickly as the customisation is very much limited (yes the talent tree almost does not bring anything interesting.

ofc... the skilltree are only passive skills....
the Skills you are actually using come via Gems.

I dont know man, i just look at it... and i kinda like it.
Also the Idea of "not" having currency which cause a hell lot of drama all the time...

I just check it out on the weekend :)

PoE definitely doesn't have the same initial hooks as Diablo 3. Also, the game's complexity is built on skills and items, many of which you get over time. The start of the game is very bland because you will probably be using your regular melee attack or a single skill most of the time, and you will have no passives or anything to really differentiate you.

However, when you do get some time into your character, I find it's pretty fun. The story is bad, the graphics look kind of plasticy, and the game takes a while to get into. However, I found once I got past the initial part of the game and got my character up and running it was actually pretty fun.

It's actually in stark contrast with D3 which is really engaging early on, story is good, graphics are very well done, but once you get to the end-game D3 really loses a lot of it's charm due to no real progression and very steep difficulty tuning coupled with intensely low drop rates.

PoE has some interesting end-game ideas, end game maps are variable difficulty, you know what you're getting into before you go into it, they're kind of dynamic in that bonuses on end-game maps vary, and from what I see cooperation is generally encouraged rather than heartily discouraged.

I was very disinterested in PoE the first few hours I put into it, but by the time I got to maybe level 15 or something I started to actually enjoy it a bit more. Lack of story or engaging environments stopped bothering me when I ended up comparing it to D3, moving through uninteresting environments to progress and differentiate my character in PoE was still more fun than moving through uninteresting and repetitive environments for the miniscule chance of finding an item that might be an upgrade for some other player that I could sell for a fraction of the cost of an upgrade for myself in Diablo.

I played PoE and i was plesantly suprised. It's a really good game and I'm probably going back there if Diablo III dosnt do anything that keeps me here. I can just compare it too d2 considering they are so alike. But better. Better grafics and the lovley dark style it had. The passive tree is massive at start and yes you get quite... suprised when you first see it. But thats not a bad thing, not in my book anyways. The gem / skill thing is also a awsome thing considering you can go a rogue-ninja-wizard-barbarian-necromancer if that what you want.

The music is great, like he said in the vid Its kinda a rip of from diablo 2 ( like almost everything is.) but i dont see that as a bad thing considering it was awsome in d2 why wouldnt it be in PoE?

Well i can higly recommend this game if you have killed diablo in inferno and think Its geting tiresom to kill easy elites that dies when you look at them. I'm not sure about the higher levels or how hard it is. So if you want a game thats like diablo 2/3 and your tired of this non-endgame game this is your choise.

But not to sound like a hater against d3 i loved it. I've played 230 hours total and i dont know many games that I've played that long for that kind of money you bought it for. I've even made my money back and then some on RMAH. So i can't whine but i dont see why i should stay here when there is nothing for me at this moment.

Sooooooo if your bored with d3 go and play PoE and try It atleast.

    Regards Xpire.

Actually you can reassign the Sockets...
If you got an Item with a Red/Blue Socket, you can gamble for new ones until you got the Colors you want.

I am currently playing the Stresstest...and damn...that Game rocks.
If you got some spare time on your Weekend, download the client and try it out.. its free.

First 5 Levels are somewhat boring, but after that...hell yeah^^

Playing a (currently) Level 13 Ranger.... with Multishot etc...its friggen awsome :)

Now, here is what I don't get, why do people expect diablo to have endgame like an mmo? I thought diablo was like any other rpg game where you play finish the story and that's it, and you can return whenever to play again. tbh, I am surprised that blizzard is releasing "endgame" and pvp. usually companies will charge you for such DLC.

Not end game "like an MMO", but enough to keep players interested. Blizz wouldn't describe this game as "finish the story and that's it, and you can return whenever to play again" as you do. They have said many times that they expect this game to have longevity, and so do its players.
