I wanted to give people a heads up that Blizzard has stated that Diablo 3 will not support Catalyst 12.4, the most recent video drivers for AMD Radeon video cards. source
If you have updated to this version, you will need to revert to Catalyst 12.3, or hope that AMD fixes their driver issues within the next 2 weeks.

*Edit before the trolls* by 2.4 in the topic, I meant 12.4 --- Been reading to many post referencing Diablo 2.
I have version 2012.0405.2205.37728 So I'm assuming this is the version you are talking about. do you know why they aren't compatible, or what happens when you try to run with this version?
Edit: I just looked at the source and I have to just ask WTF? Why on earth would they support an old driver, but not the latest and greatest? I think he must've said something wrong there's no way blizzard wouldn't support the latest driver, unless there's some major ass problems with it in which I hope AMD fixes before the release so I can play.

Hmm I tried launching the beta it says driver not compatible and ejects me. So 12.3 here we go
After clicking PLAY on the launcher for the beta, it simply states something to the effect of "Your video driver is not supported." Go to Jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
I reverted to 12.3, and don't have that problem. Easy fix, no need to rage. AMD better hotfix 2.4 or come out with 2.5, because come May 15th, they're going to have some angry customers.
Wait wait wait, let's get this straight first. How does it really work? I thought GPU companies design their drivers around games, not the other way around? Or is it a team work type thing?

They work around each other. Specifically...There are things that ATI can fix - and there are things that the devs HAVE to fix.
There is a huge explanation about it floating somewhere around the interwebs.

This.
Well imo the laucher just do a check on your drivers, if you are in the list you're in if you aren't in the list you're out. Its probably just that stupid and if you can bypass that the game may be working fine but so far the game would just rejects you.
Pretty Happy Im switching over to nvidia this week, Amd's driver problems were endless.
I like Nvidia a lot, but I don't like that you need a 15 megawatt substation in your back yard to power up the cards, and cooling fans out the ass to keep them from melting your case.
Maybe this issue won't be there with the release client? I dunno. Nevermind, didn't see the Blizz post.

i didn't expect them to have good drivers for the desktop, since i downgraded my laptop from GTX 560m to HD6470m because their mobile drivers gave me hell (or inferno :P)
but i do remember not having any problems with my 7800gt years ago so i give them that.
on-topic: i think it is blizzard's fault even if the new driver cause some issues with the game they shouldn't block it. maybe tell the player that this version isn't supported and might cause issues and advise him to switch to an earlier version but going further than that will annoy the player than help him.
for ex: imagine if you have D3 and another game where D3 blocks 12.4 and the other game works best on 12.4)

My Nuclear substation out the back for my 6990 thinks otherwise.
Other than that the new 680's use hardly anything.
This is going to Technical Support.
But thanks a lot for the warning! I upgraded to 12.4 just the other day, Beta had already ended. Tried it myself and it didn't launch.

I've used 11.1 since it came out. I haven't ever had a single problem...Like...EVER.
