Ok, so i'm now moving into the gear levels where Torment 1 is a joke (I just run around, collect 3+ elite packs then kill them in 3 - 4 hits) so i'm wondering is it worth ramping up the difficulty which would naturally decrease the speed in which I clear bounties or is it better just to roflstomp T1? We're talking strictly loot here, I don't care about XP.
Do you gain more from the cache at the end in higher torments?
Yes. You WILL acquire more legendaries over time compared to doingi t on lower torments. (If you would get 10 on T1, you would get 12 in T2, 14 in T3, ect)
So whenever you feel comfortable, just up the difficulty until you aren't downing things as fast as you want.
Getting them on T1 and opening on T6 used to work veeeery early in the beta, but then people started getting caches on Normal and opening them on T6. So now the rewards are tied to the difficulty you get them.
And bear with me here, but in general, the idea remains pretty much the same as in D3V - ideally you wanna play on the difficulty that you are almost one-shotting everything.
If that's T2 for you, awesome, because exclusive legendaries and higher drop ratio (for legs/sets) should pay off in the long run, as long as you're not taking 2 minutes to kill each elite (should be taking between5-15 seconds).

ah, ty :D. Well apart from certain annoying packs, most elites take around 5 seconds on t2 so yeah i'll stick to that
Nope, barb. I don't get why people are saying there weak as I feel insanely strong right now, got revenge which basically makes me immortal and my Hota is critting 12mln 60 - 80% crit chance and that's without wotb if I pop that everything just dies instantly XD
trying to roll +20% fire dmg on my bracers atm to do even more insane dmg but after about 25 attempts still nothing got every other element but fire,http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/fitsu-2502/hero/125749 this is me atm although reforges don't show sadly =/
My wizard has 6 mil toughness and is still getting rocked on T1. However, I think I can fix that by finding some good items to complement my lack of mitigation.
I will say that I started leveling on T2, but I noticed that the number of drops decreased notably once I started to get into T1 and Master.

You are so incredibly wrong it's not even funny, and I call 100% bullshit on that example.

Despite the probably entirely fictitious numbers, he's probably right. Assuming that by increasing the torment level kill speed remains more or less the same; then the law of averages kicks in and you should see more legendaries.
I'd love to see anyone clear T6 at the rate you can clear T1, what kind of stupid reasoning is that? If you could clear T6 as fast as T1, then there'd be no reason for T1, the entire point is it's taking 15 minutes to kill an elite pack, or 15 minutes to clear the map. Which one supposedly gives you more legs? Neither really, RNG is a bitch, but you'd expect the T1 to give more due to sheer volume.
"Assuming that by increasing the torment level kill speed remains more or less the same;" please, please, PLEASE show me an example where you have the same kill time on an elite pack at T1 and T6, I'm dying to know where this magical beast spawns so I can farm it.
I would say as long as you can clear it efficiently and in a timely manner, then by all means go ahead and do it. I would say if you're spending way too much time killing an elite pack, I would tone it down one difficulty and try it again. The faster and quicker you can do it, the better. So if you can do T2 quickly, then by all means, go ahead and do it. If it takes you 20min to clear T1 bounties and Rifts, but 2 hours on T2, it's probably better to do it on T1.

U mad ? Who the hell said anything about T6 ????? OP is asking for going from T1 to T2...
And kill speed can be the same between two different tier. Say if you have a gear good enough to pretty much one shot everything on T3, you'll do the same on T1. Kill speed will ne nearly the same.
To OP of you really clear T1 that easily jump to at least T2 and see how you are doing. Being in a higher tier will always be more rewarding if it doesn't dramaticaly reduce your kill speed. You'll have a bit more loot and more XP wich both will make your char strengh grow faster than the tier under.
The word coming out is legionaries drop on a set timer. So does it really matter pushing torment levels?
False. My clan mates and I constantly are getting 1-2 drops within minutes, and then 1 drop every 1.5 hours. It varies by a huge margin.
The 'timer' is a very, very rare backup system. If the game detects you haven't gotten a legendary drop for some huge amount of killing 'in-combat' time, such as 6+ hours, then the system will very gradually up your personal drop chance. When you finally get a drop it resets.
The point I'm making though is it doesn't even kick in for those 6-8 hours or more (since Blizz won't specify directly). There is no set timer for everyone, just this very rare backup system for those extreme cases of bad luck.

Take a step back and think about it. People were one shotting mobs in t4 just a week ago. Is it impossible to think t4 RoS will be the same in six months?
If you can handle the content, then play higher torment, it's worth it because you get more shit more often (says Blizz and says the slider for Torment)

Because I (and it seems many others) are both interested in the answer and retarded when it comes to using the search option
Assuming loot is your goal, you should not do any content that you cannot 3-4 hit while itemizing/skilling for movement speed. The current game design does not incentivize moving to the higher difficulties, due to actually reducing the amount of rewards you receive per damage you deal. Yes, keeping the number of monsters slain the same you get slightly more legendaries going from T1 to T2, but you will have dealt twice as much damage and probably had to itemize/skill more towards tank/healing and less towards dmg/moveSpeed meaning it probably took you around twice as long to get slightly more rewards (the penalty to your dmg/moveSpeed is offset somewhat by having less travel time).
Clearing more easy content faster also increases the number of shrines/pylons/powerOrbs/poolsOfReflection you get per unit time, further incentivizing easier over harder content.
For you in particular, you said, "Most elites take around 5 seconds". In this case you are probably where you should be (dropping down might be better, but it wouldn't make a huge difference) assuming you are maxing out your movement speed options in your gear/skill/paragon choices and that your objective is gear.

The timer is a backup system in case you get a bad RNG streak. It will gradually push RNG in your favor. So yes, upping T levels does matter.

First one came at 2:04pm
Second one came at 4:02pm.
I'm happy to hear people have found multiple legend drops within an hours time.
I really hope this isnt TF2 hat drop mechanics.
