Are you going back to the mode where you try super hard to bash everything?
I want that legendary. Sooooo often I just want to teleport but can't because there is this annoying monster bugging me. Kill it, start teleport, at 85% another stupid Succubus hits me from off the screen. And so on. Keep that legendary in your inventory, and in case you want to TP out, just swap it. Also helps a lot if you lost your group in a run with other people and want to TP out, for example if you have found an elite pack and you don't just want to kill it alone or kite it until the other TP'ed to you.
It's not the first time you hate a legendary that I really like, maybe we should play together and you give me that stuff.
got something like this on a belt: "Haunt is cast on 5 nearby enemies when you open a chest".
how many times do you open a chest mid-fight? and how many chests are there really.
With that thing you can cross the Core of Arreat almost without being touched by enemies, because despite the fact that it's a small area there are always plenty of chests.
I don't have that item, just trying to highlight that someone might use it. I have to admit though that I misread (misunderstood) "haunt" in this example. Yeah, in that case I'm not sure what the use is, I thought it would be more of a fear effect, no idea why I thought it would be like that.
/care as repair costs are negligible nowadays anyway... maybe one day when they introduce ethereal items
And yeah that Haunt on chest open is useless too. I know you can, like Bagstone, make some kind of argument in favor of each property, but in general they're just shit and you wouldn't ever use the item because of it, unless it was an upgrade anyway.
Yeah, I misunderstood what Haunt means here, it sounds indeed pretty useless.
The no-repair shoulders are absolutely awesome though, I love them. Wearing them all the time.
Interesting responses, some players here behave exactly the opposite players behave in the official forusm, both extremes are bad people.
This thread is about legendary special affixes that are... at least, sub-par compared with others without any doubt.
My Monk has an affix that every globe you pick, 380% weapon damage for everyone, it is fucking amazing.
However, the other one I quoted, is garbage, come on. If you are in a fucked up situation, taking only half of the damage for... 5 seconds, wont save you.
Now, if you say, that the channeling time of your TP is reduced to 1 second, ok, that is then useful. I wouldn't probably use it but I can see that for HC players is actually a nice escape.
If you're in a fucked up situation, why are you teleporting? Such stupid, much wow
the phrase fucked up situation can mean a whole number of things.....and the definition of the word changes if you can estimate a teleport to town on the spot rather than running all the way back to a waypoint.
Thing is an absolute treasure compared to the stupid as fuck Slorak's madness....I cant believe they let that item into the game.....

Haunt is a spell, for the witch doc, just letting you know bud.
I play WD and found the belt that casts 5 haunts to nearby enemies, I use it not only because of that affix, but it was an upgrade to my old belt, and yes there is a way to use it effective. First you become much more aware of your surrounding, (this helps spotting armor racks for white items- i used to miss em all the time). Also it doesn't just cast on chests, it casts when you loot dead bodies laying on the ground, armor racks, chests, those loose stones on the ground (in the crypts), and a couple of others im forgetting.
Anyway, before engaging in a fight with a mob or an elite pack i scan the area i'm in, and pick out the easiest route to the chest or dead body. Maybe i'll spirit walk to it. Im not sure how Haunt it picks its targets, I think just the closest enemies to said chest, but sometimes i think it goes straight for the elite. And haunt is a pretty good DOT skill. 1450% (or so) damage over 5 seconds. Thats a lot of damage that is just free.
It would be cool to see like a Barb using "Leap" , (and no, you don't jump up for joy when u use leap, leap is a skill, u jump and then crush some enemy's face, its an awesome skill) jumping around the area/room you are in opening/clicking on objects and casting haunt. ITS FREE DAMAGE, WHY NOT.
Basically this affix is NOT useless, and i am very glad I found it.
Bagstone, I was exaggerating there with the Leap, just messing with ya. It is pretty damn funny that you thought Haunt was when you run around an area scaring monsters. hahahahahahahaha
The belt haunt is just a fear though, it doesn't do damage.
On a side note, it procs off looting bodies/corpses/whatever as well, so there's a lot more opportunities for procs than you'd think. It's also decent for pointing out the next pack of mobs in places like Act 3, where walls can hide them a bit. Great in Act overall actually, lots of lootable bodies and chests everywhere, used it a ton on my DH.

It actually does do damage. I just tested it out. And then I equipped Haunt as one of my skills I use and put the slow rune on (60% slow for 6 secs, i think it is) and that also works. So now when i loot a dead body or open a chest, 5 enemies take 1465% weapon damage over 6 seconds and they are slowed by 60%. Its very nice.
And I was also in act 3 keep depths, and there were like 15-20 enemies around me when i opened a chest, the Haunt picked the 5 more dangerous/tougher enemies (the guys who drag their axe behind em on the ground) over the weaker enemies (quill backs or the licker guys).

Like I said in my first response on this topic, I don't find it useless. But its not a game changer either. So I would easily trade in for something with better stats.Slorak's Madness on the other hand, and the Pig Sticker, is just not legendary material. And there are to much stuff that is classified as legendary, that simply is not.
But some of it also depends on how you play the game. Someone mentioned "All your items are indestructible" shoulders. Completely useless to HC players. And as far as I know, we can't reroll these affixes in RoS?
I look forward to be able to reroll the "don't suffer damage" affix.
And as Bagstone said in a reply to my Chaingmail question:"After earning a survival bonus, quickly heal to full Life"...He said It will heal you mid combat, if you get under 10% life. No offence bagstone, but I think you are wrong. And that was a bit of topic.
Point is, you are right. Some of these affixes are utter garbage. And it should be different affixes for the two modes, HC/SC. Some are usefull in one mode, and useless in the other.
Sorry, lot of edits. Seems like my space key isn't working. Or maybe a bug
I still think that the Slorak's Madness is pretty useless. "This wand finds your death humorous." Funny the first time, then after that it's no good.
Some legendaries uniqueness isn't the orange text. That wand is fantastic because it offers 20% + disintegrate damage. Same with pig sticker. Squeal is obviously useless, but the huge damage boost to beasts and humanoid is very helpful.

It says "chest" but it also includes dead bodies or anything that you can click open and stuff falls out off. Also it's rather powerful. I think it's a cool / fun mechanic. (:

"when you TP your channeling is uninterrupted and you take 53% less damage".
Can anyone beat it?.

I would agree that the 'open chest' triggered effects seem a bit useless a lot of the time though.

"squeal" I'm trying that dagger, it's a good dagger, the squeal is completely useless, but funny
