Day just mentioned the new Tal Rash'a set ideas they're working on. One was whatever element you damage with has a chance to proc the corresponding elemental meteor spell.

That idea was pretty badass, I'd love an updated Tal Rasha set for that, :-D
Wasn't too thrilled that Travis Day kept saying Demon Hunters can't use 1-handed swords...especially when I've put 1-handed melee weapons on my Demon Hunter to play with, so...really not sure where's coming up with that. Just makes me want to get one so I can send him a pic.
Seems like one of the ideas for the new legendary is some kinda proc that stores up skulls that shoot out. Eh...not really too excited about that.
We had that affix datamined before, now we can give it context. ^^
OT i did suggest an affix that would really change gameplay:
Your hatred runs so deep that your crit damage now applies to your normal hits at a 50% rate but it no longer affects your criticals.
Would have to be balanced ofc but the idea is that you could ignore crit chance and gear with other affixs instead.
I also suggested something with the banner, like when you use the banner everyone gets an aura for a bit, banner is useless atm...

I couldn't believe none of them mentioned a corpse-explosion effect that damaged nearby monsters. It is so powerfully nostalgic and embodies hatred so well, and the graphic is in game.
"Focuses the hatred of slain monsters, damaging nearby enemies. The range is increased by items that with pickup radius."

They spent WAY too much time on that skull idea. Hated it.

This is COMPLETELY off the wall, but *personally* I'm hoping they changed DH's to not be allowed to use 1 handed swords (and I believe other melee weapons, can't remember) because they want to eventually add in an actual assassin class. Hey I can hope damn it.

I wouldn't want them to take that out. MY DH is using a mace and a shield at the moment because he's a grenade DH and it's a lot of fun and I wouldn't want my build to be taken away.

If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask
And here it is: Damaging enemies with Arcane, Cold, Fire or Lightning will cause a Meteor of the same damage type to fall from the sky. There is an 8 second cooldown for each damage type.

How is that related to Mephisto at all? Sound cool though.
That's the new tal rasha set bonus

i think an interesting affix would have been one that did something like:
absorb desecrator pools increasing your damage x% stacking 5 times.
"release the hatred boiling inside you"
taking something that is usually avoided and empowering you character with it seems a lot more game changing that shooting skulls...this was something i wish they discussed a little more.
Hi, sorry for bad English (french inside).
I like the idea of charming enemies, but like they say making buddies don't look like the lord of hate.....
So what if we enslave them and the longer they are enslave the more they do/take damage (accumulate hate) but only other monster can hurt them. and if they don't die, then they brake free, go berserk , turn into an elite and charge you pushing everyone on his way (ally/foe) focusing only on you.
Don't forget he was bind to your will, but now he's free and the only thing he want is Kill you! so to show this he became immune to crowd control but take damage instead. whatever mean you use to slow / bind / push him , he don't care even if he have to tear his fresh apart to get to you he will!
what do you guys think ? any idea to improve this ?

Yeah, definitely hoping big time on that one, Bleu. I'm still crossing my fingers for a Vitality Mainstat class in the next expansion, since we have 2 Strength, 2 Intelligence and 2 Dex classes, but I'm well aware of how over the top hoping that is.
As for DH's not being allowed to use 1-handed weapons...when I was thinking over what Travis said in the Twizzcast, he did make a good point. IF they explore that avenue, they don't want it to be a result of just ONE legendary that opens the way. They'd want to present the option as a game wide thing. I can understand and accept that, as if the Meph sword were modeled to be beneficial to DH's (I still might find one and give it to my own DH for gags, hehe), if you wanted to build a viable DH that wields a sword, you'd need THAT one. Whereas, if they adjusted certain aspects to make sword-wielding DH's more viable overall, you wouldn't need that ONE particular one in order to make it great.
Then again, while I understand the preference for people to use bows and crossbows with DH's, I don't think the class shouldn't be allowed to use melee weapons. I can understand if certain classes, when younger, are mostly trained to be particularly skillful over others with particular weapon types, but that doesn't mean a DH should be prevented from doing so, if a player wants to try it out and limit themselves for an extra challenge, :-)
Consuming an enemies hatred to restore resources is appealing as well. Could use the Siphon Soul graphic from Witch Doctors.
I was honestly surprised at how silly some of the famous d3 steamers questions and ideas were, at least in my opinion. Not to say there weren't a few good questions asked, there were (such as powerful legendary bonuses being made into sets, and Legendaries being groomed to be superior to rares and therefore be end-game) but some of it just made me say "Are you kidding me? that's a friggin' awful idea." (Come on, The lord of hatred makes you charm an enemy to switch sides based on your bonus life %?)
(Come on, The lord of hatred makes you charm an enemy to switch sides based on your bonus life %?)
Wasn't that your life% is converted into damage?
As fun as that was to watch and hear all the theory behind item design, I leave it feeling doubtful that anyone will come up with anything worthwhile. Maybe they can come up with something and add it to the poll for us to choose.

I don't think it was necessarily all the streamers' ideas, like Archon for instance was picking out ones he'd seen on forums and such that stood out to him...could just be he had a massive influx of ideas that were kinda "meh."
I do, however, like that Travis and John were being more ambitious when it came to taking ideas. Like, one of the guests would suggest something, and Travis would basically say, "well...that's just a visual change, let's do more with it than that." Or, "that's just a damage boost, how can we effect gameplay or link it to skills or other items?" The difficult part is that a 1-handed sword is versatile enough to be used by just about all classes...even if DHs and WDs and Wizards don't use them often, they can still wield swords.
It's going to be even harder to decide on things that benefit every class in meaningful ways, so...probably in the end, it's just going to have some skull procing effect/extra damage move on hit or something, so that no matter what class uses it in attacks, they'll all get the same benefit.
I thought it was interesting when they focused on the sword being a caster based weapon. What if the sword turned all ranged attacks happen at where you clicked with your mouse? For example instead of frozen orb originating from the player's character it will originate from where they clicked. This would work for every class and would definitely make you rethink how skills can work out and how you play.

In regards to an Assassin class, what would this class do and/or be designed around that the monk or DH don't already do? The only thing I can think of is "stealth", and I think D2 showed how useful that is in this type of game. Things like Smoke Bomb and Spirit Walk come close, but they are only used as escape or movement, not extra damage.

So, you click on a target or somewhere on the ground and the orb/projectile appears at that spot...and then what? It just stays there? Can you control which direction it goes from that point? How does that work? Or does it just start moving away from the caster? If that's the case, what's the point?
