    100%

It may not affect people in the US as much with ALL this downtime occurring in the early hours of their morning, but for us over here, it is PEAK hour.

I seem to recall a post from Blizzard before release that the downtime would be nothing like WoW.
Yes you can call this a whining post and say "But they are just ironing out post release bugs - they can't foresee these types off things etc..."
GTFO - I just wan't to play my game. An 8 hour downtime two weeks after release during peak hour is absurd for us Aussies / Kiwis.
It seems almost every second or third night I log on, the servers are down.
IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!! Especially after following Diablo 3's progress since announcement.

Scratch my head in confusion as to how the leading online game developer still requires approximately 3 times the industry standard downtime for maintenance.

Seriously. This is just sloppy. I sincerely hope this is just a "new game" thing and it goes back to being WoW only.

Blizzard made a co-op game, that is also online. Errm reminds me of Guildwars?
ArenaNet almost never took the servers offline, even when patching, in what? 6 years?
Blizzard did before the 1st month.

I love the game and all, but I bought a sequel to Diablo, not WoW. The hell with server downtime.

Its called adding that patch, fixing other random things they haven't mentioned, possibly adding back the gems/tomes/otherrandomstuff AH. There are all sorts of things that go into it then just randomly put it down for 8 hours, just take a breather, eat so you don't die, and maybe even see some light outside.

How could it possibly be so acceptable that it's taking them 8 hours to do rolling restarts and to deploy a tested patch?

8 hours is an entire work day. That's a really long time for this kind of thing, and our friends in EU have to deal with this at prime time (instead of early-AM for US).

I'm not all too upset about the downtime, as I'm at work and when I get home it'll be over, but why try to tell others how to spend their free time? Besides, as mentioned above, not everyone who plays this game is in the same time zone, and for some people this outage is occurring during the 1-2 hours of the day (like early or late evening) that they might be able to play.
i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame. Zhaph#1849

maybe with all this downtime, you could...go venture outside. It's a brave new world out there...

People in the EU have to deal with a company in the US taking it down during the US work time so they can apply the patch. They should be no reason that Blizzard should bring it down when its early AM for EU and change their work schedule for it.

It takes them 8 hours, sometimes even more, to deploy a patch that's been tested for months by millions of people on PTR's. Just get use to it.

You expect them to make it a shorter time to make it possible for the small percentage of people to play for a couple hours which might make the patching not complete and even more buggy.

People bash blizzard for them bringing it down for a scheduled maintenance and give you a specific time of when it should be up, but you never say anything positive about them when they bring it up earlier than expected.

Last night's Game of Thrones was AMAZING! One of the best episodes of the season so far. I'm jealous - you're in for a great 3 hours.

Haha, yeah. There's nice boobs too, though.

You'll have a much different view on the Lannister's after last night's too
