It's always best to have a few hardcore friends for this sort of thing. Usually the world first teams come from hardcore raiding guilds in other MMOs (not necessarily WoW, but that's a good example). I'm sure there's a group of Blood Legion players or something like that who will go for it. I mean, they're no-lifers already, so it shouldn't be too much of a switch.
Good luck though man, everyone can give it a shot - I don't see the harm in trying to recruit people here. Maybe you get one or two legit bites.
I expect many people to hit 60 within the first few days. It's going to be very hard to prove you were the first. Even if you are, others will probably be only a few minutes behind.
First inferno win is a different matter entirely. All indications are that you need a nearly perfect gear set to do it, which would require a lot of rare drops to get the required crafting components... again and again and again... until you get an optimal roll of Blizzard's loaded dice.
I don't wanna be negative man but if you're going 4 witch doctors you won't get it. Me and 3 of my buds were going to do a 24 hr marathon but then decided to take it to the next step and just go as long as we possibly can. We have our strat, builds, classes etc... and know things can change however doing 4 of the same class as others have said will result in shitty gear for your party, resulting in not clearing as fast plus you could get extremley unlucky and get 0 witch doctor drops. I wish ya good luck but might wanna rethink that part.

I've changed the setup to monk + barb + demonh + wiitch

Good choice. 4 WD I think would pose some problems. Monk mantras and barbs damage will clear a lot of your path already.
I would definitely be a part of this, but I only have 1 day that I can afford to no-life before I have to keep track of my classes. We'll see during the term.
If I'm available and this whole thing is still going I'll participate, I met all the requirements and such.
And yeah, rushing inferno is IMO not going to be viable right away, I think.
I'm in the military and I've already lined up leave for the entire week of D3's release as well as the week after. I'll be pushing VERY hard to clear the first two difficulties (norm/nm) by the end of day 1 for sure. Will that pan out? We'll see...
Do I actually care about a world first? No, but I want to start farming hell/inferno as soon as possible. Also, I saw the blue post that indicates blizzard employees have internal bets that it will take players "months" to complete Inferno... IMO that's a challenge... and I accept.
I played D2 for years, both normal and HC.
I'll be opening with a Barb as is my custom :).
Send me a PM (Not just the OP, I'm down to do this with anyone who's mature, got the time, and isn't a total asshat on Vent).

What's the point in getting to level 60 before everyone else?
Are there any benefits/advantages in doing so?
Very few. No title, no feat of strength, nothing. The most they'll get is a slight lead on the chance for decent gear that'll sell for a good chunk o' change.

Hm, I see.
Not my kinda play style; rushing through the maps, skipping all the cut-scenes and whatnot.
My first playthrough, I think, is going to take the longest to complete,
simply because I want to see and hear everything,
to "literally" ingest and digest all the game has to offer.
(I'm aware there are random events that I won't be able to see in my first playthrough.)
But all the luck in the world in achieving your goal, OP.
First to 60 will require "gear feeders", and "gold feeders" to help pay for repairs, etc.
I'm not going to be a gear feeder, or a gold feeder, and waste my time gearing you up so you can feel cool about being the first to 60.
Good luck with that. See you in Inferno, Act 4.
^ Most insightful post so far. Think of the world first 70/80 characters on WoW. They used teams of people and funneled mobs/experience to the one character being leveled up. Obviously you can't do this in D3, but what you can do is have teams of people leveling up parallel to the "main" group of 4 characters. The parallel teams run on gear fumes (i.e. hand-me-downs) and funnel the best drops to the main group. It might be best for the main leveler to be a solo character so gear droppers can enter the game, drop the gear, and get out without interrupting the leveler's play. With 4 players you couldn't have someone come in and give gear with all 4 playing.

Give me a PM or message me on skype if you want to talk about it, don't want to post too much here about this sort of thing.

Now as far as NA First to 60, I doubt you'll be able to do it with only about a month of planning left.

If you actually read the article they have no blue confirmation on this. It's all speculation.
PS: Incgamers is a terribly biased and rumor-based fansite to go to for news.
Also: It's a google translation - and it's actually referring to when the game is sold - not when the servers go live.

Agreed, I'm going to enjoy every single pixel of the game and take my sweet time
