Me and my friends are currently having trouble deciding between some solo playing or organizing a lan. Normally lans are the way to go, but playing at a group pace might be an especially big down side for the first session! People might rather play at their own pace and not feel stifled by trying to keep together as a group.
Perhaps the best compromise would be to all get together but play solo anyway :). We get to hang out together and make a group thing of it but still get to play alone. I suppose we could even begin the lan early and do a play through of Diablo 2…
Anyway, I’ll finish my post up here as plans of a pre-D3 lan of D2 start to form in my head…
What are your plans? Anything special? Organizing time off work to play for a week straight?
Im going to take off work the next day. IMO the best way to play is solo at first, and explore every single aspect of the game. If blizzard is spending all this time making D3 as flawless as possible, than I might as well check take my sweet time experiencing everything each act has to offer. Good thing ive saved 25 sick days up over the past year because im gonna rip D3 a new one the minute it goes live! dieing to play!
I am pretty much going to get the game and play it loads, enjoy the story immensely and work my way out of normal.
Additionally im gonna get the wife to take a few days off so i play uninterrupted.
Then after a few days myself and some friends will organise a LAN and create new characters to play together
Just to clarify, you mean your wife is going to take a few days off of work so she can babysit your children?
Just thought that without that clarification your statement might be a bit missleading and you might have other forum members posting requests for your wife while she is taking time off (of being your wife?).
I plan to play solo and rush through normal to experience the story (staying ahead of the friends I play with)
However I don't think lan connections are impossible. You'll have to all connect to battlenet. Unless you meant all using one internet connection.
Ah yes, we would all just use the one internet connection. I guess it's just about being in the same room.
Although there are 3 of us with our computers permenently set up in the same room in my flat anyway, so semi-lan already happening :).
Having a release party does sound like fun, though I'd be more inclined to play through alone first. I tend to reread text, slowly at that, and always feel a little angsty when people are waiting on me. I really want to be able to absorb all the lore and just take it all in at my own pace. Seems like breaking every now and then to throw down in PvP would be quite enjoyable, though.
DIgital Download so no waiting in lines.....thats for the birds, get your sleep, you will need it. Taking off at wed, thurs, and Friday to pound it out as much as I can. Making those first couple of days count is clutch for being some of the first few thousand into Hell and making some money from the RMAH. Being the first isn't only important for RMAH it is about putting together groups then you can rush your other chars and have you 3 60's before some get 1

Sometimes you don't always know where you stand... until you know that you won't run away.
Probably depending on time and schedule do an all night gaming; starting with standing in line for midnight release. Unless I know others who are getting it at that hour and staying up all night I'll just solo play till they jump on.
Thought of replaying Diablo 2 to get myself in the proper mood.
I just want to hoard items... I'm such a pack rat.
Personally I'm hoping for a mid-may release so I will be done finals, but of course I want it sooner just like everyone else. I plan to play solo as I need to play at my pace ( Fast or Slow). Then Co-op later on in the game.
As geeky as it sounds, I'm gonna take a few days off and just game intensly every day, all day long.
My girlfriend already said that she'll make dinner those days so I should be covered pretty good
I am having the same internal conflict. I have decided to play both one player and LAN/Multiplayer however i have another issue that has arised from that: Do i play the same class or a different one? I was thinking the same class so i can familiarise myself with the toon in my own time without letting my mates down however i know multiplayer and solo are hugely different experiences. I am looking at going the witch doctor but have yet to try it out to see if i like it lol.
If it can be released while I'm still not finished at school I'll definitely take at least 2 days off to play from release date.
And I will definitely play solo for my first playthrough so I can take my time to experience things and enjoy the quests/story/exploration at my own pace.

my plans consist of drinking a butt ton of red bull staying up all night because i will take a day off work(love salary work). then return to work waiting to go back home to play some more. just wish it would hurry up and get here

So.. I stared at your avatar for like 20 seconds trying to remember where it was from when it hit me. A fucking puppeteer from ogre battle 64. BEST. GAME. EVER.
Waiting in line to buy the game. Get some greasy fast food and energy drinks on the way home to consume during install. Be up all night playing a Witch Doctor. Wake up and play because I'll have the day off work. Go to sleep, dream about the game, go to work and think about the game. Rinse and repeat.
Same as every release I'm pumped up for. Get it, play non-stop, sleep, school, play non-stop..yup, probably for a week AT LEAST before I get my life back. lol
Great to see so many others planning on taking time off work to play! Should be an exciting and active first few days...
Although for me it's planning assignments around the release date instead of taking time off work. Hopefully we get a few weeks notice fo the release date so that I know when to have my assignments done by!
