People are assuming it's going to be the 19th. Here's why that's a bad idea. Marketing.
You don't announce something huge on the same day that you release a ton of information about a completely different title. That's bad marketing. You never want one game to overshadow the other. Have you ever seen Blizzard announce something for two titles on the exact same day?
The 19th is the NDA lift on the MoP press tour. That means that all the websites that have to do with gaming will begin to release information about MoP on that day. That's a massive marketing tactic by Blizzard. They would not want any other game to overshadow that information.
It's like saying "Hey, look at this game over here! Oh wait, look at this game right here!". That's a seriously bad move. If they announce a release date for D3, it will not be on the 19th.

which may explain for the ditched pvp arena for release
But as you stated, the same day is nonsense, so is the day one week before. But thinking further along this string makes me come to a conclusion I don't like and will deny until it's too late. So release date today it is!
I don't think the week before is nonesense. it will create a lot of buzz around blizzard as they release more stuff.

I'm hoping for today as much as the next guy... but by that logic couldn't it be 26th just as well? I mean I know Jay Wilson said 9 on a scale of 1 to 10 but we have no idea how big that scale is measured in days/weeks xD

that would mean around 3 weeks to give them to work on the arena system more...I think that would be really valuable to them to get it ready for ship.

Except they won't do that as they've officially stated PvP is not in the shipped product ;-)

my point
also the fact that they're updating the beta deosn't mean anything. it could be updates in relationship to the release or just standard updates. You can't take them updating the beta in any direction really
ppl will be talkin for every possible day so .. no sense in ur argument at all also they alrdy know the release date announce and they date the game will be out so its not rly possible to monitor all fan sites and put up a date where ppl dont talk about ..

"There comes a time, thief, when the jewels cease to sparkle, gold looses it's luster, and the throne room becomes a prison" -King Osric
They will probably announce the release date on Friday. Not sure if you guys know this or not, but Blizzard called a bunch of people in the Diablo news community to come down to California on Friday. I doubt it would be for anything other than the release announcement.
I know that Blizz normally announces release dates on Mondays, but why would Blizz invite the Diablo news community to meet with them on Friday if they are going to announce the release 4 days earlier? It just doesn't make sense to me. I really do believe that the announcement will be on Friday and I think they are going to surprise us with some info we didn't know previously. Just my opinion, but I think that there is real evidence to lean on.
if a ship sprung a leak and appears to be going down. but theres still a tiny chance it could stay afloat. wouldnt you rather get off and know you saved your life then stay on and risk it?

"once the pretty hardcore gamers we had testing inferno found it fairly difficult, we then we doubled it" -trolololol jay wilson
The only logical time would be today for announcing the release date. Why? Well first of all, the MoP info is being released next Monday. All that info will take the whole week to soak in and Blizz will need everyone they can to handle the fans. So D3 Release Date Announcement is not logic to happen next week. What about the 26th? While that would be viable, it is also not logical. With Jay Wilson using the word "days" instead of "weeks" just a couple weeks after we heard the word "weeks" from him, means that release date is soon. And ~21 since the wording change would not mean days to some people and would still be considered weeks. They know it, we know it, so it is not logical. Plus the MoP info could over run into the next week, possibly overshadowing a release date if it was on the 26th.

As Molster stated, either in this thread or another, they could have possibly been invited to a testing of the full game. Especially if the announcement is today. Blizzard doesn't hold these big press events like for MoP just for a single date. They only post an article on the site and call it quits in terms of press releases. And Force never said where in Cali they are going. There are a lot of game studios there that could use any press they can get their hands on. So until they tell us where and why they went to California, there will only be speculation.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
As much as i'm anticipating the release of the release date, im starting to get my hype index as low as possible atm. It seems like just random speculation (quite logical in fact, and i really wanted myself to belive all the stuff ppl are saying to convicen eachother). Still this friday can be an optional date for the announcement. Dont get overpsyched guys, blizzard is just teasing us day by day sadly...
here's the deal. we were told its coming soon.
Every release for release date has been on a monday.
They're not going to release next week due to other announcements and events
They're not going to ship pvp system since they want to release asap
moving the date to, at minimum the 26 gives them much more time to work on the system.
even more illogical is a release date past the 26 due to that fact.
most reasonable - today.
we could be wrong...ya. but it's either today or 26 so take your pick.
